Not only did he help us obtain a great interest rate on our mortgage, he also made the entire process simple to understand. He was always available for a chat even after hours. We had a complex financial situation given my wife was on maternity leave. He arranged a pre-approval for an upcoming auction with 3 days.

I investigated many alternatives to re-mortgage my house. In the era of strict bank processes, I didn't think one of the Big 4 would be able to accommodate everything I wanted. Then I got a courtesy call from Emma Walsh and everything changed. Her knowledge of the products and her exceptional customer service was quite incredible. You just don't expect it anymore! She got the job done quickly, and painlessly.
Emma has just locked in a very loyal customer to Bank of Melbourne - would highly recommend.

1. Paperwork post formal approval took nearly 4 weeks to acquire (and included incomplete documents) causing significant delays.
2. Guarantor loans require said guarantor to supply same amount of information as loan applicants, as well as solicitor sign off (all good, except would’ve been useful to know this earlier to set up necessary appointments)
3. 2 weeks after sending paperwork, we learn (on the day after boxing day) that there has been a snag and guarantor needs to supply a second title for a piece of land on the security property that hasn’t been seen since 1984 (which during xmas time was impossible to locate) BOM would be keeping the loan hostage until the paper title was made available. An issue that could’ve been rectified and limited the stress experienced had they provided us with the paperwork in a timely manner. Settlement at this point was in 2 weeks!
Bank of Melbourne's carelessness and lengthy processes resulted in us applying directly with another lender who managed to turn a loan around for us with same requirements in 10 days. Once settlement was successful (phew!) we met with our new lender and they told us that someone else had come to them with almost the exact issue. Ridiculous.
Key learning... Stay away if you are applying for a loan with bank of melbourne with guarantor. Also, don’t bother with a broker, we had one and they were as lost as we were. Waste of time, go direct to banks to ensure you have total control.

Bank acknowledges the funds are in suspense yet is not prepared to do anything about it and just apologises rather than return the funds.

Got approved in April. Signed in May. Unconditional contract of sale for new property.
Two weeks before settlement, picked up for "audit" and bank wanted liability information resent. Supplied the required info, they kept wanting more. TWO DAYS before settlement, they suspended the loan and advised that before they could confirm "approval", we needed to provide them with information about accounts we held years ago. We were left with no option but to withdraw our application and apply for finance elsewhere.
I will never bank with Bank of Melbourne again and will warn EVERYONE I know to steer clear.
How a bank can rescind formal approval is completely beyond me.

Extreamly high interest rate in the market(14%), No statement until you make a 2 hour call
Rediculous exit fee (>$2k), exit fee in late 2012 is higher than early 2012 by $1000.
Please read the contract carefully before you enter into the hell.

Normally visit BOM Pacific werribee branch never ever have been helpful. You have to see a specialist on some other day because no one knows how to even open a business account.
Apart from that they keep on closing branches.
I love saying BOM because it is a bomb!!!

of the equity available - settlement of the property we were buying lapsed before they released funds, I was not able to contact anyone with any authority, I stayed on the line until the funds were eventually released - we will be penalized for failing to meet the settlement and the Bank Of Melbourne put my property at risk, my large deposit at risk, the inordinate amount of time involved of our conveyance, of mine and our broker, as well as the negotiation with the vendor, yet this bank did not have any one at the HO that was contactable. They will apparently call me??
what an insipid bunch - my thanks go toe the call center girls who listen to my frustration and tried to help. My disdain go to the face less few whom screwed this up.

They wouldn't allow us to keep it on the market any longer to try and get what it was worth. All good now, we have a house with no mortgage and my wife got her compensation from workcover so no more loans for us from the bank of Melbourne.

They are the rudest bank I’ve ever had to deal with. They blocked our card and left our family strandard overseas without any money. Despite answering all the security questions correctly over the phone, their system malfunctioned and the representative wouldn’t listen or help, given the circumstances. In fact, she hung up on me as I was explaining our circumstances. When I phoned back, there were no apologies and we continued to receive the same unhelpful/rude service from the second representative.
When we came back home, we had our mortgage refinanced. Steer clear of this mob, they’re a nasty bunch. It all comes from upper management.

We both work and need it just for emergencies ,we were knocked back and I’m just dissapointed and a bit shocked,upset really ..
We have been very long term loyal customers and all my super is in BOM as well...
I am now switching banks...absolutely pathetic Bank of Melbourne...
We have a combined income of over $130,000 and you knock back us on a credit card with a $3000 limit...
Ohh yeah they now ask you to send an sms to check the status of your application ..I’d been sending status for over a week then left it for 3 days and sent another text on Sun and get told I’m unsuccessful..
They didn’t even notify me...
