I'm most excited about the new, super classy illustrated characters (with a definite medical bent). For me, it's all about the za-za (aka, "wow") factor - if it looks cool, then use it. The new illustrated characters, for example, introduce a whole new realm of possibilities that get rid of the potential Debbie Downers who "hate" cartoons and offer a great way to keep consistent characters in play over a range of courses - helping to brand the look and feel for an organization's eLearning output without having to spend a ton of time on photoshoots or finding just the right model for the job - just grab some background shots and add in the Articulate characters. It can't be more simple and more professional looking. Did I mention that the diversity is outstanding? It is. Someone is paying attention at Articulate.
Throw in the new mobile publishing options and the other onscreen trigger options, including the new "dial" control, and you have endless possibilities - without all the Action Script mess.
And, to top it off, and here's the big drum roll from me, I've kicked Captivate to the curb (ok, well, I'm doing it on 1/31/17 when my "contract" is up). I've had enough woes from my previous pals at Adobe and I am super excited about the integration of the previous "Studio" lineup from Articulate, so I can ditch Presenter, too. It's all seamless. And, you get Rise, too. If you haven't checked that out, you should. But that's another review.
My only concern is the pricing strategy. I understand moving to the Cloud with all of the benefits that provides in terms of stability and upgrading applications. But at a projected annual subscription of $999 and no projected facility to pay for individual applications, I wonder whether this might be off-putting for those, like me, who create eLearning for charities and seek no payment and for those who do not use every application this might cause hesitation in commiting to products that could not later be amended.
For me, at the moment, the suite of applications and the most exceptional community are benefits that would lead me to persuade she who holds the purse strings that I could not live without them!! But my task would be made much easier if there was a more flexible pricing strategy.
If you know anything about Microsoft PowerPoint, learning Articulate Storyline 2 is really straightforward and intuitive. The Articulate community provides many free templates and inspiring ideas and concepts. The online global Articulate community is always ready to assist anyone new to the software with any issue or question. Many if not most of those willing to help are professional elearning instructional designers.
The program is powerful and allows unlimited freedom and flexibility to allow creative juices to flow! Besides all of this, it is really fun to use!
Between the community of participants on the various Articulate sites who are willing to share tips and full-blown demos and source files for how to take my projects to the next level, and the willingness of top-notch Articulate team members like David Anderson and Tom Kuhlmann to offer support and training, our company has been growing our eLearning library with much more engaging content than ever before.
5 Stars all the way!
I LOVE being able to preview what my course will look like on a mobile device - and I don't even have to worry about moving the menu or adjusting my design since the software does it for me!
I also love having access to the library of templates and course elements - it speeds up my development time, and they're easy to access right within the software.
I've been using Rise for some of our more simple courses, and I love the ease of use. I do wish there were a few additional "customization" features, like being able to center an image or text.
Overall, I'm very pleased with Articulate 360, and would recommend it to anyone.
It
* is easy to learn
* is intuitive
* offers a tremendous amount of flexibility
* gives me all that I need to produce high-quality, interactive products that have changed our learning landscape.
I would highly recommend it!
When I first heard about Storyline, I was thrilled with it's list of capabilities and convinced my department manager to get me a license. As soon as I worked on a project with it for the first time, I was hooked! I found it very easy to learn, and with variables, states and triggers, I was very impressed with the ease with which I could put together more complex interactions. Having used both Storyline for several years now (with a recent upgrade to the even more powerful Storyline 2), I can say it is an essential tool for any elearning developer!
The support community provides expert advice and encourages peer sharing. The online support community is still growing but I already am able to find an ample amount of templates and resources I need to build my courses.
We are able to fulfill a large portion of our training needs using storyline. I am able to create modules that target specific learning goals. I can create paths that target each of the 9-11 different divisions within our organization. I have learning checkpoints and assessments throughout the modules. I can instruct virtually with this tool. So much flexibility to create whatever you need!
