I placed an order with the Camden-Grey Company (have ordered a few times in the past) and was sent an email invoice. A few days later I noticed an additional charge on my credit card from the company for approximately $12. I contacted them, asking what the charge was for, and asked them to let me know within 48 hours. Customer service was EXTREMELY RUDE! The charge was evidently for extra shipping charges, which they assigned after the order was shipped. Not a big deal for the charges, but Elisa in customer service sent such rude emails that I would NEVER order from them again.

I ordered from them 8/22 for over $166 and $25 in shipping. We had a dispute from a previous order which we're still in negotiations about and I received an email today saying they are refunding the $166 but NOT the $25 in shipping for something that NEVER left their business.

They are in effect STEALING from me!

We had been ordering essential oils from Camden-Grey for 2 years with no problems. We must have spent over $8000 with them and order regularly. Recently, however, we got a batch of our normal clove oil that was dark, almost black in color, and with an absolutely putrid smell to it. We sent them pictures, exchanged cordial emails, even sent them a sample of what we received, only for them to determine that this awful stuff was within their range of normal and due to normal variation. Coincidentally, this clove oil also went out of stock once we contacted them, despite it being so acceptable. Their policy is no returns, however, they were willing to allow us to return the oil for either a refund or store credit, minus 20% re-stocking fee. Totally reasonable. They gave us a date to ship the oil by, we shipped by that date, UPS shows that it was delivered and received with a signature, and I never heard from them again. I emailed asking if the oil had arrived, whether we would receive a refund or credit (as they had promised), for 3 weeks and even called and left a detailed voicemail and have still gotten no response. No sign of a refund processing in our bank account and no sign of in-store credit on our online account with them.

Quality issues aside, we would never order from such an unprofessional company again. We've since switched to a larger supplier of essential oils (bulk apothecary) and couldn't be happy with the oils we've received and the stellar customer service (and cheaper price!). Buyer beware working with these guys... You might be totally fine, and you might be out of a $500 order.

Camden Gray has been my go to source for EOs since 2007 or 2006. I make soap and skin care products. I had to stop my crafts for a few years due to family illnesses, and just recently returned to the world of crafting. Everything I’ve ever ordered from CG has been top notch when I first began ordering and my return to ordering. I can not comment on CS in terms of resolving issues because I’ve never had a problem with any of my orders. I can say shipping is fast to NYS and packaging to prevent damage and leakage of the EO s has been exceptional. Over all, the EOs I have ordered, especially Patchouli, have all been good top notch quality. I’m sorry if others have had problems and very surprised as well.

i have been ordering for years from them and I find their products top quality for much less cost of name brands. I live for their argan oil! I don't understand all the negative reviews.

I have ordered from them numerous times over the years and have always gotten good results with the products. Good, quick service and have never had an issue. I am currently waiting on my most recent order which shipped out 1 day after I placed it and tracking shows it will arrive three days from now!

Not sure about those stating they have had bad experiences with this company, I have had nothing but good products and excellent service with Camden-Grey. I will continue to purchase from them.

I ordered $700 worth of EOs from Camden Grey. The shipping was rather slow, but that was not a big deal to me. The total weight of all the products I ordered was 64#, they charged me $70 for S/H (that is quite expensive but it was not a big deal because they did tell me it would be that high at checkout).

The problems started when they charged me an extra $40 a few days later for additional S/H, they never invoiced me for it, nor did the tell me in any other way that they were going to charge extra, I had to find out from my bank because the account was overdrawn. I emailed their customer service to see why they charged me extra, several days later I get a reply from Vivian stating that it was for S/H at which point I told her that had not received any notification that I would be charged and I had not agreed to an extra charge. This is when Vivian's horns and tail come out (if you've ever seen Monty Python's "Argument Clinic", multiply that by 1000, ad some crazy insults that only Vivian understands, name calling and a little foul language, and voila you have Vivian), she told me that they had sent an invoice and that it was in their Terms & Conditions that they could charge any amount of extra shipping they wanted to (I read their Terms and Conditions page and they never stated that), all of this of course was mixed with a plethora of abuse. I asked her to send me a copy of the invoice she said they had sent, she just shot back with more and more emails about how they can charge whatever they want, and that she didn't have time to mess with dissatisfied customers, the emails went on forever and I finally just dropped the subject and let them steal the $40 from me, this however did not stop her from sending nasty emails to me.

As for the quality of the oils; most of them were reasonably good quality but two of them seemed watered down a bit, I know EOs vary from place to place but those two were not of acceptable quality.

Live and learn, I will never buy from them again.

If they can't even provide civil customer service on a $700 order, I'd hate to see what you get if you order $30 of EOs.

Made two batches of Lavender soap with the Lavender 40/42 EO. Both batches were garbage. I have been making soap for almost 20 years. I have sold hundreds of bars of my soap locally. I have made many batches of Lavender 40/42 EO soap. This is first time I used Camden-Grey Lavender 40/42 EO. All my ingredients were new and good. My formula was right - just made some Bay Rum with it and it turned out perfect. Something is definitely very wrong with their Lavender 40/42 EO. I have read that some companies dilute their EO's with alcohol or other fillers to get their profits up. I hope Camden-Grey would never do this, but something is definitely wrong with the Lavender 40/42 EO they sent me. Their price was significantly lower than other companies, and that is why I purchased from them. But now I am out A LOT of money (the EO, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Castor Oil, Palm Kernel Flakes, Lye) - not to mention the time I invested in making both batches. Very upsetting.

I’ve been a customer of this store for over ten years, and have only rave reviews! Their products, pricing, and honesty are truly exceptional. I’ve tried so many suppliers- return to Camden Grey over and over again.

I've been a customer for over 8 years. Plugging other companies on these reviews? Really? Jeesh. Get your own blog. Here's the scoop. You WILL NOT like them if a) you are used to fake, watered down, commercialized "play" products and don't know how to handle or what to expect from truly natural essential oils; and b) if you can't read, comprehend and follow directions re: their terms of service or offers and you're looking forward to ripping them off in some way. If that's the case, just stick with your high-volume factory, pyramid scheme companies. They are there for you precisely because they KNOW you're ignorant. They can afford your chicanery because they're used to dealing with high-volume, low class fools. No need to bash Camden-Grey because YOU expect junk, didn't do your product research and don't know how to add a code again or re-enter the shipping method when you add or remove an item from your cart. I've never had a problem because I know the nature, properties, risks and how to handle what I'm ordering and how to order it using their site. Go on with yourself. Enjoy the smell of burning cooking oil when you mist or burn other companies' "essential" oils. As well, you seriously can't put other companies' crap in a perfumers alcohol and expect it to blend or age well to a mature stable parfum. I can even create amazing things with just the 3 small complimentary samples they send at my request with every order. (Again, if you can follow their directions, you'd know know to get free samples, too.)
