I've ordered from American Blinds several times for my own home and also a rental unit. I've never had any problems. Their site is easy to use and the blinds always come as expected. SO much easier and cheaper than dealing with someone at a retail store!

ordered a blind over a month ago, the delivery date was suppose to be 2 weeks ago. checking today to see what the progress is, and their website said it has not even been made, and they are blaming it on covid. which is fine, but there has been no communication from the company on this. so not happy with this, and they have my money.

Received our blinds on 5/9/20 and found they were all cut 3/8" shorter than what we ordered. Have been trying to get help from American Blind for 3 weeks now. Finally to day 5/26/20 I was able to chat with them and was informed they automatic make the blind shorter than what you want. If you order blinds from them and you want them to fit the inside of window order them long and hope they cut off the correct amount so they will fit the window opening. Don B.

Moved into a new home and bought all new blinds for my house. When we got tracking information. I was expecting them to arrive within a few weeks... nope they were coming from China and had to go through customs. After they arrived we realized the measurements got mixed up. They wouldn't provide a refund and or give us new blinds. Their satisfaction guarantee is a lie. Save yourself some cash and go somewhere else, anywhere else.

I used to love American Blinds, when I could order Hunter Douglas brand cellular shades from them. Not anymore. In 2012, as our original blinds, 15 year old Duette cellular shades, started having cords break I ordered American Blinds brand double cell cellular shades as replacements. Except for the price, quick delivery and fabric I've never been very happy with them. The fabric isn't completely hung in the head rail due to the design of the cord lock. On larger shades this causes the fabric to crinkle just below the cord lock, and that happened within a few months. I have one large top down bottom up shade that doesn't have this problem because the fabric hangs in a separate rail. In addition, because of the design of the cord lock, the fabric seems to slip off the rail toward the end of the cord lock. There is a tiny lip at the bottom of the cord lock to keep this from happening but it doesn't really work. We checked the window frame to see if it is level and the frame is level, the fabric slips off because the rail bends down when you pull the cords to open & close the blinds. A few weeks ago a cord broke in one of our larger blinds, 83" wide by 50.25" long. It was was 3 years & 9 months old when the cord broke. I contacted American Blinds and was told I needed to ship the blind in, at my expense & pay $45 to have it restrung. I then went shopping locally and learned most blinds only have a 3 year warranty on cords. I didn't learn this easily. It took internet research and, in a couple of cases, having the company call the manufacturer. I'm not sure if American Brands branded blinds have any warranty on their cords. I learned that there are a couple of places I could take the blind to that would restring it but those places are 80-90 miles away so I started searching the internet & came across a company in Colorado that sells blind string & has a number of "how to" videos on their website. Eventually I restrung the blind myself with a little help from my husband & adult daughter. Because I restrung the blind myself I am now aware of the reasons for the design flaws which mostly stem from design of the cord lock and the way it is installed on the top rail. But it would also be nice if an 83" wide blind had more than 2 cords in it. And also because I restrung the blind myself, I know this blind appears to be manufactured by the same company, or in a similar fashion to, Comfortex cellular shades. As far as blinds in the future, I might order American Blinds brand cellular shades but I would only order top down bottom up shades because they don't have the cord lock interfering with the fabric hanging on the headrail. I would also only order corded shades (of any brand) since the company I ordered the string from recommends having cordless blinds restrung professionally. I would prefer to restring blinds myself instead of taking or shipping the blinds somewhere to have them restrung. Comparing cordless blinds to corded blinds, as far as the long string hanging from the side, we shortened the pull cords to about 8" on most blinds. We can reach them when the blinds are closed but they don't hang on the floor when the blinds are open or need wrapped around a cord wrap. I ordered the string, more than enough for several large blinds, for less than the $45 restring charge. I hope this helps anyone considering purchasing these blinds.

Not recommended. You get a tiny 2-week window to fully inspect your blinds, which is useless when you buy a batch of them and are in the middle of a huge remodel. Once I got a look at them, I realized that 75% of them had dings, scratches, and weird shiny spots that couldn't be cleaned or scrubbed off. See photos. They were totally unwilling to talk about a replacement or even cut me a partial rebate.

We placed an order for sliding panel covers for our sliders. We followed the exact measuring instructions. The order arrived on January 26, 2020 and we hung them up on January 29, 2020, we found that they were way too narrow for our sliders. Inside mount, there are gaps on each side, 1.5" and 1 3/4", they looked terrible. On January 29, 2020, we contacted customer service and after a long conversation, remeasuring everything and sending photos, they shipped a replacement order to us. The replacement order arrived on February 8, 2020, and we attempted to hang them on February 23, 2020, they were the same exact size as the original order. I called customer service again on February 23, 2020, went over all the measurements and explained that they look terrible with the huge gaps. Customer service told me that if they were to remake them, they would arrive at the same size. She offered to place a new order with different measurements, but I would have to pay for them as their guarantee doesn't cover measuring errors. I explained that we measured per their instructions, photos had been provided of the exact measurements of the sliders. I have sent a couple more emails with photos, they are still disputing that they could just add an inch on each side and it would lesson the gaps. It is very clear at the top and bottom, the gaps are the same. They are the ones who made the decision to make them too narrow. I provided measurements per their directions. American Blinds actually suggested for us to have someone rework the window casings! We had blinds on the sliders and never had an issue like this. There are numerous reviews online of other customers having the same issue, measuring per their instructions, but the blinds are way too narrow.

Looked good until they didn't fit. Ordered specific replacement size blinds to fit windows. Received blinds 1/2 narrower than ordered. They will replace therm at a discount. Why should I pay twice for them to get it right?

This company is by far the worst! One of the blinds was off by 1/2 a inch! Their suggested fix was to order a new blind. I'm glad I went with Blinds.com they are great to work with and have a return policy up to 4 blinds.

I'm a single mom, I bought a house, and then I lost my job. We need blinds. First off, I'd like to say that the sales rep. I talked to on the phone was very nice. We spoke many times before I put in my order. In our first phone call, and in every single one after that I explained that I needed 1 in blinds. I had bought 2 in before from a different company and they were too big. I also told him, in every call, that I would like to stay under $500 but would pay more for what I needed. In the last couple of phone calls he kept telling me that they had special 2 in blinds that would work, and would be better, than the 1 in I requested because they had a smaller bracket and were cheaper. Even still, I said I wanted the 1 in. In the last call, he talked me into the 2 in saying they were better. Not knowing anything about blinds, I caved. They got here and would not fit at all! They are way too big! Why wouldn't he just let me get the 1 in I asked for in every phone call!? You can screw half of the bracket with 3/4 in, but the blinds are too heavy for that and rip out of the wood! They were not explained correctly at all. Then I call and want to exchange the blinds for the correct ones I had asked for and I ask them to listen to every call so they knew that I hadn't made a mistake and was not lying about what was said. They agreed. Then I sent the woman an email, explaining in detail all the things that were said and she turns around and reiterated the exact things I said in my email to her as to why she would not fix the issue!! What on earth!? Then she says you can use half of the bracket if that's all that will fit, but it's too heavy to stay in the wall! If you only needed half of the bracket, then why in the world are the brackets double the size rather than just the 3/4?? Please explain that. Then they want me to buy new blinds for the same deal, but I have not started working yet and cannot afford to start all over and but new blinds when all I asked for were the correct blinds. I didn't even ask for a refund. Just send the right blinds.

Just installed 7 blinds I ordered from American Blinds. I ordered the triple cell pleated cordless blinds. They took about 3 weeks to come which was reasonable as the are made to your own specifications. I have seen other triple cell blinds which were much heavier and thicker. I need them for insulation in my sunroom. These are flimsy and not as thick as the single cell ones I was replacing. 3 of the 7 blinds won't contract all the way or hang further down on one side. They were super easy to install. I had bought blinds from another company and they fit much better than these even though both places had the same measurements. I won't be using American Blinds again.

30 years got my first set of patio door blinds. Then 7 foot wide for my living room followed by verticals for dining room also. Afer that 2 sets for my mom's bedrooms. When I decided to replace my family room used the measurements from the 20 year old invoice. Of course then way short and even after moving the brackets down wanted to charge me 80% of my cost for longer vanes. 18 months later two wouldn't rotate. First rail under warranty and they woudb't even open and close. Got a new replacement now and at least functional. But still really light weight and vanes still not even. So I'd recommended just buying from you local chain. Would seem in the past 5 or more years the quality of American Blinds has seriously deteriorated. Even the thickness and sturdiness of the vanes about 50% of what they were previously.

I ordered blinds and the order is wrong. I have called them everyday for the past 5 days. Either the wait is over one hour or they have closed early. If you work for a living and you receive a call back you can't take the call. There is no email address to contact this company. The guy Kenneth on Chat didn't like my Response of "that figures" so he ended the Chat and I couldn't tell him what the problem with the blinds are.

Years ago I spent thousands of dollars with American Blinds and was happy. A month ago I placed an order for custom shutters valued at $750 and was told they would be built 7/8 and arrive 7/15. Today, after HOURS on the phone of being placed on hold and hung upon, I sent several unanswered emails requesting some basic customer service. Not a single response. They claim shortage of staff due to COVID. They hide behind shortened hours and NO CUSTOMER INTERACTION. I say STEP UP AND BE ACCOUNTABLE or CLOSE YOUR DAMNED BUSINESS and stop taking orders and people's money. I want my order cancelled and a full refund.

Ordered over $800 worth of blinds for my home and they are all too narrow. They take too much off the measurements. When approaching the company they recommended I buy them again and add width to each window measurement. This is a terrible way to do business. The industry standard is 1/4 inch off measurements provided, they take 1/2 inch. If you are buying them for insulation and/or light blocking don't waste your money! I will never buy from them again, nor will I recommend them to any of my MANY friends!

I have purchased roman shades from American Blinds before and loved them. The inside window mount required screwing in two brackets, then the shade snapped into place. Not anymore! The new version of these shades has two holes drilled into the head board and one is supposed to screw the shade directly into the window frame. Are you kidding me!! It's impossible to hold up the whole shade and at the same time try to screw it in. One must pay more for installation. And to top it off, the shades are cheaply made. I would recommend avoiding this company. They have really gone down hill.

Records are only kept 10 years. This company cannot tell me the name of the company that manufactured my shades as they were purchased too long ago. So 2 out of 10 have broken and now cannot be repaired. Will have to replace all 10 at great expsense when 8 others are in perfect shade and working condition, no manufacturers name except American is listed which is who I purchased from and who represents many companies. No record to find out who the manufacturer was as old info is deleted from their files. Bad customer service. Those 10 shades were only in one room. Many more were ordered at the time. Would never use company again.

We have purchased blinds from this company for 4 homes in the past 15 years and they used to be great. This last purchase has been a disaster! The blinds have a new "break-a-way" coupling on the rigging that leaves no room for repair after it breaks. It will break too! We sent the blinds back and they lengthened the draw string leading to the breakaway, instead of lengthening the rigging as we suggested. Meanwhile, customer service bounced around to several people, none of which had a clue. Like I said, they used to be good, but I'd stay away from them now!!

I've tried for a couple months to find out when my product would arrive. Original order said it would be delivered the last week of May. Even received an email 2 weeks in that said "your blinds are being made". Lies lies lies! I've tried to call this company so many time in the past month. You sit on hold for several minutes only to be disconnected. I work in retail management & understand these are deferent times. Luckily I work for a company that will be around long after this pandemic as we speak & answer to our customers knowing they are the only reason we exist. This company does not return phone calls or emails. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THEM!!! I still get their sales emails daily trying to get more people to send then money. You've been warned. You will not be happy with this company!!!!

This used to be a good company. I purchased multiple window coverings here over the years and was always pleased by the quality and customer service. So when I needed to replace some old blinds, I did not hesitate to order them from American Blinds. What a mistake! The sent the order without the hardware needed to install the blinds. After weeks of emails and phone calls, they finally sent the hardware. Then we put up the blinds only to realize that the wand and cords were much too short for the length of the blinds. In the past this would have been covered by their product guarantee. But now the "guarantee" only lasts for 30 days, the time of which has now transpired, due to the company's lack of response regarding the missing brackets. While confirming today that I did not miss an option to order longer cords, I notice this product is now deeply discounted. There's a reason for this. Avoid at all costs.
