The build was managed wonderfully, from our design stage with Joanne to our handover stage with Nick. Everyone provided great communication. We had issues with our broker and securing our finance in a timely manner, and as soon as it was approved, Sarah pushed us into the build as a priority client and the house was built very quickly. The cost was on par with what we had estimated at our design stage and we were able to build a very affordable first home, with the little luxuries we wanted, such as a free-standing tub and walk through master robe without breaking the bank.

We met Kristen a number of months prior to us actually signing up with Hickenbothams. We had some trials and tribulations that prevented us from getting to the start point but no matter what Kristen was there for us and this set the tone for our relationship throughout or build.

Kristen is a 'no-crap' type of person but within a gentle and kind wrapper.

Once we decided on the house, we wanted we sat down with Kristen and talked over our plans and what we wanted to do. For those who have been through this bit you will know is daunting at best, but Kristen was right there no matter the dumb question or design idea on my behalf. In the end she helped us make some very very smart decisions which today we reap the rewards of.

We had a bit of an unfortunate experience during our build but one again Kristen was right there in our corner getting things sorted out. Don’t let her pretty looks deceive you, she stands up for her clients and will do whatever she can to get a satisfactory outcome for you.

Kristen does her best to make sure when she is doing your initial quote that she is as accurate as she can be to prevent any 'bill shock' down the line. Her specialty is making sure your footings quote is as close to reality as possible. She was that good that ours was only $7k more than her estimate. In a $250k build and without an engineer’s report, that’s pretty bloody good in my book.

Even once we had our keys and we were moved in Kristen kept in contact to make sure everything was working out for us.

Her customer services skills are hands down some of the best that my wife and I have experienced. When you are building your forever home having Kristen in your corner really makes the journey a pleasant one.

From day 1, we received amazing customer service from everyone we dealt with at Hickinbotham, and especially from our sales consultant Cliff Green. He was honest and provided insightful advice regarding building a house not just for today, but for a long lasting family home. He helped us greatly with modifying our floor plan to make our home suit our family.

As this was our first build, we greatly appreciated Cliff's championing the whole build process, and especially for helping us with the council approvals. Without Cliff's guidance and assistance, we would still be waiting for Council approval as we have a significant tree in our backyard. He was able to negotiate with the council and redesign aspects of our build to not only suit the council requirements, but ours as well. We believe we ended up with a better home than originally planned thanks to Cliff. The pricing estimates he provided were accurate, and he explained why the estimates might change. Cliff also helped us find reputable companies/tradies e.g. demolition and arborist. We cannot speak highly enough of his lovely, positive and friendly personality. He is extremely knowledgeable about the building process and industry as a whole. We would recommend Cliff and Hickinbotham to anyone who wishes to build a home.

After the sales process, our colours consultant Kirstie, made what appeared to be an overwhelming selection process so much easier and less stressful. She was able to ascertain our styles from an initial discussion, and helped us make sensible and timeless choices.

During the build, we were fortunate enough to live next door and had an opportunity to observe the workers and site supervisor Neil hard at work. All the workers did an exceptional job. A special mention to the painter, Alfredo, for his attention to detail and tireless work. Our site supervisor Neil handled all our questions and fixed any minor issues during the build and after the final inspection in a speedy manner. His knowledge of the industry and positive relationship with the workers made things easier for us. Neil even gave us very helpful guidance for living in our new home, e.g. where to put the baby gate and how to complete post-build work.

Overall, Hickinbotham handled the entire process professionally and with amazing customer service.

We are in the process of building with Hickinbotham and are amazed at the progress we have made since starting to look at display homes about 4 months ago.

It has been a challenging process, visiting different builders and going through many designs and having so many options to choose from.
Initially we were rather lost, but thankfully, we came across sales rep Ian Zeng, at the Lightsview display home.

Right from the outset, he displayed a tremendous sense of enthusiasm and confidence in being able to deliver us the best outcome for our block.

Speaking to him, it is evident that he has been in the building trade for some time and is able to provide the best advice given a client's needs and circumstances.
He is also very happy to answer the numerous questions that we have posed to him, sometimes also outside of office hours.

All the liaising with council has been done by Ian and his team and we have not had to deal with the city council directly ourselves.

Ian has also displayed much creativity in the design process, being able to design a 3 way bathroom for our house, despite the space constraints.

Being first time home builder, it was not easy for us to make some decisions.
We are appreciative of the guidance and expertise offered by Ian and his team (eg. Bos) in providing advice during the planning phase.

We have completed colour selections and are now awaiting council approvals for our build.

Great work and we would definitely consider building with Hickinbotham again!

I started preparing to purchase my first home since October last year. After checking over thirty houses in the market, I decided to build my own house.
It's such a long process. Basically I have contacted all the building companies in South Australia, and I checked all the display homes in Lightsview, Enfield, Smithfield and Seaford. I got to know the details and prices offered by each building company, i even made a chart to compare the differences.

I have spoken with Ian Zeng over the phone before I physically met him in Lightsview. I was impressed by him after the first chat. He not only answered all my questions, also gave me plenty good suggestions including details. For some of my unrealistic ideas he did not say no directly like other consultants, but told me why it was not possible or unnecessary to do so.

In the end I choose Hickinbotham for Ian's sincere and thorough. Ian updates me promptly about the changes, and he doesnt mind taking up after-work time to answer my questions. All the info I received from him is transparent with no hidden charge or confusing offer.

Now I have signed the contract with Hickinbotham and waiting for the color selection. This is a really important choice of my life. I'm very excited, and I appreciate Ian's help through all the process.

Ian is the best building consultant I have ever met and I highly recommend him. He will never let you down.

This will be our first time building and we are at the early stages, but Drew at Moana has been extremely helpful and has made it a really enjoyable experience from the moment we walked into the show house, and we both feel that he has worked so hard for us.
Initially we were looking at show homes and none of them were quite what we wanted, even the Preston at Moana, but after a brief discussion with Drew as were on our way out he mentioned he could change the floor plan to suit our needs. We sat down went through a few things made a rough sketch of exactly what we wanted and within a week that was it, sold and signed up.

We have just received our master plans which has been a smooth process with great thanks to our building consultant, Kristen Williams! She has been thorough throughout the pre-construction phase and has been approachable and helpful and has put in so much of her own time and effort to create our dream home She is always available to answer our questions (and there have been a lot) and has been there every step of the way offering advice and feedback when we were unsure of things! We would highly recommended anyone building their home to work with Kristen, we are first time builders and home buyers so really had no idea what we were doing with plans and site position so to have someone who could guide us through was great and not at any point did we feel we were being talked down to or pressured into anything. we couldn't recommend Kristen enough

We'd like to thank Joanne Caruso from Hickinbotham for everything she has done for us throughout the pre-construction phase of our build. Joanne makes building a house easy. She was always happy to answer our questions, she is honest and upfront, and she is very knowledgeable. Being first home owners we were not sure if we could afford to build but Joanne was very willing to spend the time with us and work within our budget - if it wasnt for her we would not be building right now. She had made this whole process really enjoyable for us and would recommend her time and time again.

Drew has been amazing since day one, helping us to create our dream home. He always responds promptly to emails and no question is too silly! Thanks Drew for all your help and making this process a breeze. We look forward to seeing how the build progresses and the end result.

Michelle Bryant at Hickinbotham has made the Pre-construction Stage so much easier with her great customer service and attention to detail. As a first home buyer I was excited but nervous about building as I am learning everything along the way.Michelle has been happy to answer questions outside of work hours which has been very helpful due to hours I work and helped take the nerves away. Michelle was very quick and prompt getting back to me. The quote fit my budget and I got the floorplan I wanted with just a couple of edits with Michelle's help it was perfect for me. I would like to thank Ian and his team from Hickinbotham, who has been an exceptional building consultant and has done everything to ensure we got what we wanted, even he if he did not agree with us at times. He always gave us his professional opinion, but ensured he incorporated all our wishes as this is our first home and as we wanted to have everything we wanted. Making appointment with Ian was really easy and he would meet us within next day, if not the same day to ensure we were listened to. Ian was one of the most friendly, as well as professional person, we have come across. He followed up with us at all times, even before we decided to go with him for our build. We made changes to the master plans time and again to ensure it was the best suited for our family and our needs, and Ian and his team (Bos) were supportive at all times. I would definitely score 10/10 for Ian and his team, for the work they have done with us in our build. Hope the build process is as smooth as it was with Ian. My experience so far has been very good with the company, starting with Ian Zeng as the sales consultant and then been in touch with Katina Rennie during pre-construction stages and also working with Bobby Carroll during colour selection, it was all very good experience. All these guys (Ian, Katina and Bobby) were very helpful and were very prompt in responding to any queries i had. Thank you once again and i hope rest of the process for construction will be as smooth as possible

Thank you to Joanne Caruso for helping us with the purchase of our land and house, she went out of her way to make this so easy and enjoyable, we are only at prebuild stage but can't thank Joanne enough for her assistance, advice and communication with us, answering all our questions and concerns promptly, we would definitely recommend Joanne and we are now looking forward to selections and moving to our new home.

As a second time home builder, my wife and I have found Drew Westcott from Hickinbotham Homes, Moana Display Village to be absolutely fantastic & was a pleasure to do business with. Drew seems to work 24/7 as he is always prompt in responding to any of my queries & design changes via email (there were a lot of them) and it never seemed to bother him. Drew was particularly patient in making design changes and giving us sound advise on what options we should take. Drew was also very cool & calm when we brought our screaming kids into his office where they tested his patience & resilience. I look forward to the remainder of the build process with Hickinbotham.

We have just finished our pre construction phase which has been such a quick, smooth process with great thanks to our building consultant, Kristen Williams! She is such a thorough, outgoing, approachable person who put in so much of her own time and effort to create our dream home!! We had a bumpy start with miscommunication from our first consultant. Though when Tish took over we were properly taken care of. Louise was great with the pre construction process and helped with all our questions and sort answers efficiently. We are behind on schedule with the construction but hopeful it will be commencing soon.

Our consultant, Joanne Caruso, was brilliant!
We had come up with a rather awkward design of our own and Joanne was extremely helpful with acknowledging our emails/phone calls re: what we were trying to achieve in our “dream house” (How she managed to interpret some of our descriptions when we didn’t even know what we meant was very skillful! ).
Joanne also came up with things we hadn’t considered that made our floor plan flow so much better than what we had originally designed.
We had no issues with being kept up to date with the entire new build process as Joanne kept us informed with everything relating to our situation.
We would highly recommend Joanne as a consultant to anyone looking at building with Hickinbotham.

I have recently started my first home build with Drew and to date he has been a delight to work with. Right from the get go he has provided me with all the information I have need to make well informed and educated choices. He has been open, honest, thorough with all information and communication and has gone out of his way to make sure all my questions are answered. He has been incredibly helpful with choosing deigns and colours and has provided great insight knowledge to what makes a beautiful home.
