The employees who were hired to photograph, describe and list the items for auction were in no way equipped to fulfill this role. The descriptions were extremely poor. Many precious antiques and other items were not described appropriately or even adequately. The auction was held for my parents, who are aged. I am disgusted that they were taken advantage of in this way. They failed in every way to assist in properly assist my parents with the auction. You should be ashamed to have people so ill equipped to represent your company. I would never, ever recommend this service to anyone.

My experience with MAXSOLD was not a good one. A few weeks ago we had MAXSOLD run the auction online. After watching what was happening it was heart-wrenching. Watching bids come in at $1.00 on furniture and electronics. MAXSOLD was the only one who made out on the auction. A $700.00 fee for the Auction, plus they receive 30% more of the total sale of your items, plus they get 15% from buyers. We were told that each bin should receive at least $35.00 or more. Well, I can tell you that did not happen. The purpose of us trying this auction was because we are moving and our furniture especially was not going and we really did not want to do a yard sale.
A Lazyboy rocker recliner sold for $1.00. Our solid wood dining room table with leaf and 8 chairs would have sold for $6.00 only the person was a no show. It was sickening to see what was sold at prices that were really not fair to the customer. There should have been a minimum of at least $100 on all furniture items, not $1.00. Electronics that were never used, sold for a few dollars. Really a sin. $1300 sold, less their fee($700, less their 30%) received only $244. Was this FAIR, NOT AT ALL.
So because of this BIG MISTAKE, a yard sale was done and we made over $1200.00 in our pocket. If I had not done the Auction and had all my items I probably would have made over $2500.00.
MAXSOLD did not make my life easier but I certainly learned my lesson, CUSTOMER beware of MAXSOLD.

Unfortunately my experience with maxsold has been significantly different than what others have described. I have found that the individuals running the auction have at times, randomly pulled items from the auction a mere few hours before it closes. Why? Likely because they discover that the item is worth more than what it will be auctioned for or simply because they themselves want to keep the item. It goes without saying that this is a highly unethical way to run a business/estate sale. How can we, as buyers, plan accordingly for an auction if we are subject to the whims of the individuals running the auction? When speaking to the customer service representative, she informed me that this is in fact a "breach of their contract," but failed to go into the details of what exactly that meant. Instead of attempting to reach out to the specific individuals running that auction, I was merely told "sorry." I would implore anyone reading this review to look elsewhere when evaluating an auction house to do business with. There are lots of very well managed companies out there that wouldn't think of doing such a thing. Do items get accidentally broken and need to be pulled from the auction? Absolutely. But when it is multiple lots of similar items getting pulled at once it raises concerns about the ethics of the people running the auction/estate sale. I, for one, will do business elsewhere.

After bidders came to pick up their lots, one of their employees who managed the event told me she, Claire (with an Irish brogue) and Tammy could help sell on private consignment, my deceased brother's 43 watches and other related items which Claire said MaxSold wouldn't sell due to their small size. She sent me an email listing all of the items and her (Claire's) fees for replacing watch batteries, prep for selling the items on EBay, Mercado, etc., and mailing/shipping costs. A list of when EBay would reimburse her account was also included. Needless to say, she was never heard from again even though I sent two emails and left two voicemails for her without any response. When I contacted MaxSold they said she wasn't supposed to do that and they would speak to her. I haven't heard anything since and am filing a claim in small claims court. This is the last thing I needed during this grief period. I agree with Mel F that this is not a good deal for sellers.

We bid on a nice wood dining table and 8 chairs and won with a $140 bid. When we went to pick up the item we were about 1/2 hour late. The seller refused to let us take the table citing we were not in time for the pick up window. We called MaxSold and they told us the rules is that if you are not there to pick up your item on time you forfeit it and do not get a refund. However, they went on to say that if the seller agrees to let us have the item it would be OK. So now we go back to the seller and he informed us that he would not release the table and chairs. He said that it was worth $10,000 and he was not letting it go for $140. I agree the table was worth far more than $140; but get real; $10,000??????? Now the review is not negative against MaxSold because they have posted the terms an rules and they were willing to bend in this instance. It was the seller that was very greedy and heartless. So all this above is to say, be on time to pick up your item and read all the rules and terms with MaxSold

Maxsold has made estate sale shopping so easy! I can view items from home and decide if I want to bid - no more trudging from place to place to see if there's anything worthwhile or in my budget. I found the item descriptions accurate, and the many pictures of each item verrrrrry helpful. I've been to 2 pick up for auctions I've won, and both times I was so impressed with the staff. Folks were nice, helpful and friendly. I love to refinish furniture, so I'll absolutely be back!

Don't walk, RUN away from this company!! No consideration for the seller. Ridiculously low bids accepted. Give your stuff to charity before going with them. Super high cost to the seller PLUS a percentage of the 'sales'.... Disgusting, parasitic scavengers enabling bottom-feeding 'buyers'. STAY AWAY

Maxsold contacted me after my review. They apologized for my experience and explained that its service is designed to quickly get rid of contents for people who have to get rid of their things or move, re-locate etc. It is not necessarily designed to make money, just to help with removing alot of stuff fast. Had I known that, I would not have used them for my auction. I wish this was better explained on their site and in their materials explaining their auction service. I do appreciated their contacting me about it. Thanks

This was my first time selling with Maxsold and I was apprehensive, but they were very helpful and I only had to do the simple things, like taking photos, doing a quick description and meeting the high bidders when they picked up. It was time consuming, but I expected that. The items I sold were good but I had no need for them and I wanted to downsize so that my children would not have to worry about dispositions if something should happen to me. I was happy with whatever was bid - some low prices, but also some surprisingly high prices. I accomplished what was needed - more space in my house and closets and cabinets. I will do it again at some point in the future if I can.

I have no complaints about the professionalism and courtesy of your staff: assigning and photographing lots and handling the pickup schedule. However, several customers told me they were still engaged in bidding for the most valuable items in the auction and that they were cut off in process and very upset. I am extremely distressed that you stopped the bidding and did not afford me the opportunity to receive a better price for these items. On another note I wish there had been a better tutorial on how to modify//split lots. For example there were cases such as where several nice silverplate pieces were included with assorted trays and the picture did not make the silver items clear. I didn't comprehend that I could have split the items into two lots. Another lot of primarily silver was highly sought after and had many bids so I most likely would have realized a better price separating out the silver items. Most of my changes to the texts were handled well, but in some cases you did not correct spelling or add other useful explanatory descriptions.

maxsold is a wonderful, low traffic, online local auction you can find plenty of cool things for cheap. i do wish they had shipping/delivery services, or at least hire sime muscle to help put things in my car because i'm a small personbut i suppose you can use lugg for that (use my referral code L667829 for $10 off). overall it's fantastic! for example, i attached a photo of a sweet lamp and a desk i got for a good deal :)

While we did accomplish getting items sold, we would have done better, to have done it ourselves or donated to charity and received a receipt for the donation. Staff on site was okay - photographs were subpar at best, definitions (I believe) were part of the reason items either didn't sell or were so underbid. Items were taken that were marked not for sale, supervision of the buyers by some allowed items not bid on to be taken. I approached the day of the sale that one item should not have been sold, for personal reasons - they did NOTHING to help me retrieve the small (family) heirloom. They knew who bought it. They could have made a small quick call and all would have been resolved - but they did nothing to assist. Use them if you have to but be aware items will go but maybe not at the value they deserve.

I placed 6 items to be auctioned. 4 were sold, one was not picked up. And a table, the bidder came over and was just wasting my time that the item was not new!. I think that the MaxSold software should have offered these 2 items to the next bidder in line. I tried to write an "Unhappy" review when prompted for a review, but they appear to only accept the "Happy" type reviews. I also complained to the service rep., I was promised that they will offer the items to the next bidder manually, but they never delivered on their promise. I think that the concept is good but the software is too simplistic

I HAVE PURCHASED MANY TIMES FROM MAXSOLD AND HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY BUT RECENTLY I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OF THEIR DISTRIBUTIONS (CARLISLE, MA) ARE NOT ACCURATE AND IF YOU CALL THEM ON IT THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND IT. MANY OF THESE ITEMS ARE BEING SOLD BY RESELLERS. I ALSO PURCHASED A BACCARAT DECANTER AND FOUND 6 CHUNKS BROKEN OFF AND THEY DID NOT MENTION IT WAS DAMAGED. WITH THE VIRUS THEY ARE WRAPPING EVERYTHING SO YOU CAN NOT CHECK IT AT PICKUP, THEN THEY DENIED MY REFUND CLAIM. I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING AGAIN.

We are re-sellers and after several years and over $30,000 purchased via Maxsold we have filed for divorce over several incidence with the last 2 auctions with one giving wrong location and address (33 miles) resulting in over $ 300 wasted day and $250.00 for the purchased lot not received and the other not having several items as paid for for another $250.00. We're done here not because of the strict policies but because of the very poor support and communication.

It is a way to have your possessions plundered for next to nothing. My husband and I found the results very disappointing. With $1.00 minimum bids it is unbelievable that incremental bids for under $1.00 were allowed. The $700 set up fee was excessive since we had to do the grouping ourselves, which was a lot of work. On the positive side, MaxSold employees were extremely nice.

I overpaid and got shafted with everything I bought from this guy (Mike New Jersey based Max Sold) He puts high value on junk..I spent a couple of hundred dollars and was thourghly coned. Skip them altogether..if you call or see or speak to a very fat guy who's name is Mike that is a King Con Artist.He skims all the good stuff and sells the low value at high prices.

Check your items at pickup, and do not remove items from site or you will be docked for a refund. Duct tape mattresses, pool table fabric ripped, metal lounger with broken wrung-none of it photographed while you bid. Save your time, money, and gas. Poor management and crappy customer service. Many items are inadequately marked and do not show the faults, as happened to us on at least 4 auctions we bid on. A waste of time and money. And, it ask for credibility but will not let my photos post. Go figure...

I do not recommend collaborating with them because it is the second time that it happens to me to find big lies in the description of the online auction product and reality (last time they said that the vase has a height of 48 inches but in reality it was only aprox. half). I've bought several items from Maxsold. Mostly glassware. And that's the problem. They do not go into any detail about the condition of the glass. Recently I bought a Lot of glass, they described on piece with a chip on the base. But never disclosed the other items that had multiple chips! Count on throwing out about a one third too one fourth of the glassware. lt very frustrating. The glassware i bought was from a recent Cambridge Mass. Sale, that ended a week ago today. i won't be buying anything Glass Related again. Someone should tell them MORE DETAILS PLEASE.
