Opened an account with ME Bank in early December 2019. Went on holiday over Christmas and New Year and got back to a letter that the account had been closed, please see the terms and conditions of the account as to why. No real explanation, tried to call them multiple times, was on the phone and mostly on hold for 20+ minutes each time. I like what this bank stands for hence I tried to open another account and they rejected my application. Again no real explanation. Unless I broke a T&C which I can't think of what I could have done, then the banks own T&C's say: We may close your account without reason by
giving you seven days prior written notice.

I never got seven days prior written notice, instead the letter was dated 2nd January and which is the same day that the account was closed. I know at this point I'm not likely to get an answer from ME Bank as to why they rejected me for a simple everyday bank account, but I would like to know why as it may affect my ability to apply for financial products in the future and I'd like to avoid that.

Was a customer of ME for 12 years, I agree with all these negative reviews 100%. Existing customers pay more and get less. Terrible communication and service, banking always down, antiquated tech. They never call you back, can’t ever get through. Wait up to a month for anything to be actioned. The longer you’re with them the less value you have. I can tell you I asked them only early April if there was any way they could take our redraw, and told, nope it’s 100% safe and will always be accessible, “it’s a great place to park any savings”. Now so many have lost access to years worth of extra repayments! If you’re thinking of ME I only have one word for you DON’T.

Long term customer 20 yrs..same problem as other recent posts..money ripped out of re-draw facility without warning.. not because anything is wrong..just in case it goes wrong..trying to help daughter and son-in-law with a new baby ..shortage of work in this time of virus..then have the hide to say "we are here for you during Covid-19..no discussion..dont pass on rate cuts..inflexible and couldn't care.

Have had accounts with ME bank in the past and only decided to swich and move away from them due to lack of branches , went with one of the big 4 banks which i wish i had of reconsidered as i dont feel i have been provided the same level of customer service and care that i had with ME bank.

ME banks had always provided nothing but great customer service to me everytime i had to call with any issues, i am now in the process of switching all of my banking back over to ME.

8 days after submitting forms for term deposit, still no action from ME-bank because they are "busy". If you take this delay into account, their rates are suddenly a lot lower.....

Very happy to switch to a flexible savings account that earns me a high interest rate of 2.05% compared to 0.10% my current account was giving. Really like the app to check my balance etc too

I banked with them for years and this week they took funds from peoples home loan redraw facility without any notification. Their response to the issue was if you want the money back on your redraw you have to refinance your home loan. They lack integrity and cannot be trusted.

On the 11/11 I my term deposit matured and I had instructed them to deposit the total back into my account. Even though I had provided my TFN they still deducted tax. I have sent five emails asking them when the money will be in my account and I ave had five replies say how sorry there are and the funds will be in my account with-in 5 days. Each email is the same script but different CS name. Shameful service. Never again

We have been with ME Bank for over 20 years. Over the recent years, when we've asked them the best rate they can offer, it has always been higher than what is advertised. The final nail in the coffin is logging on to our homeloan account this morning and noting several thousand of dollars have been withrdrawn from the credit in our mortgage offset account with only 'Adjustment'. No detail has been provided. No prior indication or warning that this was going to happen was given. When we contacted the bank and after waiting a very long time, the customer service officer said that we had to wait for a letter that was being drafted and would be mailed out 'soon'. A check on their FB page shows that we are not the only ones, there are people that have had tens of thousands of dollars taken as an 'adjustment' without any explanation or prior warning also. We have taken this to the Australian Financial Complaints Association as they were concerned of this behaviour. Don't be fooled by what seems like a good deal - like most marketing scams, they seem too good to be true until you sign up. I think the issue with ME Bank (and quite possibly other banks) is that loyalty and longevity is no longer valued. They offer incentives to join them, but very little to those who have stayed with them and supported them over the years. Would not recommend them.

I wrote to them telling my father had passed away and asked them what is the process to access his term deposit. After a week they wrote back addressed to HIM and asking him to call them. They obviously either didn’t read my email or didn’t care.

ME bank did not call back for two weeks to discuss quotes or provide pay out figure. Subsequent calls were delayed with related customer service agents not helpful. Call back never happened.

At first I was very thrilled to have no annual fee and low rate credit card which is good for some people that does not want to pay for annual fee but the very disappointing part is after you made a purchase, the transaction on the mobile app doesn't appear and it would take 3-4 days before you can see it. It is bad for ME Bank Frank Credit card holders as it is important for most people to keep on track and what transactions you've made as you may forget or if there is suspicious transactions already made by bad people these days. I wish I did not cancel my ANZ low rate credit card. At least with other banks, they show the credit card transactions you've made regardless if it's still pending. Also, when you made a BPAY payment it takes 3-4 days before you can see the payment was received by ME Bank on the mobile app. Me Bank is still very slow and if they wanna compete with big banks and invite good customers then they should really make an effort to start doing some improvement for the best. ME Bank please improve this because it is part of the customer service and it would help the review rating to go up.

ME Bank has a lot of competitive products and this is one of them, especially if you're with one of the industry super funds who own the bank. The 0.25 per cent bonus turns this from being competitive to near the top of the pile.
Competitive interest rates in a fast changing market, while the account is linked to your internet banking (if you're with ME Bank) so you can always "see" your money when logging on to do your other banking. And if you're with an industry super fund, you now get an extra 0.25 per cent on top of the headline interest rate.

I have only been with ME Bank since 2018. I used my ME online savings account to save for holidays etc. In February after my husband lost his job he retired and we cashed in his super. Our local bank was only offering pitiful savings incentives so we moved everything to ME as we were guaranteed to earn 1.80% on these savings. But when I read of the freeze on home loan redraw facilities we became uneasy. Nobody can afford to lose their savings and this is why we decided to move them back to our local bank for better security. My husband was always uneasy that ME Bank didn’t have an actual branch in our city and this pandemic has certainly caused additional uncertainty. With the Government giving money away it devalues our currency... you can’t be too careful!

From great working arrangements set up in Dec15 ME have now closed ALL Branch offices and "become a fully Digital Bank" BUT unlike the big 4 they do not have the information systems to support it. With Term Deposits you can't easily make changes to reinvestment instructions online- only through secure email inside the online acount and hope that instructions are followed. Gives no confidence due to the previous number of errors needing correction at the Branch Office last year despite correct paperwork submitted. You constantly get service unavailable notices when you search for historical information such as interest last FY. The contact centre claims that all of the business transacted at a Branch can be done on the phone but 3examples of 20 mins & 10 mins(gave up) and 35 mins to finally speak with a human 3days later is NOT viable service. I'm getting out fast and so is my family members and about $480k in about 7 accounts. Let's see how hard it gets to take the $$$$ out. NOT HAPPY CHAPPIE. To be fair once you get through. .. very helpful staff.

This account when it was first conceived was an excellent product, low fees, reasonable interest rates but over the last few years has become more expensive to keep. The bank only has one ATM in South Australia although you can use other bank's ATMs ME charge you $1 per ATM transaction better off with an everyday transaction acc. and an online savings.
Used to be a good cheap account to run
Now charge for every ATM use, there are cheaper alternatives around ME keep changing term and conditions

Their customer service is first class they have always resolved any issues i have had first call or within a few days which compared to another banking institution in my experience is much much more efficient. They have modern and 'relatable' sometimes quirky advertising and their approach feels more personal which i like.
I am extremely happy with these guys to date! 5 stars!

In close to fifteen years banking with them I have always found ME Bank to be excellent. When I was buying a home and other banks were willing to lend me a crazy amount of money, they were much more ethical and suggested a sensible and prudent amount. Despite their recent stuff-up I am very happy with them. Much better than other banks whose nefarious practices were revealed in the Royal Commission.

I've been with me bank for 20 years. They used to deliver a great service. However, recently, the bank isn't what it used to be. I too had $20k frozen from my account without notification or warning. Am absolutely dissatisfied and appalled with this. I am in the process of finding a better bank with lower interest rates and better customer service. Take you hard earned money and trust elsewhere. I too will be lodging a complaint. Not good enough me.

I have been with Me Bank for about 3 years. I found the customer service fairly good, responsive and helpful and no long delay to talk to someone. Saving interest rate is among the top 3 in the market and I am happy with that. Things that I am not too happy is the app is slow and quite basic, there is no NPP fast payment, apple/android pay, and when you send payment to someone I cannot enter meaningful description and receiver only read some meaningless letters/numbers which is quite annoying. Me bank has to be responsive to the modern banking or they would be left behind. I am not sure why they are so behind in this area. I hope Me bank management listen to this cause I am so close to give them 5 star.
