Co-operativeinsurance.co.uk Reviews & Complaints (30)

Purchased car four weeks old. Aggragate lorry sheds stones chips paint work all over bonnet and bumper. Informed CO-OP who dealt with repair very quickly. Provide Dash cam footage of incident expecting them to recoupe costs from haulage firm. No...they were inept said cam footage was inconclusive, absolute lie. Would not fight claim on behalf of THIER client. Kept hold of complaint for so long was not able to pursue claim elsewhere within made a formal complaint admitted decisions made at the outset were inaccurate, but still would not fight the case even though i made it clear a court would find in my favour. Then told claim would be recorded against my policy. When challenged they stated 'ITS OK YOUVE GOT PROTECTED NO CLAIMS. This insurance company are a joke. They do not fight for thier client, and just want to avoid any difficult work such as pursuit of any claim. **DO NOT TOUCH THIS BONE IDLE COMPANY**

Would of been zero my partner tried to change his vehicle to a new one to only be told that they can no longer insure him and hes lost his Ncb because someone drove into the back of him last December and the claim was settled between the insurers without them even informing him and their trying to say he caused £8900 worth of damage but his insurance never went up and Visa was also called out to the incident and was more then happy for him to drive away as it was nothing on his part their now saying it's been disputed but could take 2-3months but in the mean time he wont get insured on any vehicle what so ever knowing he has to travel to and from work theyv screwed him over in the worst way possible their the shittest company ever

I would give them a minus review if possible, easy to take your money but when it comes to helping you they can not be bothered and love blaming third parties! Stay clear of them!

I write this on 30.1.20, had my car stolen 18.12.19, I’m still being messed about with inane questioning regarding the theft which was reported immediately to police, car found miles away in Doncaster. I’ve had no vehicle all this time!! Do not use COOP Insurance, u will regret it if you have to make a claim. They’re only interested in taking your money. Customer care is atrocious.

These people without warning some 3 months later took £95 on my credit card They said I had not declared some info so had the right to take this money. Had 3 very heated arguments with them as they failed to provide proof that they had written to me about it. To this day have NEVER provided that proof.

I had a non fault accident in December 2019. Because I didn't take their courtesy car, they asked me to pay £150 excess when delivering my car after repair. I am still waiting for my refund. When calling them, it takes an hour or longer to get through to customer service. Bad service and would not advise anyone to get your car insured by Coop Eco insurance. It's better to pay a little higher than having so much of hassles.

the problem is the charges if you make any changes or if you miss a payment even if you pay within a few days they charge you £20 it has cost me a thrid more just because of charges which i think is daylight robbery never used to have charges like these and you do most of the work yourself online

After 28 as a customer I rang to say the rental quote of 531-71 was way to expensive and I was able to get the same cover for 233-56 could it be reduced was asked if any changes were to be made advised no and the reply I got was no it can't be reduced advised I will be contacting the new provider and the answer I got was do you want me to cancel this from the renewal date disgusting I said no I'll call back to do it when my new one is set up it is set up now 297-15: cheaper this one will be cancelled today as will my building and contents one once it is due for renewal my advice is no loyalty to continuing custom

£402 increase in premium because of one claim (in my entire >30 years of driving) that cost the insurer a total of £500 in repairs. £135 cancellation fees. Beware. The Co op has MANY HIDDEN CHARGES:( It feels like tempting fate having the car insurance with a company long established in arranging funerals.

The Co-op & there Many sub contractors cancelled our Premier Inn room and sent our family of 3 BACK to our Biohazard of a home when mh 9 year old son has Asthma & was having a tooth extracted the next day!! No 'like for like' couple of rooms fir a family to survive in, NO a small family room, which they then telephoned us at 10:26an yesterday and told us to categorically 'leave the Premier Inn' and go BACK to our home where we are forbidden from using the toilets And told NOT to use the running water!! Avoid this company and ALL their subcontractors like the plague!! Have had monstrous treatment ftom them, no empathy whatsoever, will take this to The Financial Ombudsman their 'remedial work' if its not done to THE highest standards, so should you. Be warned.

wish I'd read these reviews before starting the policy, cancelling after just six days, annoying they'll be charging cancelling fees for the privilege of experiencing such a sloppy business. Co-Op - please read and address these issues, you're embarrassing the brand. Your contractor installing dashboard boxes is useless - sends emails asking to confirm installation date, but despite sending 3 confirmations to supplied email address as request kept coming, installation was cancelled. Why not just email a link that can be clicked to confirm like every other website does ? And don't ask to call your number, only to be told "we're really busy, call back later" as the default message... Then all the requirements to send documents - been insuring cars for 30 years, no other company requires this. There are now online databases to get licence and insurance details, you don't need the rigmarole of 'log in to gov.uk, request, code, print pdf, send image'. Copy of statements to confirm address ? what's that all about, even banks have stopped that. Feels like this operation has been set up by amatuers, wanting a piece of the lucrative young persons car insurance pie. Be careful...

I agree with another reviewer Sedgewicks are only out to reduce the amount of money paid out on claims and do not give true cost for putting damage right. After a year we managed to get another 1K added on but total still fell far short of actual cost of work. I have only given 1 star as 0 star option not available. I made a complaint but it was not upheld by the Co op, they would not pay for water damaged vanity unit, said they would only pay if it fell apart when removed. A year later this was included in the extra payment after they asked for photos. Why weren't photos taken by their original surveyor? Absolute rubbish service.

It would be a good thing to add a policy for insurance of more than one vehicle l will have to insure with a different insurer when my policy term is completed due to having another vehicle l drive on very few occasions maybe 1600 miles a year kind regards Jim McHale

After more than 20 years banking with the Co-operative Bank including ISAs, current accounts, mortgage and insurance we needed some help for the first time with our car. We had broken down a long way from home with our young family and needed immediate help. I had mistakingly not ticked the breakdown cover box when booking the insurance - something I had always ticked before for the 10 years or so I'd had my car insurance with them. The policy papers were never sent to us, something we kept telling them but each time they said they'd send the papers again - we never received them and so didn't see that the breakdown cover option was not selected. They do not offer an email or download option for the policy papers - what century do they think this is? I agree that forgetting to option the breakdown cover was a mistake on my part but the way the Co-op treated me was appalling. There was no bend or give or gesture of good will. We have since pulled all our banking away from them and can't wait for the insurance renewal date to arrive so we can say goodbye forever. Shame on you Co-op - the most uncooperative bank you'll find.
