I looked at a lot of sites before I chose Hirt's to order some plants because they had the best price with shipping overall, and a wide selection of indoor plants. i do not know about others, but I received very nice size and healthy plants for the price, that others just offer bare root, or tiny sprigs of the same plant.these were the delicate asparagus ferns. One of the plants I ordered turned out to be out of stock and I was given a larger plant and refund of the missing plant promptly for my inconvenience. I don't think it gets better than that for me at least.

Why do you keep price gouging the Bonnie spider plant? I have it tacked to my cellphone on my back wall because I wanted to purchase it. Everytime I bring it up it's $22, then it's $9, then it's $20, then it's $8.50, so I did not bother purchasing a plant, because you're up and down with the price I don't understand why it doesn't say one price. You certainly are not consistent oh, so I ordered it elsewhere.

I've ordered 4 Monkey Puzzle Plants worth $81.45 sometime last week. Got an email saying it on the way, USPS said left@front door. It wasn't there when I looked, contact Hirts (Alan Hirt) wrote back; "contact your local post office and ask them where they delivered you package. Also talk with your local carrier." I did all that, the USPS asked me to contact the buyer.... now I am frustrated!!! I wrote back asking please delivery my plants on the side door, DO NOT leave @the front door. This what I got back "sorry, you will have to deal with USPS, they say they delivered the package!" When is this my problem.....? I am mad, angry and frustrated ....what the F I'll have to dispute my charged unless I get my apology and my plants.....it's $81.45 not cheap!!!

I ordered a watermelon peperomia from Hirts and I was expecting a larger healthy plant as pictured, I spent $10 + shipping which was more than the plant itself. What I was sent was a half dead "plant" with 8 leaves stuck in overly wet dirt. I've since lost the plant as I was unable to save it and it died within 2 days. I will not be buying anymore from Hirts, I can't believe it was even sent out from their nursery. I'm now left with an overpriced dead plant.

Wish I can give them zero stars! Shipping was fast but the packaging was terrible. Most of my plants were damaged. I had send them a message about how I got almost dying plant and they never responded back to me. I gave them a review along with positive reviews on few of the stuff, they only posted the good reviews and not the unhappy one. I found out my plants were also infested with mealy bugs too. I would never use them again and not ever recommend them also.

I recently ordered two plants from hirts garden. A peperomia prostrata (string of turtles) and a ceropegia linearis woodii (string of DAGGERS). The string of daggers is a close cousin of the string of hearts plant which I'm familiar with as I have 3 large plants of the HEARTS variety and one DAGGER variety that I have been growing for a while now (not from Alan Hirts but from actual honest sellers). For starters, these plants are EXPENSIVE for tiny 2" pots. So my expectations are that they are gonna be good investments. Fast forward to receiving the goods. Instead of what I ordered (string of TURTLES & string of DAGGERS), this guy sends me 2 string of HEARTS. After several back and forth emails with photos, he finally Sends a partial refund for string of turtles but only because he says "What a joke.............String of Daggers is the same genus and species as String of Hearts." Alan you are a joke and a scam artist at best. Don't buy from this guy. There are a lot of sellers who are honest and customer service oriented and will work with you. I've been buying plants online for a couple of years now and have had good luck with many online sellers including Etsy shops. I've never had quite an experience as I've had with Alan hirts. You should google his shop reviews too, they are eye opening...wish I had seen sooner before my purchase as mid-shipments of plants are a regular occurrence. If you do decide to take a chance with Alan hirts, don't buy direct from his website. Take your risk through his Etsy or eBay shop because if you do (and you will) run into a problem with this guy, you can dispute it at least without dealing with his shadiness directly. Good luck to whomever decides to try your luck with hirts garden. Didn't say I didn't warn you

I order two plants of monstera and they arrived unhealthy. When checking the roots, they sent me dead cuttings instead of an actual healthy plants. Had I known I'm ordering cuttings, I would of never place them order. Spend about $70 of dead cuttings is a total scam. I emailed them and they refuse to resolve the problem. Horrible customer service.

Plants arrived in horrible condition. Two were clearly dead. I Paid nearly $70 for 6 plants. I planted them immediately. One plant was broken at the base and dead looking with no roots. The other plant didn't have any roots at all and the top looked dead. I planted them all anyway as the letter that came with the plants said they may go dormant after planting but may come up later. A month+ later, four of the plants are thriving and growing, but the two dead plants remained dead! I contacted Alan Hirt and showed him a picture of the box with the plants in horrible condition. He said he needed to see the plants. I showed him the picture again. he said he needed to see the plants now. I said they are dead, there is nothing but dirt and did he want me to send him a picture of the dirt where i planted them. no answer. days later i asked him if he was going to replace the plants. no answer. Today, i find out i was refunded the two plants. BUYER BEWARE. It's a 50/50 chance to get decent plants.

I purchased four separate plants from them as a third party through Walmart.com. One of the plants, the most expensive one a dwarf banana plant, was never sent to me but they marked it as sent via the website. I found that very shady! However, two of the three species of plants were received half dead (tansy's and a lemon grass) while the last (blue rue) looked absolutely perfect. This was not a weather or delivery issue, especially when seeing that one plant, the blue rue, in perfect condition. It lead me to believe it was what they choose to send out me. The plants were received in a week and it is not hot outside either. So, buyer beware. I know some people had better experiences than I did (I purchased from Hirt's based on the positive reviews I found). Hopefully if you decide to buy you will have a good experience. Regardless if you have a good experience or a bad one submit your review to help the next consumer make their choice or perhaps a business to better their practices!

I took a chance despite the horrible reviews and ordered several plants. I was so upset upon opening my package as every single plant was damaged. The plants were not packaged properly to say the least resulting in broken stems, spilled soil everywhere, ripped leaves etc. There were also plants that had several brown tips and chemical burns from over fertilizing. When I emailed customer service with pictures, they were unapologetic and did not provide a resolution.

I spent over $200 on plants with these bozos. What utter crap they sent. Not one plant is alive today, just a week since their arrival. Most were dead on arrival, the rest were half dead. And when I tried to get a refund, I got the runaround. Never EVER would I spend another nickel at this lousy place.

I've ordered several times from here and each time was really not a good experience. I don't know why I continued to order, but I won't again. The customer service is terrible. My orders showed up with items missing or damaged. I messaged and sent photos of my plants upon arrival and got excuses or brushed off. My most recent order I had emailed five times or more with plants that arrived in terrible. I finally got a message back stating "live plant sales online are final". Well, if you send me a dead plant and I email you immediately, good customer service would be to refund the plants. They have a decent selection but dealing with the service isn't worth it. I'd shop elsewhere if I were you.

I put purchased my plant off Hirt's website. I bought a Black and Gold Snake Superba Sansaveria. I've bought a couple things and always had excellent service. Quick shipping beautiful packaging. Beautiful plants. This time the plant arrived in rough shape. I sent a message to Alan Hurt. The message I received word for word, copy and pasted: trim off any damaged sections of the leaves with a pair of scissors. If I trimmed the damaged sections the plant would be severely pruned and the effect lost. As many people know, this plant grows slow. This particular plant's quality is below acceptable. After the email, I put a review on the Hirt's website. I checked later to see if my review was posted. I had to post the review on a 4 inch plant (same type). My 6 inch plant listing was no longer available. I did mention that information in my review I was writing for Hirt's website. Not only was it not posted but I could no longer find that product listing. I double checked if I had made an error. This is my next best chance to advise that the customer service in this instance was poor. I would have been a returned customer because I did believed in their company. Since this I will not be a repeat customer and it is astonishing the Hirt's name has been in the business for over 100 years. Insult to injury. Two of the leaves have completely split.

I received 2 perennial potted plants close to death. I could probably save them but they are poor and need to me medically resuscitated. I also got some lily and dahlia bulbs in bags. The lily's were average but the dahlias where horrible. Dahlias were lowest quality item of plant type I've ever seen. I sent an email explaining my concern over plant quality and told to send pictures. I sent pictures and in less than a cordial response was told that Holland grower said they are fine. They are not fine at all. I'm writing the review mostly because my concerns were dismissed and the owner makes it clear they intend to do nothing to resolve this or any issue and show a lack of customer service decency. I know plants. These are not plant people, just scam artists selling other peoples stuff at less than optimal quality.

I ordered a smoke bush July 2019. It came the beginning of August bent over due to poor packaging! I sent an email telling them about their poor packaging and told them I was going to plant it anyway. It barely survived the summer. Was still bent over and lost half its leaves by fall. I sent an email explaining what happened along with photos. I was told by Matt (presumably the owner?) that it might not survive in October. He told me to let him know if it didn't survive. So in May 2020, I emailed him and told him it did not survive. His response "Sorry for the confusion. It is posted on our web site that we have a 90 day policy. when you contacted us, you have 90 days to let us know if the plant does not survive. Sorry, but at this time your plant is out of policy. WHAT THE HELL? I told him within 90 days that it probably wouldn't survive and HE IS THE ONE who told me to wait. He doesn't even know his store's own policy, something he could have told me in October? STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I guess they don't care about their customers at all!

I received the order of two cream Veranda Rose and English Lavender plants timely. They were packed well and healthy however the plants seem smaller than described; they were much smaller than what I can buy from my Home Depot for similar prices. I would not order from this online garden site again.
