I deposited £500 and bought a selection of some nice, stable dividend-paying stocks which even with the current crisis had only dipped a small amount. I’m currently £50 up woooo! Not that it matters as I’m going to be looking at a 5-10 year+ timeframe on this account. I’m planning to deposit £200 each week and invest without fail.
This is a great alternative to Robinhood and WeBull which everyone in the States seem very keen on. Freetrade is just the totally commission-free version that’s available in the UK. It’s very easy to use and gives a nice overview of recently purchased shares, dividend payment histories and dividends you’ve recently taken payment of into your account.
If you use my link https://freetrade. io/freeshare/?code=VW3NWGFVZG&sender=tHb3OrX8 (remove the space before io) when signing up you’ll get a free share worth up to £200 in your newly created account (I’ll also get one). You must fund your account with a minimum of £1 to receive the free share.
I used a random persons sign up code from the reviews here (my free share was worth about £20, which I'm happy with for something which only took a couple of minutes).

Fantastic team and ISA is brilliant with £3 month flat fee. No trading or custody fees. What's not to love. Enjoying saving for retirement. So happy to be a customer and love researching my portfolio. Great articles to and twitter content. Keep up the great work!

There is no phone number! Emails are not replied to. There is a chat board and your messages are read literally every 24 hours.
Im talking to everyone who will be tempted to use this account to trade! Dont!!!
This is a mickey mouse company that is not serious in any way shape or form! Once my account is back to normal I will pull out every single penny and never look back.

Their spread (difference between their "estimated" price which you commit to and the actual execution price of your order) can be wildly different, in some cases more than 2%, which is extremely unreliable and can result in losses if you are trading at fine margins on larger amounts. In fact, the spread is so wild that i am pretty certain they are building in hidden charges, because in one case my execution price for a sale was less than the lowest trade point the stock had been at all that day! Freetrade's justification is that their advertised price is for indicative purposes only, yet there is no option to review the final execution price before it is committed. This is not acceptable when trading real money on financial markets, especially when their displayed pricing is only "estimated".
Orders also regularly fail, and their excuse for this is that there are no buyers/sellers to match your orders, despite me being able to make the same execution on other platforms.
There are also numerous bugs in the app, which they have tried to iron out over time but continue to persist. In one case this included temporarily losing my deposited funds, which was only reconciled after i queried it...
All in all, you get what you pay for. If you want basic and simple, maybe it is worth a go. But for anything more, or if trading sizeable funds, stay clear.

No issues to report so far but have not used the app for long, so have given 4 stars out of 5 for that reason.
I also got a free share by clicking on someone's link to join. You can also do the same using the link below:

Would like to support the wave of new FinTechs out there taking on traditional banks and financial service providers but this is one to stay far away from.

On the cons side:
-doesn't have web interface and their app is limited in terms of graphs and analysis. It's very, very basic so you will have to use other tools.
-you can't set Stop Loss, Take Profit or sell your stocks when there are no buyers. I had a situation when I was trying to sell my stocks for hours and the transaction was declined without giving me any reason. I've asked on the chat for the reason and after several hours they told me that's due to the fact that there are no buyers so advised to try to sell it every couple minutes/hours... This is ridiclious, and I have never seen such a poor User Experience using any other broker's platform. I can't imagine siting whole day, trying to sell stocks, hopping that there will be buyers at a certain point of time. What if the stock is going super low and you want to sell it ASAP. I had a quite stresfull day because of that, even though it wasn't going up or down that much. Biggest con!
-If you want to withdraw, you have to wait for the funds to "settle" for 2-3 days or even longer, after you sold your stocks. For some this happens and for some it doesn't. No idea what's the logic behind it.
Overall I've withdrawn all the funds from them and moved to also free, but more advanced broker 212. I actually created both accounts at the same time to compare and 212 is much better in every aspect (it's not the best one I guess, but good for start). So I wouldn't waste your time on Freetrade and would pick up something that already works and will save you lot of stress and frustration/
