I am wondering when GameDude might be calling the manufacturer to establish an ETA on the replacement part. I would have thought contact from Office of Fair Trading would have given GameDude some motivation, obviously not.
GameDude's "partial" (less than 1/2) refund offer is laughable and lack of action in offering a replacement or even to call the manufacturer shows how little they value customers.
Services that take eight weeks :
Engine rebuild - NO
Buying a house - NO
Applying for passport - NO
Repairing a vehicle hit by a truck - Yes
Replacing a DVD Burner via GameDude - YES
End result - after Gamedude could not give a date for replacement they finally did the right thing and offered me another burner.
After my son, who works in IT, assembled it for me it would not work. We followed the instructions applicable to the fault code and it still did not work.
I assembled and disassembled the printer 4 further times to ensure there was no problem with the assembly.
The error message was LSU engine error.
I contacted Samsung who advised me that with that error message a technician would have to look at the machine, however as the error had occurred in a brand new machine I was entitled to a replacement machine (DOA warranty). This meant I would have to return the machine to where I purchased it.
I also spoke to the warranty department at GameDude with regard to the error message and they said a technician would have to look at the machine.
GameDude informed me that I would have to do this at my own cost. I asked if I could return it with their freight company at their rates and they said no. I got a quote for the freight which was $209. I rang GameDude and expressed my horror at this extra cost to me and they eventually agreed to their freight company collecting it which it did on 25th October.
I received a call on Friday 27th October from GameDude advising they had received the printer and it was working. They said they could find no fault so to get it back I would have to pay the freight both ways and a service fee. They said they would advise me when they had the amount.
I had not heard from them so today I rang them and they said the amount I had to pay into their account before they would return the printer was $145.
I argued that I had registered the fault with Samsung Reference 300210445 and had followed their advice in returning it due to the error message. I again spoke to Samsung who assured me they were happy to replace the machine and said that GameDude could call them to verify. I called GameDude and the warranty manager Conrad refused to make the call as “…he was far to busy with customers to do that”. I explained that I too was a customer.
I again called Samsung who were very cooperative and agreed to call Conrad. They did and called me back to say they had no luck as he was totally inflexible in his position and maintained that he would not replace the printer as there was nothing wrong with it. He maintains that the printer has no problem and has been tested for three days with no problem occurring, therefore I must pay the service fee and freight both ways. He would not accept that it may be an intermittent fault or that a fault existed when it was with me.
I then called GameDude to speak to someone else in authority. I was put through to the sales manager Adrian, who was fully aware of what was happening. I asked him why I would have gone through the arduous process of sending the machine back, if when it was with me there was no problem. I asked him if he was suggesting that there was no error message. He said they did not know if there was one. I said are you suggesting I am lying about it- he said he did not know and would not comment. He then put Conrad on who again told me he was sticking to his decision and Samsung now agreed with him.
I again rang Samsung who said that was untrue and they found him totally inflexible about the situation however there was nothing more they could do.
I again rang GameDude and spoke to Catherine. I asked to speak to the General Manager. She said they only had department managers. I explained the problem was with a department manager. I asked for the General Mangers name which she would not tell me. She said I could send an email to the [email protected]. I said I did not feel that it would get to who I intended it to. She put me on hold for several minutes and then Conrad came on line. I hung up.
I would like to add that every one of the people I have spoken to at Samsung have been incredibly supportive and helpful for which I am most grateful.

End result - after 8 weeks, and constant requests for a Part ETA, Gamdude did the right thing and gave me another (used 2nd hand) burner.
