We had a nice handover of the boat, the boat was clean and tidy, we did get a pumpout from an engineer on his day off... boat in good condition, inside and on the mechanical side. Nice equipped.

Anglo Welsh was recommended by an Australian friend.
This was the first time that we had hired a canal boat for a holiday .
The scenery along the Llangollen Canal was spectacular and the trip a good mix of bridges , locks , tunnels and aquaducts.
The pick up an drop off at Whixall was easy and the staff helpful in explaining the operation of the boat

We preferred the consolation class layout rather than this boat which we have had previously but not available this year!
Boat slightly tired and could do with a makeover !

We've always used Anglo Welsh for canal holidays, but hadn't been for a few years. This time we really enjoyed ourselves but found the narrowboat had a number of problems such as leaking coolant meaning we were having to top up with water and having a poor battery resulting in being unable to pump out the shower until the engine had been running for a while. There were no bath towels on board, the freezer compartment door fastening was broken, and there was no mallet to drive in the stakes when we moored up.

Being our first time boating we had a wonderful week on 'our' narrowboat rented from Anglo Welsh. The chaps at the marina when picking up and dropping off were all very helpful and informative, and the lock keepers along the route were all very patient.

The boat itself was adequate with a few mod con's including a decent kitchen area, tv and dvd player, although the tv wasn't switched on all week. The shower room has a bit snug, but then what do you expect! We slept well in the comfy bed and managed to stay afloat all week!

We hope to be boating again next year and will definitely get in touch with Anglo Welsh again.
Thank you all for a memorable week,we loved it! and the glorious sunshine helped too....

A marked improvement in the reliability of the boat over the one we hired from Bunbury a couple of years ago. This is testament to the staff at Bunbury who are very pleasant and pleased to help.

We have been back to Anglo Welsh over a number of years, to various boat yards and have always found both their staff and service excellent.
Boats are always well maintained, clean and very comfortable. Our holiday was excellent.

My family of four had a stressful weekend on the Thames this summer having been very poorly prepared by Anglo Welsh. As beginners we should not have been let loose on a twisty river with very little mooring, but advised to use the canal instead. We got stuck twice trying to turn the 60ft boat around, never again.

This is our fourth time using Anglo Welsh. We had a cooker fault on the boat, and one of the team came out first thing in the morning and resolved the issue.
Helpful staff at the base when collecting and handing back.

For the 2nd year in a row, Empire broke down, and our trip was interrupted. This boat is in need of a complete re-fit. When we first hired her, (15 years ago approx), she was top class, but now, sadly, she has gone past her "sell-by date." It is obvious that she has become the "Stag-boat" of the Gt. Haywood fleet, and is dealt with accordingly, and I accept this is necessary in some cases. However, to a group who have been hiring from you for over 40 years, a better alternative ought to be available at all bases.

The call centre was always as helpful as they could be, however they were not all familiar with the routes, these are not altogether clear on their site, it is helpful when cruising for a weekend where is practical to cruise to in the time-frame so that evening meals can be booked in advance.

Had an excellent holiday, very helpful, Hoseason let us down by double booking and letting us know one week before our holiday, Anglo Welsh accommodated us with identical boat, extremely helpful from booking to arriving and during holiday. Would certainly recommend and return hopefully next year

it’s one of those one off trips and the staff very friendly. But wouldn’t recommend one narrow boat for a party of 12. Too cramped, not enough seats:table space unless do it in three sittings. and if it’s raining you’re confined to bunks. Not a comfortable experience ps don’t drop the soap in the shower either! We were advised a quite boring route too. All but one of the riverside pubs were either shut or it didn’t serve food or were too busy to accommodate a large party. Quite disappointed overall but was still an experience worth trying, I suppose. Would go again but on two smaller boats and a different canal. Somewhere with some interest along the way.

I would love to do this trip again with my adult kids
We felt rushed in the 10 days and did not have enough time to take in the
sights
We loved the Poppy it was very well stocked with the things needed
This was more of a work out then we thought, the people we traveled with were really struggling with the locks as they were over weight and had limited mobility

The boat was nice - but for 12 passengers today one really needs more than one telephone charge point - like 12 would be better.

Also 12 passengers are likely to take outing in different direction, so a second access key would be a good idea.

Both holding tanks became foul - I suspect someone had forgotten to add Blue.
