This is a long review, so I'll cut to the chase. If you think getting a PPP loan has to be an anxiety-provoking, nightmarish experience, you're not working with OnDeck.

Have an application that doesn't seem to move? Still can't speak to a knowledgeable human being? Or any human being? Don't waste another second. Instead, go to OnDeck.com immediately.

After being scarred by Chase and Kabbage, a friend suggested OnDeck. Throughout the entire process, Jose M. would alert me every time guidance shifted. Because I have 1099 employees, it shifted often. He'd ask us to upload a form, we'd do it, and he would let us know that he received it. He kept things moving - and kept us informed.

When I had questions, he returned every call and answered every email within an hour or so. That's right - a real loan specialist who answers phone calls and emails the same day.

I began the process with Chase. I've had my business and personal accounts with them for at least 7 years. The site crashed often. I could never upload more than one form - though they would ask for three. Every day, I spent HOURS on the phone trying to reach a human being. When I finally reached one, he couldn't answer the question, got aggravated, and hung up the phone.

I tried Kabbage, another online bank. I don't think actual human beings work there. I tried calling them at least 15 times and waited on hold for a good hour each time. At some point, I was told to leave a voicemail - with the assurance that I'd get a callback. Never happened.

At this point, my anxiety was through the roof. My advertising agency had doubled in size over the last 8 months. We'd won new business pitches with a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical company and with a well-known wellness company. In addition, we had major organic growth with two Fortune 100 clients. I'd staffed up, finally had the right team in place, and then...pandemic.

As I was pulling my hair out, a friend recommended OnDeck. I just went to their site to see how guidance had shifted. Halfway through the process, I stopped entering information and closed the tab. Jose called me 5 minutes later and asked why I didn't complete the form. He said he'd help me every step of the way - a promise he delivered on.

My SBA loan got approved today. I could not recommend OnDeck and Jose M. more highly.

This pandemic has been a scary and trying time for so many of us. As a self-employed individual, finding help re: PPP loans etc was a nightmare even with my own bank.
