Even after leaving Qld Government I've kept using Qsuper - much stronger performer than a lot of others and the service has been first-rate
Great call centre staff and excellent online services
Performed really strongly over the past ten to twenty years
Hasn't kept the 'defined benefit' fund

I have a small super account with them which started life a long time ago with Queensland government super. It built up nicely but since going into QSuper it has disappeared. They deducted fees and life insurance till it got below $500 and now they are still deducting fees, so it will disappear completely eventually. I fear that they will then start saying I owe them money for managing an empty account. I am eligible to take the money out now but they have never contacted me to tell me so, unlike my other fund. I will have to get in touch with them to start that process and I suspect they will just delay it until they have deducted all the money for themselves. In fact, when I pay the exit fee I won't have anything left.

I have twice send an email seeking a particular schedule that Centrelink require now that I am retired. The first email I sent was approximately 15 days ago, i received a response to that email which was not appropriate to the question. I then sent a further email 10 days ago repeating the same request and am still awaiting a reply. Twice I have had the misfortune to have to phone Q Super, the first time there was a wait time of approx. 40 minutes before I could speak to a Q Super staff member but I was at least given the option to leave my phone number and someone would phone me back with did happen. Today I am 'on hold for between 30 - 45 minutes as there again is no one available to speak to. Are Q Super so short of staff they can't provide some sort of service to existing customers? If this is the case please employ more staff. Q Super in the past has been an excellent organisation that looked after customers but not now.

I had only been a member for over a year and switched to Australian Super. To start they misspelled my name on application which meant i could not access my account, more delays to sort out. I made a query about my balance not correlating to a spreadsheet i made up using the daily unit prices. They found this difficult and more or less fobbed me off. I mean Super is not some piddling bank account it has large sum of money. Even the low life Banks have to account for every cent. I export my QSuper transactions as Exel and import to my Imac spreadsheet no problems. But trying to export the QSuper daily unit price does not work. I brought this to their attention as well as my other concern and had to wait over a month for a reply. It was more or less tough, just go out and buy Microsoft Exel. Are you kidding, how about you get IT of their butt and fix it for the customers. I don't recall having a Windows computer as a joining requirement!! This is a poor response from a QSuper Supervisor. I am surprised the Royal Commission has rushed through the Superannuation Industry, but it was hobbled with only a year to look at Banks. I think there is a can of worms considering the 2.6 Trillion dollars sitting there that most working people do not keep a close eye on.

Am absolutely astounded by the negative reviews, having been a member for 18 years now, I cannot fault them. The fees are less than other funds and can switch between options without cost. Have not had to call on the life or TPD Insurance, but these often come as a default package. As far as income protection is concerned, I have had to claim it twice the first time for 11 months and the second time 18 months. In both cases payments were commenced in the first week that it was eligible and provided the conditions were met, there were no issues what so ever and cannot speak more highly of QSuper. Furthermore, the qualifying period is only two weeks with "defined benefit". They also offer many more services, some free while others have a cost, like financial advice which is way lower than outside services. Also I note that one complaint involved what appeared an accident at work. Well, to my understanding that is not the intention of income protection, that should be workers compensation.

The complaints appear to have worsened over the last few years, I don't know if it's because the State Government has ripped off the reserve funds from the organisation to help feed the state coffers.
Lets hope there isn't another GFC anytime soon.

Overall I personally find that of the three superannuation companies I have had dealings with I personally prefer QSuper to the other two. It consistently outperformed them both.

It has taken six weeks and still waiting to have a simple form (Claim to vary a deduction for personal super contribution) processed. In the meantime Q Super is holding on to a tax deduction of $2200 in my account. I can't put in my tax return until this form is processed. Each time I ring I am told they can't tell me how much longer. They are obviously understaffed if they can't keep up with the volume. While they have had good returns in the past, I suspect things are changing due to the recent changes and increase in membership.

Qsuper use to be a great organisation up til 6 years ago. I cringe everytime I have to call them. Now the customer service is on par with Centrelink 1 out of 10 customer service. You cannot call them and talk to anyone under one. hour. I asked for 2 callbacks today. They don't respond. I had my phone on waiting for 40mintues I am so disgusted with the service offered. It would appear all the good staff have been sacked and they are just employing anyone. When you get through they can't even answer your questions. If I could use another super fund I would. When I asked for an email to put a complaint in I was told they didn't have one.

I've been with QSuper over 20 years. It has very low fees, extremely good performance and easy online access. You can check your balance and it shows your balance daily changes (not just weekly) and you can change your investments any time without any fees. The change takes effect in 2 working days (not in 10 days like some other like HESTA). You can pick any of 16 different investment options or make your own mix. I'm surprised about some bad reviews, especially for customer service. I needed to call them only twice but both times I got help within 5 minutes.

I've been with the fund for twenty years and always thought they were good until today. I'm retired and my balance is about to drop below a threshold amount they introduced in 2019, and I've been told I either cant touch my money or I have to close the account. Amazingly they still claim to be run for their members and they are not for profit. They were happy to have my account for twenty years, and now it's a case of "get lost". Really unhappy at being treated this way after being with them so long.

My brother died with money in q super which they are refusing to release to his estate because q super say they decide who gets the money left in his superannuation fund. My brothers wishes are being ignored and q super say they will decide who gets the superannuation money. Get out of q super everyone....

I joined QSuper in mid Sept 2019. I'm very happy with their investment performance, and the information they provide on their web site is brilliant. Performance and unit prices are updated daily. They have a wonderful graph tool which I often use to interpret the performance of the fund I'm in, and compare it to the other funds. The web site is user friendly and easy to navigate. The fees are reasonable, and include the investment fee, admin fee and indirect cost ratio. These fees are stated on the web site, in plain view, next to details of the fund (not hidden away in a PDS). The site also has lots of information on super and retirement planning. Previously I had been with an industry super fund, which I was quite happy with. But I found QSuper, with its lower fees and balanced fund strategy appealing

I discovered QSuper via a positive reader comment in "The Australian".

Member of over 10 years. QSuper is an organisation that expands and adds junk insurance to your account directly against your specified wishes: then hides under legal cover. Watch your statements closely and expect the addition of unwanted charges, particularly "income protection insurance". If you are a busy working person, best to avoid QSuper in the first place to avoid the hassle.

I joined QSuper about 2 Months ago and rolled over my other Super account into it. I have been a member of several different funds over the decades and I can categorically say that QSuper is the best Super fund I have ever been with.

I have had phone contact with them 3 times and all calls were answered professionally and courteously and in quick time. My first call was before I joined. My question was "do I need to take out insurance if I join up"? The answer was no. The thing is there is a choice not to take it and I did not and have never paid anything into it. Those that have complained about insurance fees are wrong, you can avoid it or cancel it it anytime. There is no use complaining about something that you may not have done.

I find their fees are lower than most other Super funds too. I also like the self invest option where I can choose to buy my own ETF's and shares as I wish. Plus being able to buy my own term deposits gives me so much freedom. It's like having a Self Managed Super Fund but QSuper do all the compliance for you without the headaches of running your own SMSF. It is exactly what I needed.

I have made a few switches within the fund and it is easy and effortless and goes through in 2 working days.

With the lower fees compared to my other funds, self invest option and the ability to switch anytime with minimal costs this is definitely the best Super fund I have ever been with. Why do I only give it 4 stars and not 5? Because their brokerage fees in Self Invest are a bit too high but other than that it is the right Super Fund for me. Thank you.

#delivery(4/5) #price(4/5) #quality(4/5) #customer service(4/5) #on-time(4/5)

Recently diagnosed with a brain tumour, prognosis of 12 to 18 months to live. Been with QSuper since 2012. Claims manager initially assures me that with my income protection insurance policy, I will only have a 2 week waiting period and will be back paid if my claim takes a while to process. Claims manager was WRONG , she later tells me I have a 90 day waiting period. Claims manager accuses me of being on sick leave when I opted in for income insurance protection suggesting I had a pre existing condition. Claims manager wants an ‘at work test ‘ done by my G P. I asked claims manager to put her false allegations in writing which she ignores. Claims manager was wrong. I was actually on full time contract at the time. On the phone Claims manager accuses me of working for a different employer prior to 24th December 2016 (opt in day for income protection). Claims manager says she will get back to me about these false allegations. As usual she doesn’t. I had in fact been working for same employer for four years prior to 24th December 2016 and paying regular QSuper contributions. I then find out that in my income protection had been cancelled on 5th February 2016 , which was 6 days before undergoing previous radical cancer surgery on the 11th February 2016. I have found the claims manager unprofessional, and in spite of asking for all issues she raises being documented in writing she just ignores me. Even requesting general information such as what type of income insurance protection I have been paying for for the last 8 years will take up to 45 days for QSuper to respond. I have found QSuper and particularly the claims manager so ill informed and unhelpful. I sent the death benefits nomination form to the claims manager. I asked her to forward it on to the appropriate section. She said she faxed it on but on enquiring I was told the form had disappeared. I feel claims manager uses her phone calls to intimidate with false information and accusations. She refuses to substantiate her accusations in writing. To me I feel it’s bullying. QSuper does not support its members. Time is running out for me, and I will probably die before I get any resolution.

I joined recently. My first employer contribution went in and somehow the system adjusted my name to someone elses name. Ive called several times for an update on when it will be resolved but am told they dont know when and to just keep calling back. I cant get my money refunded until it is resolved. This has been an awful experience.

I called up regarding what I thought was a second account which I found out there wasn't, however I discovered that I had "income protection cover" that was costing me $35 a week for $13,000 if I became unwell, & of course, if they approved it! Wow - that's $1960 a year of my money plus I had other fees coming out. This is outrageous. Basically $2,000 plus a year in silly insurance fees that you might (probably) wouldn't be allowed to have for a lousy $13,000!
Something seriously wrong with Super companies. They are making a lot of money out of us, & there must be a few who are not aware of the fees & insurances being deducted. Stay away from QSuper. I am looking to move on but have to research to find one that doesn't scam it's clients of a whole lot of their money.

I would just like to add that I had called to cease all insurances and the next day $60+ was taken our disability insurance, and a whopping $550+ for income protection insurance. And they are still taking insurance fees out when i went online and switched IT OFF! A complaint letter has been written and yet no response! I will be getting the ombudsman involved. there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with their system. As soon as this is sorted (legal action if needed), I will be getting out

I have been a member for 13 years and in recent years I have noticed a definite decrease in customer service accompanied by an increase in razzle-dazzle advertising. So it starts like Kermit the Frog coming out giving the show a big plug but ends like those two old guys in the box whinging. In this week's special show, I spent two hours on hold before I spoke to a customer service officer. I have sent three emails but have not received any response, despite QSuper saying that they response to emails within three days. No they don't. Meanwhile, I hear all about their commitment to supporting the community in their warm-and- fuzzy-glow radio advertising.

I have been with Qsuper 35 years. It use to be a great fund but like all government run departments has gone backwards. Terrible customer service. I lost money through their incompetence and they appear to employ a lot of people who have basic knowledge . Don't ask anything out of the ordinary or you likely will be given misinformation

I’ve been with them for 16 as a mandatory superfund for my work. The fund has always only been open to government employees until very recently. With this change (as expected) the fund has gone downhill, poor customer service, refusal to pay insurance claims, slow to process requests. The last change of investment mix request took over a week for example. Sending in manual forms never get processed. They need to take a long hard look at their decision to open their doors if they can’t cope with the extra members
