We had 65 square metres of blackbutt floating floorboards installed in each of our two townhouses.
After a short time, weeks, the ends of the boards appeared to be dirty.
We washed the floors according to the installer's instructions but still the dirty ends remained.
They were stained and some appeared to be lifting up, as if swollen from water damage.
We contacted Metricon, who advised the installers, Perfect Timber Floors, would come out to investigate.
They sent [name removed] out to look at our floorboards, and she agreed with me that they did look as though there was water damage - she said at the time that they looked like they'd been laid while the floor was still wet underneath.
However, when the company came back with their brief report, they said that the causes were likely to be 'over mopping/cleaning, heating or cooling systems, or leaks'. And that none of these were covered by warranty.
How very convenient.
I hate mopping so that was definitely not the cause. I've had floorboards in many homes and never have I seen this type of damage.
Clearly, what [name removed] saw and said was not put into the report, and Metricon came back to say there was 'nothing they could do'.
Also very convenient.
Do not use Perfect Timber Floors because you are likely to be very disappointed with the result. Clearly the company cut corners and do not have a quality assurance process in place.

Was a headache to deal with from day one delayed install, average product, shonky installers and bad communication. Never again.

I have been constantly chasing perfect timber floors for the past month.. I have many issues with the floor it's lifting in many locations in my house . Staff have tried to blame it on client misuse even before they have got off their tushie and looked at it.. I have read up about the testing they do to ensure the product maintains its effectiveness for 10 years.. They even go into detail about dropping a metal ball onto the floor to prove how durable it is. Where it's lifting the most is not in a high traffic area. It keeps chipping that is due to poor installation i have done my research. I find a new chip nearly every week.. I have a vacuum that is for laminate timber floors and I have hardly mopped the floor since moving in.. When I have I have used the mop and cleaner they gave to me when we moved in. I have tried many times to phone the company left messages for the manager [name removed] who never returns my calls I have been dealing with [name removed] who has been extremely unhelpful and blames everything on client misuse.. I feel he just can't be bothered to fix it. So last week i had enough I went to consumer affairs over the issue I got a letter back they will be looking into the complaint further as I have a case. I have sent images and warranty details. At the end of the day the floor is under warranty and I will fight until your company fix it or give us back every cent we have paid for the floor it's not durable or effective if this is happening especially after we have paid a substantial amount of money out for a product that has many faults with it your company is so unhelpful and we feel we have been taken for a ride. Warning to potential customers DO NOT BUY FLOORING FROM PERFECT TIMBER FLOORS!!!

We have had our floors for over 8 years now and they have really lasted better than I imagined. They endure pets and small children and there is only the odd one or two that have any damage. Will definitely get these floors again when we build another house.
