Camera Land NY

I ordered an e-m5 from cameraland Jun 14 and received it June 24 (which is pretty decent given that this camera is mostly out of stock). Their system is a bit old fashion relative to more modern retailers (this is not a bad thing but I had to use the phone to place the order and receive updates; they always found the order promptly and responded very politely but naturally this is a method that would not scale. I have no complaints. Item was well packed and shipped fed ex without extra charge.

I do wish the web presence was a bit more modern (for example lenses could not be ordered via the web for this item)

I was searching for a Sigma APO 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM Lens for Canon online but it was very hard to find because it's now a discontinued product by Sigma. I also wanted to buy one that was new and under factory warranty. I searched one by one through Sigma's Authorized Dealer list checking each stores' website. I found 3 dealers that showed it was in stock but Camera Land NY had it for the lowest price of the 3. I placed my order with Camera Land NY but then they told me it was on back order but not to worry because they lens would be arriving soon from Sigma to their store. 2 days later I got my tracking number that they had shipped it and in 3 days from that time I received my new Sigma lens. All in all despite the back order from the time I placed my order to the time I received my lens was just one week so I am very pleased with their service and commitment to deliver me my product.

I ordered a Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD lens on 3/21/11 and received it today 3/23/11. NOW THAT'S REALLY FAST!!! I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
It was packaged real well. I paid $619.00 and no shipping cost. That's a great price and tremendous service.
The lens takes great pictures, so Cameraland has good lens copies. I just bookmarked this store. Thanks Cameraland and luv your picture, that you sent me. real thoughtful...Lawrence

Great guys, ordered Tue. afternoon and my item was here Thur. morning with free shipping! Definitely NOT one of the NY ripoff camera stores that seem to be everywhere anymore. I will definitely be placing more orders with this place. It was also the cheapest price I found anywhere even without the free shipping.

The only problem I had is that on the website it said " free pair of binoculars with any Vortex rifle scope purchase" I didn't receive the binoculars so I called CS and they told me it didn't apply to the model I ordered. I told them it said "any", not specific models and they pretty much told me "oh, well"

Still the best deal I found even though I thought that the free binocular situation could have been handled better, I mean if you offer something then you should have to own up to it. I'll go back in a week and see if they changed it.

I am an amateur photographer, and before I buy an item, I generally spend a lot of time doing research on products I want to buy, and sellers that I should buy from.

However, there wasn't much about this store that you can find in the website, and I come across Camera Land by chance when I saw its ads in "a.m. New York" and decided to give it a try. It is an authorised agent for major camera brands and lens brands.

My latest purchase with Camera Land was a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 in Sept this year. I want one badly, Amazon and bigger stores are $100 more expensive (they ask for $699). I called this store up and spoke to Joel, one of the store's owners, and asked about this item. It was in stock at the RRP ($599). I ordered one, and I received this item 2-3 days later.

My first purchase with Camera Land was a Nikon D90, and a Nikkor 50mm f1.4D. I still remember the D90 I took home has a shutter defect (i.e., the shutter speed doesn't change when I use the shutter priority) and went back for an exchange the next day. The item was replaced and I was given a discount for purchase of filter, extra battery, SD card, for the trouble of bringing it back due to the defect. Subsequently, I bought a Nikkor 18-200mm VR via a friend from the same store.

In July this year, I bought a Nikon D5000 for my wife.

Most of my transactions are done with Joel, who has good knowledge of the products he sells.

This store does not necessarily sell the goods cheaper (but they are comparably priced) than other stores, although sometime it does offer special rebate or discount. But need to call to find out.

Also, it certainly does not have full range of products as the bigger stores like B&H, J&R - there were time it does not carry the items that I was looking for - but it compensate by providing friendly services.

On top of the price and good service, Camera Land is reliable.

I have purchased from Doug at CameralandNY for several years now and the service level and professionalism has always been 100%. Plus their pricing on the items I purchase is more than competitive. 20 stars plus for Doug and his people at CameralandNY.

As someone who had a long career in retail from store clerk to executive, I can tell you that Cameraland provided me with great service. When you do a high volume business it is an unfortunate fact that you cannot meet every customer's expectations no matter how hard you try. Often with some customers everything that can go wrong, will, regardless of your efforts to the contrary.

I was looking for a Nikon D7000 which is backordered everywhere. Either that or some companies are taking advantage by charging hundreds more. I generally buy my photo equipment from the usual sources like B&H and Amazon. I stumbled across Cameraland in my quest and gave them a call. Joel had the camera in stock with a USA warranty for a very low price and with free shipping. He did not try to up-sell me a bunch of accessories or memory cards. He just took my information and said I would have the camera in about 2 days. Less than 24 hours later FedEX was at my door with the camera!

I believe, I finally found the best vendor to support my needs for photo/optical equipment. And boy over the years I tried few from B&H and Adorama to Abe's, Beach Camera, Unique Photo, etc. Not that I was unhappy with most of them. I would say exactly opposide, except I always felt that I am one of zillion, and no personal connection what so ever. Guy's from Unique Photo and Buydig.com were closest to being ideal ......... until by accident I came across of Camera Land NY (http://www.cameralandny.com/) through purchasing Olympus E-P2 on eBay. The way seller handled purchase drew my attention and after researching through various channels (big thanks to ResellerRating.com and number of reviewers for their postings) including Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus and others I subsequently purchased Panasonic DMC-GH1, Panasonic Lumix 14-140mm lens, Nikon D3S. All items genuine US versions, shipping is free and very quick, packaging is good, pricing is phenomenal (I even got discount on D3s which is unheard!!). But most importantly owner of the store - Joel Paymer, does not hesitate to answer the phone, remembers your name and what you bought. More so, he possesses a qualities that hard to find these days - he has ample of experience, honest and a straight shooter! No beating around bushes or empty promises - he does what he says, and my four purchases are testament to that. Needless to say, I emailed my "laundry" list to Joel, and look forward to getting couple new Nikon and Olympus lens soon. I deal with many vendors for my computer consulting business, and seldom get excited about any. This one is exception!!

I bought a Zeiss rifle scope from Cameralandny for a hunting trip to Alaska. When I discovered the scope to be defective, which is rare because Zeiss makes quality products, I called Zeiss to rectify the problem. Zeiss said I would have to send the scope in and they would send it off for repair and let me borrow a refurbished scope in the meantime. Obviously that was unacceptable. I had bought this scope specifically for this trip. So I called Camerlandny and spoke to Neal. Within 5 minutes I received a return call from Neal saying that a new scope was on the way and would be here by the weekend. When I received the new one I simply put the old one back in the box and returned it postage paid. That is the definition of customer service! Thanks Camerland. I will definitely recommend you!

Excellent communication and lightning quick shipment- I think this may be my new first choice for on-line purchases.
