4 stars, love the fact you provide extended pregnancy cover up to 30 weeks but the price was quite hefty for the short time I was away.
It was better to be covered for any scenarios that could happen for my unborn child. Thank you.

We always purchase annual
Travel insurance and found the Columbus Direct Rate to be the most realistic and have changed to them this year.

The process was not transparent and I ended up being charged double the quote for the same services and pre-existing conditions named 12 months ago

Booking travel insurance online with Columbus Direct was simple and easy, they were also the only provider to offer Pregnancy extension cover out to 30 weeks, which was perfect for my needs.

We have been using Columbus Direct for many years, we have had to make a claim one year and also contact the emergency number for advice on one trip. I have always been impressed with their customer service and it is extremely reassuring that despite perhaps only contacting the call centre once per year I so often speak to the same friendly guy, how often can you say that about a call centre!

I have used Columbus direct 3 times now for my travel insurance and have had no problems with the service I have received. The only thing that annoyed me is that about 2 weeks ago I took out my recent insurance and within a few days of taking it out I received an email saying I would get discount off my next policy. Very unhappy to get that after just taking a policy out

As the only company offering travel insurance for people past 26 weeks pregnant in NZ you don't have a lot of choice. But when I asked on the phone why their policies in the rest of the world didn't place this limitation the girl on the phone couldn't give any information except saying it was "better" and "covered more things". When I expressed shock at their price, she suggested I book it later on the website rather than call back which isn't really the service you expect. So either the rest of the world is being sold a policy that isn't up to snuff or Kiwi's are being ripped off - although they've so far not responded to emails asking which it is. We'll have to use them due to lack of other options, but they won't be getting any more business from us as they hardly inspire confidence.

We used columbus recently on a trip to Japan. We got caught up in a typhoon and had to make lots of alternative arrangements to return to NZ. Columbus were great and covered the extra costs we had to incur.

My husband has a pre-existing medical condition that we have been unable to get cover for from either AIG (travel insurance under our credit card) or Southern Cross (our medical insurer). When I rang Colombus they treated his condition on a more individual basis, asking more specific questions and agreed to cover his condition (at a slight extra cost). I guess the proof will be if we have to make a claim in the future to see how Colombus perform but so far so good!
