I ordered two lenses and a battery pack for a 5 year old canon powershot g9 from NWV. After I placed my order I googled the company and came across this site and a few ohrrs that were not complimentary of NWV, to say the least. After reading everything, I started to get nervous about what the coming days were going to bring concrrning my transaction with them. I recieved the expected form email from them "we tried to reach you....please call us about your order" etc at 10 AM this morning, then they called and left a voicemail at 11 am (from some guy named mark). I called them back and got Mark's voicemail, and left a message along the lines of I'd heard that they were prone to backorders with a lot of items, and that I only wanted exactly what I ordered, and if I couldn't get it now or within a week, then they could cancel my order. A few hours go by and I call back after not hearing from them. I call mark's extension, and someone looks up my order and says it's on indefinite backorder and that the order had been cancelled. He was perfectly polite, and I had no issue with his phone manners. I will keep checking my credit card activity to make sure no strange charges show up, as one reviewer suggested

I am giving them two stars because everything I ordered wasn't in stock and is listed on their website. This is a major problem: you shouldn"t be able to pay for something when they obviously don't have it and probably never will again. I do believe that it is just a method to lure people into a high pressure sales situation. who knows, maybe they do have items that are advertized and actually in stock. I am going to continue my search for lenses elsewhere, probably KEH and Adorama. Try NWV if you must, but don't expect much. I don't think they actively tried to rip me off, but I also wasn't buying anything but a canon lens and would not accept a substitute.

I puchased the Canon Filter Adapter FA-DC58B at a very reasonable price from News World Video Direct. It was new as sold, and was promptly delivered. Service was excellent.

We recently bought a camcorder battery charger, as I had misplaced the one we had. We found a great price and it came very quickly. It is a generic one, and works great with our Canon. We would definitely order from them again!

I ordered a Nikon sb-400 from this website because it was the cheapest out there, I didn't hear from them for three days and then I call they tell me they will ship it in two days. two hours later a nice lady calls explaining that this is out of stock and I should get a vivtar flash, I just cancelled my order. The only problem is that why do you not say that the flash is out of stock before I buy it! If I knew that I would have ordered from somewhere else!

I ordered a two SanDisk 32GB Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I Memory Card. I received an email asking me to call them. I was told the product was "backordered." The representative then tried to sell an inferior "Vivatar" card which he claims was "just as good" for the same price. This seems to be the classic bait and switch con. I cancelled my order and will take my future business elsewhere.

I accidentally ordered the wrong wide angle lense for my Sony camcorder. Charlie helped me find the correct lense to work best with this HD camcorder. It is rare these days to find someone that wants to make sure you taken care of.

Well i ordered a Nikon MC-DC2 remote two days ago. Since then I received the email stating there was a problem with my order. Please contact ## . I should have listened to the reviews. I would have thought it had already shipped. Can't wait to se how this turns out.

I spoke with the company rep today. I am pleased to say that he was very helpful. Evidently the company was concerned as my billing and shipping address are different. The item I requested is now being shipped as promised. Thank you

I ordered three 32 gb SD cards which were to arrive between April 1 and 4, 2011. On the last of those days I called to see where my order was. I got a call back from NWV saying they hadn't shipped because they were out of stock. (When I ordered they indicated they were in stock.) The then upsold me to faster cards for an added $10 or so each. If it wasn't bait and switch it was certainly sloppy. I wouldn't use them again.

I recently purchased a UV filter kit for my Panasonic Lumix FZ18 camera.

I am very pleased with the UV filter kit (with mounting ring) that I bought from NWV Direct. Everything fits and the quality of the filter is excellent. The mounting kit is a split ring, so you only use half of it when you are shooting wide angle shots. This avoids seeing the "sides of the tunnel" when both mounting rings are mounted together. (Caution, you do need to remember not to zoom the lens with the UV filter mounted this way, as the lens will push into the UV filter.) When shooting in telephoto mode, you attach both rings together and zoom in and out all you want.

The filter brand listed on the web site was a brand I never heard of. I actually got a Vivitar filter, which is a very good aftermarket brand. The rings are made by Bower specifically for Panasonic.

The filter came in its own plastic snap case with a little round pad to help keep the filter from rattling around in the case. I put a little loop of Scotch Tape on the pad to keep it from falling out of the case when I take out the filter.

The filter and mounting ring kit was a reasonable 35 and a half bucks after shipping.

I ordered a 1.7x lens by Sony. Then they said that it was not available and asked if they could ship a 2.2x lens, saying the 1.7x lens was outdated. I was very particular about a Sony lens and once I received it, when I asked to return it, there was a bit of confusion at first, but they do value their customers and allowed me to return the product. I liked how they took the time to reply to my e-mails, and they are interested in good customer relations.
In the future I would like to buy products from them, but I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't work out this time.

1st it was bait and switch... then the camera battery I bought wasnt the right size for my under water camera, which caused the door not to shut and thus allowed water to rush in and destroyed my camera. I called and got hung up on from the first rep and the 2nd one told me this company only has 5 people and that they would never help me pay for the camera they broke.. However later a rep from NWV called me back and refunded my money, he said he would contact the company that makes the battery and request I get a check from them to cover the cost of a new camera. I do appreciate this effort from NWV and would consider doing business with them again.

For several years I have had problems with the original 1100mAh Li-ion batteries (Canon Model BP-511) that came with my Canon Digital Rebel camera. They were expensive, had short battery life even when new and got worse over time. I found a replacement at NWV Direct which is a 1900mAh at at about half the price of the original Canon batteries, so I decided to order it and try it out. NWV Direct shipped immediately and these new batteries work great. I am very happy to have found NWV Direct. My experience is all positive.

On 11/29/2010 I ordered 2 name-brand (Canon) items from New World Video Direct. The following day I received an email stating there was a "problem with my order" and to contact them. I was told both items were on a "National Backorder" and would not be available for 6-8 weeks. The customer service rep of course immediately tried to sell me a generic substitute, but I declined since I was in no rush for the items. 8 weeks later (01/24/2011) when the items had not arrived I called and was told everything was still on backorder and would be another 3 weeks. 3 weeks later (02/14/2011) I called again only to be told it would be another 2 weeks. 2 weeks later (today, 03/07/2011) when I called yet again the rep wouldn't even give me an expected date for one of the items. I canceled the order and purchased the same products from Amazon for a few dollars more.

I am writing this review because an interesting review was posted for NWVDIRECT by avstar1k100 on 01/05/2011. In the review it is stated that the exact same 2 items I had ordered were purchased by this 'individual' and received immediately more than a month after I had placed my order and was told the items were not available (and still are not). Obviously, this posting was made by the company itself (or a marketing company acting on their behalf) to offset their many negative reviews with a bogus positive review. NWVDIRECT is nothing more than a 'bait and switch' organization advertizing name-brand items (that they probably never even carry) at a lower price than anywhere else and then tries to sell inferior generic items because they are 'out of stock' of the name-brand product(s). A quick review of the New York Better Business Bureau for New World Direct would certainly seem to substantiate this idea (http://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/business-reviews/electronic-equipment-and-supplies-dealers/new-world-video-direct-in-brooklyn-ny-85105/) where they have the lowest possible F rating.
