Honest, reliable and no bull, the process from start to finish went smoothly and on time, from the initial home visit right up to the installation and completion I cannot find fault at all, the guys who fitted the windows were outstanding and very professional (they didn't stop for tea, smoke or lunch breaks, they just kept working and at the same time were friendly and helpful) we are more than happy with the quality of the frames and the security locking system is far superior to any other company out there, I have already placed an order for a new front door (my existing one is only 18months old, but the quality is no way the standard) and is being fitted next week. Would I recommend First Home Improvements...YES without any hesitation, I don't normally write reviews for services or purchases but on this occasion I have nothing but praise and gratitude, its what I call 'old school customer service and craftmanship' well done First Home Improvements and a massive thank you.

The two guys, Robert and Clint worked hard and did a great job.
They volunteered help and were tidy and efficient.

The fitter was excellent in everyway,polite worked non stop even though he was on his own when I thought it should have been two of them.He didn’t stop for any break and left everything perfect not a wrap of dust .

The two day originally planned had to be changed to two teams fitting all windows in one day which they achieved although it was difficult for me to have 4 men working at the same time. However I would recommend the firm.

All in all we had a good service from the time the salesman came round to quote to the time the fitters and builder installed a set of french doors and a separate window

The fitter was very pleasant cleared all the mess and made a first class job

Just had a quote that was supposed to be a "quick measure up and quote", two hours of old school sales pitches and pressure tactics later I definately won't be purchasing from them.

Firstly I had someome knock on the door saying he noticed I have a "blown window" which is true and I could get a quote from someone in a "hazmat suit". Seemed like a normal human and I was interested, to be honest, if he quoted there and then in ten minutes I would have been happy, what followed was the opposite. Received a call from their office to confirm I was happy to go ahead with social distancing measures, etc, fine. Then an hour later, a salesman with the worst sales pitch in the world turned up with no PPE, benefit of the doubt I went ahead anyway.... Later noticing dirty finger nails, clearly not the hygiene you'd expect during a pandemic!!

Lots of games being played to make you think you're getting a special "portfolio deal" which means you get a discount... Why?! Prices are only available today, telling me why big competitors are rubbish.... Not the best way to go about business.

The salesman called the office multiple times during the pitch to get a "portfolio reservation" to make you think its a limited offer, then again to tell some random bloke I will not be accepting the offer, then again to get further discounts based on recycling the old windows and additional marketing of having a advertising board outside my house to pressure me in to saying yes today.

Original price £9.5k, quickly dropped to £4.3k.... How is that even possible? Margins on the £9.5k price must be 70%+, daylight robbery.

The quality of the windows seems great but I couldn't trust a word being said so who actually knows.



Feedback for First Home Improvements;

Remove the 1980's sales pitch, stop playing ridiculous games and offer a good product at a good price, be honest!

If your products are as good as you claim, it's such a shame the quality is being overshadowed by the terrible selling method.

Edit: Price now reduced to £3.7k to restart the business after lockdown.

Worth noting this quote was for 4 normal white UPVC windows in a small terraced house, property value around £230k

I am thrilled with my new windows, all installed in one day. The installers arrived on time, got on with the work, did an excellent job and cleaned up afterwards. Only problem I had was in getting the scaffolding removed, however staff at first Improvements were very helpful and got the matter resolved quickly. I would recommend First Improvements to friends and family.

Today , had mark a representative, come to our house to talk through the different schemes we could do , was under no obligation to go through with it , despite previous negative comments , was
given a very good price and he was very helpful and getting us the best product for what we could afford

I found First Home Improvement very informative, polite and very helpful from beginning to end.nothing was too much trouble and all my questions were answered. The day of Fitting Andy Taylor and Nick Parry were spot on 8 am and they got straight on with the job, were very polite and very efficient at all times. Altogether a very satisfactory installation I wouldn't hesitate to recommend First Home Improvement to anyone.

I ordered a new back door which was made to measure and ready for installation within a few weeks. The process started with a 'cold call' on the doorstep which is not something I normally follow up as it nearly always leads to pressure selling later on.

The salesman visited within a couple of hours and used the usual techniques including showing me an example of the product and I have to say that I was very impressed with the build and quality of the item. I declined the opportunity to purchase a complete suite of windows and doors but as my back door really needed to be replaced, I went ahead on this basis only.

The workmen arrived on time and did an excellent job fitting the new door, polite and courteous they cleared up afterwards. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

First Home Improvements installed a second window recently and it looks very smart. The work was carried out quickly and cleanly, the men also kindly cleared a gutter, hard to access, removing plant life that had collected over time, a free service for which I am grateful. I am in self islolation due to Covid-19, so the workmen kept a safe distance the whole time.

Had a young chap come round yesterday to quote me on new front door and 2 half moon windows either side of the door. Chap satrting to talk about the company history and so on. He then took some measurements and sat down wth his calculator for best part of 10 mins and then hit me with a quote for £5000 Ouch. He then juggled his figures if I was to have a board outside for 10weeks and the price dropped to £4000. I told him that my wife had the same work done by another company for £1200 but gave him the benefit that I did not know what standard the doors or windows was. This is where we get the "managers special price" he then phoned his manager and after several mins the price dropped to £1800. He then asked me if that is a price I could go ahead with and I said "yes" but I wont be under principle, young chap looked bemused, I pointed out that your company has just tried to screw me out of £2200 of clear profit, you wanted £4000 but will be willing to do it for £1800 and for that dishonesty I wont be doing business with you, if you gave me the best price first then things could have been different. I understand companies have to make a profit but to go from £5000 to £1800 that just takes the "$%^&".

Had a sales man come over and he told us the price he will quote is the price and there will be no changes of the price it will be fixed for 2 years. (We only had the foundations down and no walls of the extention) we were given a quote for 14 windows and two doors. The quote was about 11K.
We said initially were were not prepared to sign as we had other quotes to get and choose.
He was happy with that.
So....when we did not sign that evening the price was a "one day only price" and the Fixed new price was going to be 25K..... I queried the MASSIVE difference and questioned the offer and it was moved to a " until the end of the week" but it will be more than 11k.
I reminded him about what he said initially and he took enormous offence and got very defensive about being honest and not getting commission. He was then moody and couldnt leave quick enough.
Now we really liked the product and the guarantee etc but I do not like hard/pressure sales and do not like salesmen who get arsey when things dont go his way and when he is questioned.

Replacement windows x 6, 1 more requiring brick-up to sill height, and sliding patio doors Really impressed with the level of service.

Fantastic windows and door, salesman was very professional and the crew fitting them went over and above their duties, on a wet and very cold day. Can not say enough about this company, you will never find better, how lucky my husband and I were in finding them.
