I joined Bulb around 4 months ago after my previous provider, Bristol Energy, substantially increased the electricity prices. Bulb sources 100% renewable electricity and seems to be one of the cheapest in the market. Since I joined, they have slightly lowered the cost per kWh, which is something that I had never experienced with previous utility providers. Their online portal shows your electricity consumption in graph format, which is great to monitor trends (obviously only relevant if you submit regular meter readings). There is also a phone app that works well. Customer service so far has been very good, although I am conscious that I haven't asked Bulb to deal with any complicated issues, like faulty meters, etc. So really happy with the switch and glad I am supporting a smaller company focused on renewable energy.

Everything was fine until out of the blue it was announced that, despite 2 earlier rises, their gas price would be increasing by more than 26%!!! Will be moving on.

I've tried lots of energy companies over the past few years, and I have to say Bulb have been by far the best. My bill is very cheap each month, the live chat service is impeccable when I need help, and I can always refund credit on my account instantly when it exists. Like everyone else, I have a code for us both to get £50 (redeemable as straight cash if you want it!). Help out a poor student! (www.bulb.me/scottb7513)

Issue raised from day one in August of last year 2019. We agree to have our old dual fuel meter changed for one of those wonderful new Smart Meters everyone's hailing. Hmm... It doesn't seem to function. It can't operate properly? On site engineer assures us that in time, the system will work itself out. It's just a 'connection' issue as it's new. So, having removed our perfectly functional original Dual Fuel meter for their new one, the engineer confirm that it is faulty, but leaves it in place anyway, as it is now the only meter we have! Apparently, my billing has catapulted up to £6600 in the first few months! I sent repeated complaints that the figures couldn't possibly be correct. I was previously £1000+ in credit on my monthly payments. Was then sent £10 credit and apology in December an ‘adjustment was made’ but no further action was taken. Still, at our end, the Dual Fuel meter cannot be read but Bulb ‘reassure’ us that they are getting both readings their end and we are being billed accordingly, which no one is actually able to confirm of course, least of all us. Not convinced and finally after some 5 months of erratic readings, Bulb agree to arrange for someone to come, but the earliest they can arrange is February. We hoped this would resolve matters, so that they would either 'fix' the electric duel fuel meter display function or condemn it once and for all and we assumed, would finally arrange for a replacement (although by now, you'd forgive us for just wanting our old one back.) Engineer arrives as scheduled. Doesn't know anything about our query with the new ELECTRIC SMART METER. He's just here to read the GAS METER and intends to leave to go to his next appointment! I can read the Gas Meter myself and have been sending readings to Bulb in the normal way at regular intervals whenever prompted by them. We implore him to at least LOOK at the new electric smart meter to see if he can operate the dual fuel display function on it. He tries for us and no. He can't operate the dual display either. His assessment? It's broken. So, both the engineer who actually installed it and now by another independent engineer, also sent by Bulb, we're told that the SMART METER IS BROKEN. Seething now, I contact Bulb straight away again. As of today, still nothing back from them. I try Live Chat and am advised that Bulb have not been able to get readings from the Gas meter either all along ...... Ombudsman beckons... enough is enough!

We recently bought our first home which was connected to British Gas. After running an energy comparison, Bulb Energy came out the cheapest supplier with a 5 star customer service rating, also being MUCH cheaper than all of the big 6 suppliers! The switch was simple with everything handled by Bulb and regular email updates to keep me informed. I was given a fixed switch date and everything went swimmingly. Bulb has a great app to monitor your balance / usage / bills and submit meter readings. This ensures less estimated usage bills (British Gas attempted to charge me £70 on an estimated basis for the month before we moved in to our house and when the gas boiler had been switched off at the mains the whole time - and it was a nightmare to sort out!). If you are thinking of switching, I highly recommend Bulb. If you sign up through the following page bulb.co.uk / refer / gulama9193 (copy and paste into browser without any spaces in the link) you will also receive an automatic £50 bill credit :) You can also call Bulb directly (0300 30 30 635) and quote "gulam9193" for the £50 free credit when signing up. 3 month update: Bulb are still doing fantastic. I have called them twice since joining (for matters that I wanted to query as opposed to anything being wrong) and both times the phones were answered immediately and my queries resolved. My bills have also been lower than expected! 2 year update: Bulb are still going strong. I have fully working smart meters so no longer need to submit readings and my bills have gone down further recently as Bulb (unlike others) variably adjust prices when the wholesale price goes down – as has done recently with the pandemic. I could not recommend them enough. I’ve built up enough credit over the last couple of years to cover my usage and I have requested a refund a couple of time – both time paid within days to my bank account.

Being RIPPED OFF as we speak Have been with `BULB for a few years with no issues - the problems started when I had their 'SMART' meters installed: - Recently discovered they have been overcharging me (upto £500) based on SMART readings as well as estimated readings which were being reported under the decommissioned meter - Still have to provide GAS meter readings as the meter doesnt work Now I'm allegedly £600 in debit (when £500 of that is due to overcharging errors) and I have had enough. Will switch out to AVRO and take them to small claims court Be careful - I had no issues and quite enjoyed being with them until my so called 'SMART' meters were installed and then a few months later I realised my estimates were going into the decommissioned meter so I was being charged for those and my actuals were being reported under the SMART meter so I was being charged for those too. CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS CAREFULLY

I have recently very switched to Bulb, after a price comparison, What concerns me is that they allow a referral code to be used on the internet that enables both parties to have a £ 50 credit. And no, I did not use any code from many that are on the net. Bulb of course know about this but, it seems, allow it to continue in return for good reviews. I can only conclude most of the reviews here are posted for £50 reward, and the overall rating is not a true reflection of the customer care level.

Completely misleading - joined these and like the few reviews before mine, was told one price - switched and before I even finished transitioning, I was told my price was going up by 15%. When I contacted to ask what was going off, I was told that they made it clear when I signed up - it wasn't clear at all, I was told one price and no mention of a price rise until I was already in transition - disappointed with this company before I've even started - lets see how it goes.

bulb.co.uk/refer/william6161 for £50 credit which you can then withdraw or use towards your bill. They'll even pay exit fees from your old supplier if there are any, and don't charge exit fees themselves.

Been with them for a year now. Excellent overall and reduced my bills. Only minor issue is my recently fitted smart meter from another provider doesn't auto report my readings to Bulb so have to do it manually. Get £50 free account credit with this (bulb.me/leep1632)

We changed over to Bulb from EDF after a comparison site said we would save £200 a year, when in fact our bill has been more every month this year than last and usage has stayed the same! not Impressed

Started my switch to Bulb only 4 months ago on the promise of a deal that was around £25 less than my current supplier. I went to the hassle of switching from a supplier I’d been happy with for years (who had always been cheapest in every comparison, which is why I’d stuck with them til now). I made that decision based on that promise and reviews here. Within a month or so, Bulb had already increased my payments - in summer. Then today I receive an email casually telling me that my “direct debit of £xxx ‘’ would leave my bank in 3 days. That amount was £30 a month more than the amount they suggested I’d pay, based on accurate usage, just 4 months earlier. I queried this huge increase. Oh, apparently it’s just them ‘advising’ me that I SHOULD MAYBE pay more to build up during winter months - well that’s funny, cos I assumed I was already doing that, given I was told my monthly payments would be £xxx when I signed up. I had assumed that Bulb had the sense to balance out my annual consumption to give an HONEST and ACCURATE monthly payment prediction, rather than just winning me over with a low quote, then increasing it twice, in total by almost half of the original quote - in just 3 months. They sound all great at the start - say all the right things. Then they start increasing - the biggest increases I’ve ever had in 30 years of having utility bills. As for their idea of ‘advising’ me that I might need to increase payments to build up to winter...there was no advice, no warning, no request or suggestion, and no notice! I was told 3 days before the payment will be taken, which is too short notice to do anything! Oh and, in case they try this excuse, I submit monthly meters readings!

I am in the process of leaving Bulb after being with them for more than a year primarily because they are no longer competitive after recent price rises. I have found at least 10 companies with cheaper offers including British Gas and EON so time to move again. My new suppliers tarriff is more than 10% less than Bulb

I originally decided to use Bulb an price alone. Shortly after I joined them they put their prices up a tad, and I was concerned I might have made the wrong decision.

But as they source from renewable energy producers, I stuck with them. Now I am very pleased with their service. No complaints with them at all. Their management of payments is faultless. It's easy to submit online meter readings. Prices haven't gone up since. So what more to say . . . . I'd recommend them.

Easy set up. I have had no issues.
I have been with Bulb for a year.
I wanted a supplier that was a bit more eco friendly.
Really easy to set up and manage online. You get sent reminders for meter readings, its simple to put them in too.I was told when I had paid to much and could have it repaid to my bank or just leave it for higher bills in winter.
