Have been with Powershop over two houses, one with Solar and elec, and the second with elec and gas. Have had no issues whatsoever, and love their app and customer service.
Have had other power companies claim that companies like powershop "gouge" you unless you prepay. which isn't true. It's simple to see when you compare base rates!

Total confusion, every month I have to go through a complicated procedure to receive the pension discount, and each month I am told something different, When the account is received it takes a phone call with a lengthy wait to request that the discount be applied. unnecessarily complicated. i'm outta here next month.

Was great and easy to setup power for my new rental unit however noticed I was paying quite a bit - between $200 and $250 a month. I live alone in a small unit; no TV but do have washing machine, oven cooktop, small bar fridge and average lighting. The only thing I could think of to account for this pricing is an oil heater I used during the winter months but when asked Customer Service about this recently (late Spring) I was advised to wait until my next Meter reading.. Cannot fathom what has caused such a high price for power in my situation. Will be switching providers.

First bill was $1200 for 3 months, as i thought i got billed every 3 months but it's monthly, second bill was $700 (35 days) which they cut down to $360. But they also only have this 2 day system to pay the bill when they send it out. I went to pay $360 and within seconds they wanted another $380. In closing i have one more bill then i'm onto someone else. DO NOT USE POWERSHOP IT IS THE WORST COMPANY. JUST STEALING MONEY.

Ripoff per month, we were getting charged about $170$220 per month which was fine and now they are charging my partner $550 per month, don’t go with these guys! Rip cause they will keep charging you and your prices will keep increasing while nothing is barely being used, I have found out that the current readings were incorrect and they have charged us for this, don’t go with these guys!

They have stated the first instalment of $550 was incorrect which the readings weren’t right and they still have stated this amount fully still stands.

Yeah goodbye we ain’t using this again! How can you bring down debts where they charge you a arm and a leg.

Offering no help at all.

Been with Powershop for about two years and have moved twice with them. All interactions in relation to moving has been hassle free. I've found them to be very competitive on price. Rated number one by Greenpeace!

I have been using Powershop as my retail energy supplier for a couple of years. Earlier this year I agreed to let them install a smart meter at my home. Recently I have had a problem with my power supply (converted from two phase to single phase to maximise the use of battery storage) and have contacted them twice, once about the impact on the smart meter and recently because the Powershop app isn't showing my power usage after the conversion to single phase. Both times it has taken over a week to get a response. The first time they stated they were unable to help. The second time (now 9 days after complaining) they claim they are still working on the 'problem'.
They rate very poorly on customer service.

I am a pensioner and they charged me hundreds of dollars per month for a tiny one person unit. My final bill was almost $50 for 3 days! I wasn't even in the house! They automatically take money from your account without much notice. I DO not recommended this company.

3 years ago you could purchase discounts at 37% when you shopped for discounts using their pricing model. Now if you’re astute you can obtain a whopping 7% discount. Robbed

I was an electricity customer of Powershop for 2 years and I found their billing to be deceptive and unnecessarily complicated. When closing my account with them it took months to finalise with continual inexplicable bills. Communication is appalling and I would recommend against using them.

Do the Numbers people... they are SERIOUSLY overcharging, then "Discounting"...
Here is my example... I have 2 meters on my property, 1 Meter is, Peak, Off Peak & Shoulder. Other Meter is Flat Rate.
Here are my numbers so you can see what they are doing...this is for 4 DEC to 1st Jan
Powershop charged me 24.37c/kWh (Off Peak) 38.20c/kWh (Peak) 30.41c/kwh (Shoulder) And a supply charge of 141.03 c/day
Now they also charge 30.14c/kWh on their Flat rate (this is where we use our main power...using 751Kw for the month. With the Supply charge 141.03c/day
So my total bill was $598.70, with Power Packs made it $550.22

So I priced Tango Energy...heres how they came out
17.71 Off Peak, 27.72 Peak , 22.22 Shoulder and Daily supply charge of 110 c/day
This is the jawdropper... 18.63 FLAT RATE!!!! and supply charge of 105.60
Add this all together and my bill for the month of December would have been..... $402.95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!With Tango
This is TANGOS rates all the time... no discounts... just normal rates.

So in conclusion, POWERSHOP are inflating their rates then giving you these 'Power Saver Packs' where you 'save' 20-24%, but your not saving anything, you are paying more...
If anything... you are paying for the MOST EXPENSIVE APP ON THE MARKET...at least $1200 a year for an APP, no one would buy that normally, but I did, for 4 years.

Get your bill, call other companies and get their rates... then work it out for yourself. Powershop say that they are giving you these discounts for buying upfront... but its a sham.

Have been with Powershop for six months now on their Powershop Lite plan, and can't recommend it enough. The service from day one has been fantastic, setup and connection was a breeze and done the next business day, and the rates are incredibly competitive with almost every other energy retailer - plus there's no gimmicky discounts for paying on time etc, it's just cheap no matter what. The app is also terrific, very easy to understand, sends push notifications for when my account is up for review and the next bill will be coming, and it's super easy to put in my meter reading, which they actively encourage you to do - means a more accurate bill and better tracking of how much energy I'm using. Love it.

Powershop took $770 then $970 twice 18 months apart as an "error" without consent, leaving me w/o food & rent for a week before returning my stolen money. Am changing provider

First 3 months great.Live alone in a unit. Bill $50 -$60 a month first 3 months. Just received a bill for almost $300 for the 4th month. That is $300 for 1 person living alone. Done nothing different this month. Enjoy 3 month holiday period then expect to be ripped off beyond belief. $50 to $60 a month for 1 person is reasonable. A jump to $300 for the 4th month is not.

They have to be the most complicated power supplier out there... transferred and in 4 months spent the same as I did in a whole year with my previous supplier. You have to wait for an email then buy a special package or use the app to get the discount you were told you were getting in the first place. Great I guess if you have the spare time to waste in working to get a good rate on your power bill every single month - but I just want to use my electricity and pay for it at the best rate I was told I would be getting. Customer service completely useless and apathetic.

We have been with Powershop for three years and can't fault their systems (website and app) or their customer service. I really like being able to track how much electricity we're using - especially over winter when we were seeing which approaches to heating were most efficient.

We have been with Powershop for 4 years now, and have been very happy from the start. I like that with the very well designed app I am in control of how I purchase my power, and with our digital meter we're able to track our usage to help keep our usage down. I purchase our power in blocks about 3 months ahead of time, which means we're always able to make sure of bulk discounts and I am always on top of our bills.

have 18 solar panels on roof 3 adult houshold.bill started out ok .$130 per month or so .ended up averaging $400-500 per month ....telling me $14-15 per day [usage for 7 adults....] queried twice,was told thats what it was and that was that .!!!!! swapped to agl and now my electric bill is appox $130-140 per month . dont ring after 6pm aust time as are based in nz .

Have been with Powershop for over 5 years and 2 houses now. Cannot recommend highly enough- great customer service and transparency- makes moving super easy too. The app works seamlessly -and with a smart meter you can really identify when you are using power and where you can make some savings. The future packs lock in savings and you can also plan ahead for future bills which are transparently estimated based on your past usage. If you don't have a smart meter yet - Get one free with these guys and see where your electricity goes. Am really surprised by the number of negative reviews here- not my experience and I've had some shockers with other energy companies.

I signed up with this company after leaving one of the bigger named power co's and boy did I regret it. Was promised a smart meter, which never arrived, and was also promised the ability to self read the power meter as I work full time and have two large dogs making actual reads problematic. After the initial shock of having the $250 debited immediately for no services actually given, I too received bi-monthly emails saying I was behind in my payment (which was setup as auto debit as required). I finally had enough when they advised after 6 months that due to the meter read not being conducted they were going to cut off my power, even though I've been overpaying due to their overestimation of usage. Followed up with energex and Fair Trading, but honestly, don't bother with this lot.
