Our Austravel representative, Vicki Moss, was excellent to deal with and attended to everything very politely and promptly.

Having paid the price of a small family car for our “holiday of a lifetime” to Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, we expected a five-star service. After all, we gave them a year to arrange it. But it was far from that. The basics of flights and hotels were OK, but the travel documents arrived late, were badly laid out and confusing – just a cut and paste exercise without any attempt to tailor the details to our actual journeys and excursions. As a result, the eleven pages of closely typed text included loads of information which wasn’t relevant to us and it was left to us to work out which was. For example, it included details of different transit arrangements for if we arrived at different times, so we had to work out which instructions applied to us. In Hong Kong we were told that if we arrived before 9pm we would get a “Seat-in Transfer” to the hotel, but if we arrived after 9pm (which we were scheduled to do) an “SIC” (whatever that is) would not be available and a “private transfer will need to be used”. After half an hour wandering round the airport, we realised that this meant - tough, you’re on your own, get a taxi. The instructions also strangely included warnings that there might be disruption to the plans if we were travelling on 20th May, 10th June or 25th December (we were travelling in October).

But most annoying were the arrangements for our stay in New Zealand, which had been subcontracted to another travel company and seemed to have been put together in a rush and without any thought. Amongst other problems, we had a short stay in Auckland where we were booked into different hotels on each of the two nights, being forced to drag our suitcases across town in between.

Not impressed.

There was insufficient attention to detail :-
There was no warning that after over 30 hours of travelling since we left home, that we would turn up at the hotel and find rooms would not be available for another 5 hours.
The itinerary stated that we would be picked up from our hotel for the trip to the blue mountains, when I checked we were scheduled to be picked up from a totally different hotel which we then had to find.
The itinerary advised that pick up from our hotel in Sydney would be three hours before departure time, when I checked with the transfer company, I was told it would be two hours as it was an internal flight.

Excellent service from Julie at Austravel who put together a tailor made holiday for us at a sensible price. Really looking forward to it in a few months time.

We have used Austravel previously for our trip to Western Australia and Adelaide. We had no issues whilst away and the accommodation was exactly as we expected which has not been the case with a previous travel agency.
Julie has been most helpful with suggestions for our forthcoming trip to Tasmania and we are very much looking forwards to our holiday next year.

I should have contacted Austravel first - having tried others, it was a refreshing change to talk to someone who actually knew what he was talking about. He found flights, booked seats and it cost less than I'd been quoted by others. Good job.

Booking our month long trip to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Singapore couldn't have been easier. Richard Rymer took our wishes on board and produced a custom made trip and when we made changes it wasn't an issue. He was really helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble.

Took over 2 weeks to get a brochure.
Immediately started to finalise tour. Changed details as some hotels not available. Paid deposit , a month later no invoice for holiday or acknowledgment of deposit paid. Did get email saying balance was overdue and then one saying to ignore it. A month from booking still no invoice so needed to chase up.
Administration is totally substandard. Booked last year and everything was fine so can’t understand how things can get so badly wrong so quickly.

I have been using Austravel for 13 years, and have never had any problems. Even 2 years ago when I had to change my flights because my Mother was ill, the person who sorted it out for me was very patient and helpful.

1st class & efficient service, if all my travel arrangements ( London to Dubai ...Dubai to Phuket.... Phuket to Singapore .....Singapore to Sydney.....Sydney to Melbourne ..... Melbourne to Dubai....Dubai to London ) all go according to plan I’ll award them a hundred stars.

Ive travelled to Australia many times and I always think of Austravel first. They are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I have just booked my most recent flight today. It was painless! Both Paul and Zara were very friendly and honest which I really appreciate. I would definitely recommend them.

I first completed the form on the Austravel Website and submitted this. I read they may some time to get back to me but after a week of not hearing anything I phoned directly and what a difference.
