I had a bad experience with FreightCenter.com and the contracted delivery service, ABF. I'm not a corporate client so these comments regard a retail shipment. Freight Center quoted me a shipping price up front, which I paid. The delivery arrived via ground; although the item (a ~$2,300 bathroom vanity purchased on eBay from a secondary seller) arrived on time, it was damaged badly during shipment. Damages were north of $500 to repair. I filed a claim; ABF reimbursed me $31. Six weeks later, ABF automatically billed my credit card on file a second time for an amount that was 50% more than the original amount quoted. Mind you, the first payment transaction had already been completed six weeks prior, and the shipping service had already been completed. I received no advance notice that ABF was revising the original quote and billing me a second time for an amount equal to half of the first payment. ABF claimed that an auditor had found a discrepancy in the total shipping weight, which necessitated them charging my card for an additional payment. I reported this as fraud to my credit card servicer; however, I've been informed that I agreed to the terms and conditions in the fine print, up front. I consider this predatory and unethical, and I won't do business with either of these companies again. If you work with these folks, I recommend a dose of caution.

Dont use them. Period. I'm a business owner and ship approx $200-250K per year in combined shipping (parcel, crates, ltl, etc) and have shipped with multiple shippers over the years and these guys are the worst. Stay away. My scales are certified every 30 days and dead accurate. We always add a few extra pounds to each BOL just to cover bases but we constantly got these double weight overcharges and they take the money out of your account first, then you have to fight for months to get it back even if you have all the proof. What broke our relationship was a shipment of 2 custom hand made tables worth $12,500 for my client and over the course of a month, lost it. It was only going 300 miles. Its a 2 day delivery tops. I even paid an additional $500 for another truck through them to go pick it up and drive it to my now extremely upset client and they kept that money as well. Took weeks to get a return phone call or email and then it was "well, just wait for our decision in 120 days". Some of the reps are friendly but its the infrastructure and lack of accountability that makes this company a huge liability for shipping. From one small business owner to another, dont. There are lots of other options.

We have shipped our furniture for nearly 20 years and we know our weights are accurate. We shipped 6 identical bar stools at the agreed upon rate of $384.00. A month later we received an ADDITIONAL charge of $550.00 as they said our weights were incorrect. They claimed that each stool weighs somewhere between 60 - 90 pounds!! Even though they are identical. We even sent them photos showing the stools on the scale showing it weighs 35 pounds as we originally reported. It is going on 3 months now and still no word on our credit. From reading several other reviews from different sites this seems to be a standard business practice for them. We have also reported this as fraud to our credit card company.

Dont ever do business with Freightcenter or R&L Carriers. Ripoff artists!!! I used Freightcenter to ship a crate from Idaho to New Jersey in September. I logged onto my Freightcenter account and requested a quote. I was absolutely truthful in my quote, specifically that the crate was going to be picked up at a business (not residential) and no liftgate was required. We provided the forklift and loaded it onto the truck. I weight the crate so it was spot on. The address was exactly as quoted. The quote came back as $243 so I booked the shipment. Much to my surprise, I see a charge in December (over 2 months after the shipment) from Freightcenter for $208. I logged into my account and see "Additional Charges (High Cost Pickup Area (Correct Pickup Zipcode is 83401))". I called Freightcenter to dispute the charges and they agreed the pickup area was not a "high cost pickup area", it is on one of the city's main thoroughfares; Holmes Ave. Even if I had stated the wrong zip code it did not change anything. They also stated that there was nothing they could do since this was a charge passed on to them from R&L Carriers. Both Freightcenter and R&L Carriers refused to refund my money. As mentioned, I did everything by the book on the quote; the weight was accurate, no liftgate was required, and we loaded it onto the truck with a forklift which took literally 2 minutes.

Hello, I'm not sure which company was in Flagstaff at the Sinclair on August 18th around noon, but I want to share an exeperience we had with some truckers. We were on our way to Phoenix to see our new grand-daughter and we stopped at Sinclair to fill up. We were approched by one of the drivers there telling us that one of the men there was handing out $100.00 bills because he had just won a bunch of money. We followed him over to the group in our car, I stayed in the car. My husband got out to see what was going on, and this guy was doubling whatever money the other truckers were giving him. They forced my husband to get his wallet, he did, unfortunately. He opened his wallet to see what money he had, the one guy grabbed it, gave it to the $100.00 man, who immediately got up and disappeared and so did the rest of the truckers. We lost $1000.00 that day, money that was to go to our son. We were lucky they didn't take his wallet and get into our car. These trucks were white, with some initials on it (I'm thinking RC or something like that and one of the drivers had a new golden retriever puppy. We were so scammed, and we are so pissed off! This needs to be addressed and people need to be warned. Loss of faith!

ABF Pro 089252750 shipment:

I recently shipped with Freight Center for medical equipment going to California from Georgia. When I created the shipment I was going on past experiences with other broker type companies. I shipped the refurbished imaging equipment on a pallet with multiple levels of bubble wrapping and strapping to the pallet. The shipment was confirmed by a representative from freight center who called with the correct class and dimensions. At the time of BOL being prepared, the representative mentioned that additional insurance could be purchased but that carrier maintained insurance for the shipment as well. ABF Freight picked up the shipment based on unconfirmed testimonials of people who used Freight Center and this carrier? Shipment was delivered to customer in California completely unpackaged and off the original pallet (No White Glove Service). Driver delivered the equipment with wheel and monitor broken off cart system and again removed from strapped pallet. Driver did not note the damage at delivery and had a front office person sign for shipment without knowledge of damaged product! A claim for the damage was made with carrier in 48 hours who spent several weeks reviewing obvious damage photos and receipts for replacement. The claim was denied by representative of ABF because they stated the shipment did not follow the NMFC guidelines for packaging? If ABF and Freight Center are serious about this guideline then they should make all shippers crate their equipment and make it known on their website in addition to informing the customer they most certainly need to have additional insurance without fail because the carrier will always deny your claim! I'm very unimpressed with how ABF and in some part Freight Center accepted shipment and not making every effort to inform the customer that you are not covered no matter what? Freight Center should make every effort to mediate very obvious poor service by their company and shippers. I will continue to leave very bad testimonials of this service to help keep customers informed and until my claim is resolved appropriately.

A few hours before my crate was scheduled to be picked up on Feb.4, 2019, I got a call from ABF Freight to say that they could not get to me until Feb. 8, which was four days later. I called Freight Center and was informed that my rep. was out of the office and that I should call the next day. They also told me that I would need to upgrade to UPS if I wanted quicker service, which was several hundred dollars more than I had budgeted for the shipment. Because I was on a time and financial crunch with the shipment, I quickly found another carrier who immediately scheduled me for the next day. I assumed that Freight Center would gladly cancel the shipment with no cancellation fees because of all the extra hastle and poor carrier service. But no! They cancelled the shipment but charged me a 15% cancellation fee on $900 and some dollars. Do the math. I contacted them a few times to reason with them to no avail. Even though it was the carrier's fault that I had to cancel, I had to pay for it! Their policy is that no matter what the reason for the cancellation, the customer has to pay a cancellation fee, even if the fault is on Freight Center or their carriers.

Delivered my shipment which cost me $251 and month later got a charge for $537 for weight issue. product was only $630 that I shipped. I have contacted them several times to get this resolved without any response back. I had the delivery sitting in my garage for over a week and once I opened it there was damage and also a part was missing. I have no unable to file a claim with them for that as it's only 48 hours to file a claim. I emailed them on this without any response. Now I get a charge of $537 additional for this.

I will file a complaint with the BBB and everywhere I am able to ask this is scamming the customers without having the customer discuss and agree on something.

After 2 months fighting still nothing. Initiating claims through my bank and lawyers. It is amazing how they allow to operate a company like this. Same story as many of you, they charge in advance a pre agreed amount and 5 weeks later an additional 60% saying the size is different and that has been verified by licensed freight inspector. Surprisingly when they picked up the weight said everything was ok, nothing to be worried.

About 2 weeks after I paid and my shipment arrived at my customers, I receive an invoice for $240. They claim it was because they shipment weighed more than quoted and my class number was not correct. The fact is, the shipment actually weighs less than quote and the class number was determined by the rep I spoke to on the phone. I now have to go through the hassle of disputing and they are requesting I send in a picture of the shipment before shipped and at arrival. How the heck am I supposed to that? The only positive experience was it was easy working with them and the 2nd rep had great customer service and it may have been the first rep that screwed up my order. Do some research and looks like they've scammed a lot of people. If they don't resolve this with me or it takes more of my time, I will consider a class action lawsuit.

After shipping a small crate to my buyer, suddenly weeks later I was informed more money than I had paid originally for the actual shipping, was going to be taken out of my credit card because, they said they had to make a second delivery attempt, and to deliver inside a building.
They did indeed take further hundreds of dollars, but fortunately my bank reversed the charges for me after I told them it was fraudulent, but not before I had to go through the hassle of having my card cancelled and replaced because of it.
My recipient, a good Christian lady insists none of their claim is true. No matter, Freight Center turned the matter over to an aggressive and abusive collection agency called Cirrus Accounting out of Florida, who has been relentlessly pursuing me and threatening all kinds of legal action.
Cirrus accounting is a fraudulent company. It does not exist on the Florida Dept of State data base of companies, nor does its purported agent Cary D Gotcha. This is a scam, and I have reported it to State and Federal authorities.
I told them I have an affidavit from the recipient stating none of their claims are true. They literally told me "it does not matter what the recipient says" Well I will take the word of this good woman over these crooks.
Do NOT get involved with these people, they will try to ruin your life if you do not pay up on their fraudulent charges.

I was quoted 179.00 and got the bill for 537.86. They charged extra for everything. I agree on some on some of the extra but should have been told more detail. They didn't deliver inside but since my client didn't read what she was signing for we had to paid 90.00 for inside delivery. So for anyone reading this qet a total quote!

Generally OK for self-serve basic shipping but 1) constant overturn in staff lends to meaningless personal help and 2) they allow the carriers to fraudulently charge back (false weights, ...) and act as a barrier to resolving issues. Not only are they not willing to help, they will not provide escalation help - you are 100% on your own.

Done with this company.
