Dr Kam and his team carried out cataract surgery for my grandmother at the Nuffield Hospital on November 2019. Due to her being diagnosed as partially blind, she had been told on numerous hospital visits that removing the cataracts from her eyes would be too risky and would not make much difference to her sight. She had completely lost hope that her sight would ever improve. However Dr Kam and his team managed to achieve this. I have been seeing Mr Balaggan over the last two years He has removed my cataracts and performed a triple lens replacement. It was necessary for me to have a surgical procedure on my eye,( I am 73years old) this was the first time I have had an operation. I was very apprehensive about the procedure and the recovery procedure of Facedown posturing for 7 days 24 hrs per day.
Mr Balaggan gave me a very detailed briefing on the operation and the recovery procedure.he also recommended some most valuable Facedown equipment which was excellent for the task.

Following posterior vitreous detachment nine years ago I was left with significant floaters in my right eye. I lived with this condition believing nothing could be done to rectify it. It was only after a conversation with my brother earlier this year that I became aware there was a procedure which might help. It is called micro-incision vitrectomy surgery and following my brother's advice I went to see Mr Balaggan at the Nuffield Health Wolverhampton Hospital. He was so thorough and helpful in the way he explained exactly how the procedure would work and what post operative care I could expect. I had total confidence in him and the procedure he proposed.

Following the procedure and after the usual recovery period my right eye is now perfect, no more floaters and as a bonus Mr Balaggan also performed a capsulectomy for posterior capsular opacification in that eye.

Amazing result achieved thanks to an amazing man supported by an amazing team. If you are having trouble with floaters, cataracts and other such eye problems I can highly recommend Mr Balaggan and his team.

Having struggled for two years with a floater in my right eye the final straw was falling and breaking my knee in two places I had been losing my balance and confidence because my vision wasn’t good. Originally having private cataract surgery on both eyes ,although not at the same time, I came to know Mr Balaggan as a top rate ophthalmic surgeon.
Later a tear on the retina was successfully treated by Mr Balagganat Wolverhampton eye hospital.

Following a referral by my excellent opthamologist Ms Shelley Stubbs of Webb, Lucas and Stubbs in Stafford, Mr Balaggan and his team recently performed vitrectomies to eliminate long standing and very troublesome floaters in both eyes.

Whilst on holiday in vietnam in February I developed an eye problem,which was treated in a vietnamese hospital.
On my return to the uk I contacted an eye specialist, who diagnosed a detached retina.
I was referred to Mr kam Balaggan , who advised me, because the retina had been detached for about 3 weeks,It would be unlikely I would regain my reading sight in that eye.
3 months after the operation he is delighted with the results.,as I am .
The result has far exceeded his expectations.

I had Cataract surgery on both eyes with Mr Balaggan and found his explanations pre and post surgery very clear which made the surgery a lot less anxious for me as i knew what to expect. He definitely took the time to accurately measure my eyes as I had corrective lenses fitted and my eyesight now is 20/20 in each eye.

His advice and explanations of what I should expect all proved to be correct, i am so glad I went with the tri-focal lenses as the resulting vision is superb - I cannot remember ever having eyesight this good :)

I could not recommend the re-assurance, surgical skill and follow-up of vitreoretinal specialist surgeon, Mr. Kam Balaggan, more highly!
I recently (April 2019) entrusted my right eye to Mr. Balaggan, undergoing surgery (at private cost) to repair a Macular Hole. At the time of writing (only 3 weeks after the operation) my visual distortion has noticeably reduced and I can already see more clearly too, which is great news as Mr. Balaggan advised visual improvement will continue for up to a year!
I was experiencing distorted vision in my right eye in late-January 2019 and was also having trouble reading. I visited my local Optometrist and to my distress the scan showed I had developed a macular hole. My Optometrist referred me to North Staffs Hospital and I received a consultation date in June 2019, which was then delayed until July 2019! As this was a 5 months wait just to get a consultation and, reading the internet an operation is recommended within 6 months for the best visual outcome, I returned to the Optometrist for advice. Fortunately, he knew just the person - Mr. Balaggan - an expert in vitreoretinal surgery with many years’ experience at Moorfields Eye Hospital and a specialist in Macular Hole surgery. I contacted Mr. Balaggan in mid-March 2019 and was seen within days. He confirmed I did indeed have a Macular Hole and recommended that he should monitor my eye for a few weeks to assess whether my eye might repair itself, which although unlikely was a possibility. Showing no improvement surgery was undertaken in mid-April. Early days yet but with a noticeable improvement already I am very hopeful of a significant improvement in my sight in the months to come.
If you have a serious / complicated retinal problem that requires urgent medical attention don’t wait and take a chance with your eyesight! I recommend you contact Mr. Balaggan for a second opinion and advice.
