I was changed to Alinta with no permission at all for my electricity, I tried to cancel and my provider (AGL) had me sign forms and then contacted Alinta on my behalf. I got back to AGL fortunately in a short period. They then had the audacity to send me nearly a $100 bill. Very disappointed, do not deal with Alinta. The Australian Cricket Team needs new sponsors.

I was signed with Alinta without my consent through a third party in Sep. I repeatedly called to say I did not consent to sign up as did my old provider but they signed me up anyway. It took 6 months for my electricity to go back. Meanwhile I was charged the highest bill I have ever received. I contacted their complaint team as was told I would have an answer within a week and 4 weeks later still waiting. I have just lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman. I hope they get fined. Very bad customer service and unethical behaviour.

to have our business with them they promised a low price ,then started to make it higher and higher ,Christmas time we closed for 3 weeks and we received a higher bill than usual ,don"t trust them

Last year 2019 I signed alinta energy for gas d electricity. I got my first will after 5 months and it's come 800$ and after discount its come around 530&.
I was shocked to see that. When I asked them explanation t. They did not give me reliable answers or you can say they don't know anything. Now I am with energy Australia and I got my bill for 90 days zero bill on top I got25&cr towards solar.

Now I have dispute over gas bill. These people owe me 17 dollars but they refuse to pay me back on top they asked to pay full money of gas bill.

Shame on you alinta your are ripper of people money.

Completed online form and followed up with a phone call saying that as this is a remote island in QLD the connection is only done on one day of the week Wednesday. told by the person on the phone no we will have it done on the Tuesday. Wednesday morning receive txt sorry we were unable to connect please call.
Call and receive the run a round making sound like my fault for not letting them know. So now have missed the Wednesday dead line and have an 85 year old stuck for a week with out power and no help but sorry you should have let us know.
Do not use this company totally unreliable.

Just receive my first bill for 38 days was more than Origin for 93 days, and we have solar, cant believe we have full sun and the bill is higher for a short the time frame

Alinta energy service personnel called the house I currently reside in there's an older gentleman there with early elzaimer symptoms ,I ask Alinta energy not to call any more the house phone and yet they continued and before I knew it they had tricked the older gentleman into becoming their costumer simply by asking details of him without knowing he was being signed up with them when I spoke to the Alinta energy rep he told me to go live somewhere else if I didn't like it ...good for you Alinta following was the lies of discount provided by Alinta which were totally untrue we were actually $30/60worse of quarterly then they wouldn't let us go off the contract till now it seems like we paying two bills even though we change to a different company they still sending us bill for 4/5month later Alinta energy is dirty and dodgy as hell

I moved into this property 13 months ago and have been receiving estimated bills the entire time which seemed normal at around 800/1000 per quarter but I just received my last bill for $8620!!!! We nearly died. With the 30% discount it goes down to $6235! I have been dealing with the Resolutions team who are adamant that my first read of the meter was actual, however on the bill it’s states that’s it’s estimated. So it works out that my other bills should have been around $3000 per quarter!! I’m trying to work out what to do but I’m definitely not staying with them and trying to get my head around why my bill is so high for a 2 person residential property!! Stressed.

my phone number +61 (61) does not work, why electricity and computer work 24/7, why can't you let your people work from home, why don't you and the top 150 multinationals and central banks forgo interests and bills till this crisis is over. 4 days later no response, lots of unemployed people available why not employ more people to resolve your problems. You are an essential service if a country refuses you to work cut off their electricity supplies.

I have recently received a notification from Alinta advising us that “Your energy rates are changing”. This introduction also includes the re-assurance that “you are on one of our lowest cost plans!”. [ perhaps that should read "WERE on one of our lowest cost plans"] Nevertheless I was not unduly alarmed as we have been constantly re-assured by both State and Federal governments that steps have been taken with providers to ensure there will be minimal increases in energy prices for consumers, both now and into the future.

Anticipating that this was the good news I moved onto the advice of our new usage rates. I should emphasise that this notification is not generated because I have moved out of, or onto, a new contract. This is purely a price adjustment for my existing and continuing contract. So, clearly spelt out are the existing contract rates details alongside the new rates which will apply from 20th January 2020.

Imagine my horror when I realised that our electricity rates were to increase by no less than 26.8% and gas rates by 15%. How on earth this can be justified is beyond any comprehension, and to identify this price hike as scandalous is an under-statement.

I have requested a written justification from Alinta and also requested comments from the Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, who just happens to be our Federal representative in the Kooyong electorate. I received a response eventually from Alinta, a response which was full of contradictions to the details contained on the Government site relating to such default offers.relating to the "default" [VDO] offer. Examples of the contradictory information are as follows:

Govt. Quote: “the VDO is a simple, trusted and reasonably priced option that safeguards consumers unable or unwilling to engage in the electricity market”. The VDO is therefore designed to help those who have not negotiated their own market price over time, and as a result have fallen behind and are paying excess rates. This does NOT apply to us.

Gov. Quote: “every Vic household and small business can now ask for a default offer..”

Gov. Quote: “ Electricity retailers must make the VDO available to customers who request it. Retailers may continue to offer customers contracts that differ from the VDO through market offers”

Alinta's statement that the VDO regulated price for electricity which all energy retailers need to adhere to for customers who are on a standing offer is therefore totally misleading and deceptive. Firstly it is to be made available to those who request it, not as you say that retailers need to adhere to the VDO price structure. Secondly, the VDO was introduced to protect those on “standing offers”, not those who have negotiated special market rates. And thirdly, and most importantly, retailers can continue to offer contracts through negotiated special offers. It appears those at Alinta who communicate with customers simply do not know what they are talking about.

I have since received a notification that the matter has been referred to their Disputes Department and that I will be contacted by them within 5 business days. Obviously they have a large number of disputes to deal with if I have to wait 5 business days. I await that communication with bated breath!

Swapped AGL to alinta my bill increased from $700 to over $1000. Nothing changed but the energy company. We were informed they have the cheapest rates, however our bill was the highest we have

Just recieved a $560 bill with an estimated daily consumption of 17 equivilent to a 4 person dwelling. I live alone and am not home from mon to fri exept for after 6 where I watch tv and go to bed. This is absoloute lunacy this bill gets higher and higher every quater yet im not adding any extra white goods or electronics and I dont have aircon this is a disgusting rort

Signed up for Alinta two weeks ago. I signed up for the sports pack (includes Kayo sports).
1) Was told on the phone by Alinta consultant I would receive a welcome pack in my email and post.

Issues:
1) I didn’t receive a welcome pack of any kind. Ever. I had to follow up myself.

2) they are terrible at responding to emails. I emailed [email protected] three times and they literally never responded hence why I had to call.

Tip: don’t sign up with Alinta. Just use Kleenheat or some other provider. at least you will have better customer service. I had kleenheat at my previous house and there was never a problem with communication.

I have moved into a property with a one bedroom in January 13th and set up connection with alinta. I only moved into the property on January 29th and received my first bill on February 13th for $113 - I wasn’t even living at the property until January 29th.

Now I’ve received my bill of 3 months for $500- this is for a household for 1 person. I have tried contacting them but they’re not answering “due to high number of calls due to covid 19”.

I choose this electricity provider because they showed low comparison rates according to other electricity providers online. However this energy provider bills you almost 3 times the normal amount.

I am still waiting on a bill for a self-metre read I submitted three weeks ago, or a response to a query I raised two weeks ago. In that time they have managed to send me two overdue notices though... neither with the ability to respond.

They also don't allow customers to apply for government concessions via their online account or email. Apparently I have to call their generic number and wait in a (god knows how long) queue to do this. Funny how no other provider that I'm aware of makes you jump through these hoops.

I've already found and signed up with a new provider with better rates; took 20 minutes tops, including the concession application. The continual lack of customer communication makes me realise the change is the right one and that I should have done it months ago!

I installed solar panels last year, since then i have got two letters from alinta energy advising me that my energy rates are going up. This is so disappointing that we pay thousands $ to get cheaper energy and become more self sufficient but these people raise your rates and waste your effort and money. I'm really disappointed and currently looking to switch to another company.

We have been with alinta for many years and have moved 3 times before.
This move has had me lose all faith in the company. I spoke to the call centre to arrange disconnection (of old property) and connection (of new property). 4 days after expected connection, still no electricity. No one contacted me to explain “error”. Called today and were told it would be connected in 2 hours. Nope. And still no alert to an issue.
My husband is now driving to the new property at 8.40pm while on the phone to the call centre. We have had trade call our fees, with work unable to be competed. I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. We will be considering taking our business elsewhere if the issue has not been resolved.

Before I installed solar panels I was using an average daily consumption of 8kw. I installed solar panels and now I am apparently using 16kw daily. How the hell does my consumption double after installing solar panels!!! Absolute rip off!!

I signed up to Alinta Energy in April last year and have found the amount on the 2 bills I received so far to be fine and comparable to what I was paying with my last provider if not slightly cheaper. I have been having an issue with trying to get a new NMI meter number added to my account and have called Alinta a few times. Each time I have received very underwhelming customer service. No one I have spoken to seems to remotely want to help or go out of their way in the slightest. But what has angered me the most is that most of the staff have been quite rude each time, cutting me off before I could even finish a sentence and speaking in a passive aggressive tone. As a customer I would expect at the very least to be treated with some kind of courtesy - any actual help beyond that would be a bonus. Alinta should really invest in customer service training for their staff. After speaking with the latest (very rude) "customer service" team member tonight, I have decided to go back to my old energy company.

Loyal customer for 12 years, and on the completion of my service due to moving to a home that is not gas, instead of sending me a reminder letter for last bill, they send it to a collection agency. If if you get a phone call with a cheaper rate from another gas supplier, take it. Obviously Loyalty counts for nothing with Alinta Gas.
