Everything was excellent except for the mechanical problems we had with the upper hand throttle we had on two occasions which caused us to loose about a day's travel.

I would like to qualify this - the service from the South African branch was outstanding.
The service from the office at Trebes was also excellent. However, our gas bottles were not filled leaving us stranded at 9.30pm on our fourth night half way through cooking a meal. This resulted in us having to eat dinner at the one and only restaurant in Paradza at a cost of Euro 200 for the 2 families. The Homps guys were amazing and ensured that the bottles were replaced early the next morning. When I discussed this with the agent at Narbonne, he agreed to take euro 100 off our diesel bill. I, however, remain uncertain whether he actually did deduct the money or pretended to deduct the money. Our engine time seemed rather excessive.

We had a start at Narbonne as spent the first night at base camp due to anticipated bad winds. Thanks Marion for all your assistance.
We set off the following morning and at a certain stage , the river was closed to all traffic, something to do with the one canal being closed off for cleaning . We were warned about this closure , but the gate was closed some 3 hours before the time perhaps due to flooding from the previous nights rain. 3 Boats were totally blocked off and despite calls to base camp and the call centre, we were told to "press a red button " and we could then proceed. Not great customer services, why a technician was not despatched to access our situation immediately, basically Nabronne would not agree with our "on site assessment of the situation"
Eventually after about 2 hours of reporting back to base camp, were we told to return to Narbonne , this put us under pressure with gate locks...but we all made it back.
The boat that I had a Horizon 2 had some problem with the steering, making navigation on the river extremely difficult.
Next morning and compliments to Narbonne we were sent to various new destinations and our journey started albeit effectvly two days later. our new boat was exactly the same but the steering was just so different and made my journey relaxing. I would certainly suggest the Horizon series and especially and boat with side thrusters to help through locks and bridges.
The boat had everything we needed and despite the very unusual extremely cold weather , we enjoyed out adventure from Castelnaudary (fabulous staff), stopping at Carcassonne (well worth the stop and seeing the Castle) and into Trebes (The la Boat staff could be trained here in customer service - we arrived with a problem bike and gosh don't go there 5 minutes into lunch hour as you have to wait until lunch finished.....) we finished in Homps , where we experienced probably the best staff along the route,
Despite the weather we had a fabulous holiday, very relaxing and as I say the Horizon series is stunning.
We decided to only stop and sleep along the canals and only enter the bases when we needed water and stock up on supplies.

The river lot schedule is such that one cannot fully make use of all the markets available on different days, we needed to stay over 1 extra day in cahors to be able to get to at least the one market in Cahors on Saturday.

Mooring only in the towns - a slight problem due to vehicles and trains noises, if mooring can be anywhere such as in canals, one can stop over at very quite locations.

Staff very professional and friendly.
The River LOT location, towns and environment -- excellent

Le Boat's service was very good but they may like to think about meeting one at the station and transporting one to the boat? It is difficult to get a taxi and we had two older people who would have preferred to not have to walk the distance pulling a suitcase . The boat itself was very comfortable (Consul and Crusader).

The introduction and instructions on the first day was done in french. We felt that we really did not know anything when we left Decize.
At Chatillon the service was great, friendly and helpfull.

Excellent service from the staff at Hindeloopen, especially Masjah and Jan Barker. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and supportive. The boat was in a good condition and everything was in working order.

Regretably the boat we had was not in good condition, a lot of small issues, and one big issue with the steering that resulted in us loosing 2 days of cruising

We had a great reception by Bob, the Manager of Le Boat, Port Cassafieres. The boat was ready and clean and a very good handover and explanation of how the boat operate and we felt very confidant and comfortable with the boat.
We also had great service form the technical team when we lost part of the black bumper rubber in a lock and was replaced on arrival at the next town. The boat was operating perfectly and we had no issues or concerns during the trip. Also the day of handing the boat back, the staff at Homps was, friendly, helpful and efficient and on time to check us out.

Firstly, this is the fourth time we have barged in France. Le Boat never told us, nor was it mentioned on their website, that the locks on the Lot River are not automatic. We hired 2 bicycles for 4 people but were not given the key needed to adjust the seats of the bicycles - which did not suit any of us! Thus we could only use the bicycles on one occasion when the folk in the barge next to us had a key to adjust the seats.

I can recommend a Le Boat holiday any day. The service was excellent. The staff was professional and went out of their way to assist and accommodate all our needs.

We booked a week long holiday for 6 people in one large boat and worked our route out according to their Le Boat app.
On our arrival we were given a broken bow thruster and with the size of the boat we also were not allowed to go into 80% of the canals. Their depot or the app did not tell us that.
You cannot navigate with a 14.2m boat without a bow thruster, yet they still insisted we take the boat. We refused, and that was soooo frustrating to see them disrespect their guests.
We lost a day of our travels while they swopped out our boat and we could not do the routes that they recommended due to the size of the boat.
It was not a enjoyable trip for us and we were all very disappointed.
When we were back in South Africa I started the complaints process and they eventually, after MANY moans and unhappiness, paid us back a small portion.
I would surely not recommend a trip like this for a large group and seriously suggest that they up their Vinkeveen depot treatment of customers.

We had to call the technicians twice during our 7 day trip. The first time for no running water due to faulty wiring. The second time again faulty electrical wiring, which left us stranded for more than 24 hours. Due to this, the engine could not run and we did not have hot water.
One day we had a rain shower and it rain into the boat onto the bed in bedroom.
The toilet is leaking and the floor is wet most of the time.

We usually go barging during June or early July - or once in early September, so a cruise in April was new for us. We were relatively lucky with the weather and enjoyed a great cruise from Port Cassafieres to Homps. The new Horizon 4 barge was great and well appointed, even if a bit cramped because of all the features available. All in all we greatly enjoyed our cruise even though early in the season.

The boat was not well prepared--some of the cupboards had brackets missing,the blind in one of the rooms kept falling off, we could not get the gas braai to work,the bushes on one of the thrusters had to be replaced a day or two after we left P/C.These are small things but the boat should be in PERFECT condition when you hand it over--we did not mind scratches dents and bumps-but these are basic things especially if you compare thepristine condition our Clipper boat was in when we did the canal the first time in 2016.

Everything was great except for 2items
1. I paid for 4 bicycles and there was only 2 on board. We received a third one the next morning after we requested it. (I trade one bicycle in for free WiFi). One of the three cycles was broken and had to be repaired. Please supply the clients with bicycles of a better quality.
2. We could not find a parking space in Le Somail and had to park at the first lock with no electrical supply. Out in the dark - had to travel with cycles for about 3 Kms or more to the nearest town. Could Le Boat please ensure a parking spot at a specific town for a specific boat.

Your representative at St Jean was marvellous, however, after paying for an early collection and travelling down one day early, we were very disappointed that our boat was not ready and caused a delay in our departure. The interior of the boat was dusty, down the side of the gas grill had not been cleaned, something quite fowl along the tread of the sliding door (smelly), a continual smell emanating from under the fridge, toilet bowl leaked continuously onto the floor which had to be washed after each use (obviously an ongoing problem), our bikes were locked together with two locks and only one key (call out to solve)

Good Day
1)We booked an early departure via your South African Office - was not arranged with Vinkerveen - however, the consultant at Vinkerveen was extremely helpful and sorted all for us.2) We had a blocked toilet the 2nd day and your support person to be contacted was rude and very unhelpful - we had to deal with the problem ourselves and used one of the pump-out stations to unblock the toilet.

Sercice at the Hesse base reception was excellent, however the boat engine cooling system had not been checked, and we broke down three times within 3km of Hesse, before finally Pierre, the head engineer came to fix a simple problem that the previous engineer failed to. This cost us a full day in downtime, as we only managed to get to Niederville that evening. Not impressed!
