At this point, I requested to speak to a supervisor. He told me that it would do no good to talk to anyone else. I persisted in my request for a supervisor and was placed on hold for about 15 minutes until finally a female supervisor was brought into the call. She stated the exact same line....no one would be available until April 10th and the issue was not serious enough to call someone else. I asked simply if that was her final answer and she said yes. I stated "then I won't waste any more of your time" and I hung up.
At that point I contacted an outside plumbing contractor who came to my home within 3 hours and had to use a rooting machine to clear the drain. He found a substance that he said appeared to be grout. Invitation Homes had used a contractor to redo a bathroom and they had poured grout in the drain! I was billed $ 200 for the service call but the plumber that I called.
That same day I contacted the Invitation Homes office to cancel my PointCentral service. (I had tried to call PointCentral but was directed to Invitation Homes). While requesting the cancellation I mentioned to their representative about my plumbing issue and my dissatisfaction with their "maintenance" department. I told her that I was hopeful that since I followed their guidelines to contact maintenance first, that I would be reimbursed for the service call. Especially since the clog was caused by either the maintenance department or their contractor. She told me that I was not allowed to hire a plumber (despite what maintenance had told me earlier) and she arranged for an unnecessary second visit by a different plumber two days later. Remember that maintenance had refused to call a plumber AT ALL....and she called one the same day.
Invitation Homes has refused to reimburse the $ 200 and have told me that they feel that they are making an ethical decision.
DO NOT SIGN A LEASE WITH THESE PEOPLE!
Their actions have caused great pain, suffering and financial hardships.
One final thought. I do wish we had the option to upgrade some items in the house and take a rent credit or something similar. If this is at all an option, please message me. I would of course use licensed contractors who are insured.
I have a pool. They now charge me a non-optional fee of $100 per month for pool maintenance and I had to agree not to do any pool maintenance myself. I am still allowed to clean it but when the algae gets bad there is nothing I am allowed to do but suffer with my dirty pool. I have had a broken pool sweeper for several years. It was put in by a pool tech that later tried to break into my house, which they of course did everything they could to deny but I had the guy on camera. Instead of replacing the bad pool sweeper, they seem to have decided that it is cheaper just to take it away and not provide one. Considering they don't even pay the pool service company what they charge me they are just ripping me off. To add insult to injury they cut back on servicing the pool in the winter, even though were I live it does not freeze and winter is when the pool gets the dirtiest. They still charge the same amount, obviously making a little extra profit by not paying for the service they charge the tenants for. There is no way to complain. They are impossible to reach and the maintenance number reaches a call center in another city. Those poor people are just there to make the tenants give up and shut up.
You will never get maintenance from this company unless your lease is up for renewal. That is the ONLY time they care about tenants. They will make you pay in an online portal, and you can't even pay early because they don't set it up to take payments until the day it is due. They would love to automatically debit my bank account, but I have had problems with other companies taking more money than they were owed using that system, so don't do it. It is all set up in their favor, they have no consideration for treating tenants with honesty or respect.
One more thing that irks me. They actually charge rent for my cat. They charge $35 a month for a cat, even though they have a special extra deposit and I have no carpet in the house. They are always trying to put some sort of illegal or dishonest clause in the lease renewals and I have to fight with them every year over something their lawyers have added to trap tenants. Last year they wanted me to acknowledge they had installed a "smart system" which they never installed. I would have been charged for that eventually if they had gotten me to sign it.
Avoid this company as if they were COVID-19. Just stay away from them.
They offered me to pay half now and the other half with next month rent, worsening the problem.
If this is truly the course of action they take we are going to fight and protest at every level we can and make sure this message reaches far and wide. We will be contacting our local representatives to elevate our concern and poor practices of Invitation Homes during this global emergency. This is not the time for fees and threats.

Then. Boy was I wrong. I am thoroughly disgusted with their lack of acknowledgement and communication. To the point the maintenance supervisor (the first good person I’ve dealt with) has left a message on March 16 to my property management team and I still never got a response. I’ve beyond had enough - I have never had so much undue stress caused just to try AND SPEAK TO SOMEONE. Utterly ridiculous. I want a phone call TODAY.
Follow up - Jim Staples has been the saving grace in my situation. MeLinda Soares has also reached out and we had a very good conversation. I am hoping for positive things here on out. Jim, MeLinda, Ramzi and Anthony Tritto have been nothing short of amazing.
