I got a text from NRMA'S (other person insurer) debt collector because my insurer RACQ didnt manage to fulfill there end of the deal and pay NRMA for an accident i caused 12 months ago! . I payed my excess of $600 ish and im a rating 1! - now ive been sent to a debt collector because the insurance companies incompetence of contacting each other!. How does a fully insured person get sent to a debt collector?! DISGRACEFUL! Not only that i had a terrible time getting the repairs on my car done at RACQ nominated repairer, in the end the repairers manager said we still it up and you can come back another time and we will fix it when you can leave the car for a longer period. They had it for a month for just a bumper bar!

I have to drive more than 60 klms round trip to pay money into another bank from RACQ Bank.
Transfer money from racq to another bank takes forever.
Useless bank. Avoid it

The web site is absolute rubbish, I waste 3 hrs trying to upload my driver licence and system asking some special size scan which I provide and still nothing.. RUBISH

All very nice and sweet til you put in a claim, then they turn cold...we were told our pet had accident cover from the day of cover, no waiting period, when our pet had an accident a week later, they said there were only a few categories of 'accident' they cover, which was to told to me during their hard over the phone sell, which was that we could have 'peace of mind as our pet was covered for the unexpected.... not worth relying on it.

I have had a hit run on my car and advised that i would like it repaired under a repairer i recommend and not someone who they recommend as that specific repairer has the worst rating\reviews currently and they seem to not like it so my claim which was supposed to have been reviewed and cleared by now is being delayed. When i asked their rude Customer Service Agents for a eta they advised that the reviewer has a lot of other claims so they cannot really give me a time frame. How is this my problem . Horrible service will wait till this gets approved to move back to my previous insurer as these guys are just horrible.

I have been with racq insurance forever and ctp yet this renewal they tack on 10% to my policy of 5 cars, no claims! Why? I check with other insurance company and beat their price no trouble, since they had the big change the company has gone backwards, no more business for them also staff not so nice anymore

Paid premiums for 12 months with extra TLC coverage. Lump appeared under my dogs arm got it tested was not cancerous was a fat build up and was quiet small. It got bigger so we had removed 3 months later. RACQ then did not refund me any money as they deemed it pre exsisting because i had tested 3 months earlier. Avoid racq pet insurance at all cost. Took them over a month since i made the claim to tell me they weren't covering it.

Made a claim straight after a severe weather event and it took four months for the claim to be declined on their definition of significant event.
Crawfords took over 100 days to look at the case. Builders came out twice, once without taking photos or notes. Four weeks later another person from the same builder attended and stayed for literally 5 minutes.
I have no doubt I'm heading to the Ombudsman.

Our house was burgled in mid February 2020. Repairs to house are underway, albeit slowly, but it is the failure to finalise the contents claim which is so frustrating. RACQ Insurance has had all the information, to our knowledge, for the best part of the last 8 weeks. It is now 10 weeks since the burglary occurred, how much longer for them to attend to and finalise what is in reality a very straightforward claim.

Bought a battery 22 months ago which went flat today. Got to buy a new one from the road assistance guy. Requested for a refund as still 2 more months to go to complete the warranty period. They said they can't give any refund.

No more batteries from RACQ unless they say openly that there is no warranty .

No more lies guys .

I called RACQ to cancel my current car insurance policy because I found a cheaper provider (80% less). The person asked me whether I wanted to cancel the policy from today. I said yes, and asked whether I was going to get any refunds. She said no, because I pay month to month. Then I asked until when I was covered. She said 3 more weeks from today.
I said that she should have told me that. She said that it is in the product of disclosure.
I consider this omission of details a really bad customer service, without caring about the customer, because I had paid for the insurance and was covered for three more weeks.
After I gave her my feedback about that, she made the change to cancel it at the end of the 3 weeks.
I will make sure I never buy RACQ again. They don't care about the customer, and they are only interested in your money.
I now understand why they have a maximum of 2 stars in their reviews
Bad customer service!!!!!!

Applied online lured by the 24 hr promise.
It took 4 days for someone to contact me.
After providing all docs-tax returns-etc., the loan officer goes awol for 7 days.
After I contact him he requests the same bank statements he had for a week but in PDF format.
I sent those statements right away (that did not add any information he didn't have a week earlier ) and pressed again for a timeline, within 10 minutes he rejects the loan, even though my initial request was not for a pre-established amount but for which amount I could be approved for, I have plenty of funds in the bank for whatever deposit they determined I needed.
Very pood RACQ.

I recently had a personal car loan approved with RACQ and wanted to express some concerns I had with the approval process. In particular, the unprofessional way in which the consultant managed the application and reviewed our personal documentation.

Despite receiving a formal loan approval, we received multiple emails afterwards requesting additional information such as bank statements and proof of identification. These were documents that were had already been provided weeks in advance, but only now were being re-checked for compliance. Further information was even requested the day before were scheduled to visit a local RACQ branch and sign the final loan documents.

Information requests came in the form of emails that were often unclear and resulted in myself having to call the consultant to seek further clarification. This was both time consuming and highly frustrating as the consultant frequently seemed confused and was unable to clearly explain what was required. At times I considered withdrawing my application with RACQ given that the consultant seemed uncertain on advice they would provide.

The application required us to apply for insurance on the vehicle before the loan was provided. However, the slow review process meant that we were insuring a vehicle for some time without owning it. As a result, I found myself preemptively arranging to supply additional documents in an effort to reduce further delays and to work around the consultant’s disorganised review process.

Overall, the application was stressful and time consuming, taking a roughly 3 weeks to complete.

I understand that personal car loans are a new venture for RACQ, and that time is required to refine the internal processes. However, this does not excuse the consultant’s lack of professionalism and expertise managing our application. Based on our poor experience, unfortunately I cannot recommend a personal loan through RACQ.

My advice would be to look elsewhere.

I am a long time holder of RACQ car insurance and I have never made a claim so when my premium went up by 10%, despite no change to my circumstances, I asked why. The first customer service officer tried to see me off by referring me to the PDS but I trumped her by saying I had already read it. She then developed an attitude towards me and said that because I drive a popular make and model of car the premium had gone up. What!!??? I have never heard that one before. So using her logic, if I drive a rare car the premium should decrease??? I think not. When I questioned this convoluted explanation she became insolent and blamed a general increase in premiums overall. I phoned back half an hour later and spoke to a much nicer customer service officer who explained that RACQ had this year taken away some of the extra little discounts that were previously able to offered to people like me. Truth at last. If you add to that the diversification of the RACQ into banking, their Smart Shuttle on Karragarra Island, Traffic Response Vehicles on the road, Commentators on the news and their Home Assist program with Tradies you get an organisation that just can't stick to its knitting. How about offering reasonably priced insurance premiums to your members? That's what we came for.

I am the person inconvenienced by another driver who has RACQ Car insurance. It has taken over a month to finally get my car booked for repairs and now have to wait 2 weeks for my car to fixed at the mechanic. 2 weeks later I am still awaiting a refund of the first taxi I had to use between work and the mechanic when I dropped off my car. I would never use this company if this is how a person on the other sides life is effected from a crash. If I was their customer and I got such treatment I would be looking at switching providers. The only praise is I have been provided a rental car while mine is being fixed.

I have full comprehensive insurance on my car with racq that I paid in full for a year. I did not receive a email/text or any communication from them that it was coming up for renewal and they took it out of my bank which was $900 and I was left with just over a $100 on my card all of a sudden I checked my online to see an automatic payment come out for insurance. I have no problem with this as long as I have some notification prior but I've recently bought a house and it's with Suncorp so I've put the insurances for that with them and was planing to switch my car once it ran out. So I called and cancelled it and they told me the refund could take up to 15days to go back in. 15 days is a bit excessive up to 5 I understand but 15 that is ridiculous. I have never had to make a claim so I have no opinion on that.

Having two dogs insured for a couple of years I thought they would cover a normal routine procedures including an X-ray and an examination for an accident.
They spent nearly three weeks finding every way to postpone the decision then not to pay the claim. Eventually they cited the reason that as the vet had not resolved the cause ( the vet cannot) they have the right to decline the claim, the reason was due to an obscure exemption buried in the fine print that other companies do not exempt and even cover with an exemption waiver..
To make matters worse the girl who called me with the outcome sounded as though she was quietly happy and enjoying the process of denying the claim.
I have now cancelled the policies and will never use this company again.
Please, please save yourself the heartbreak and avoid at all costs.

i agree that limiting the number of pets for people who have been with racq for many years is unfair. I have owned dogs for 12 years and currently have 5 and i have only ever needed surgery other than d/s (and never had any major illness) for one of them in those 12 years so i am not a high risk member
gives broad cover at a cheap price.
would be nice to have options of higher$ coverage on claims with higher premiums

Was surprised re 2 pets and that RACQ would not bend even though I had been with them for 10 years+ and never made a single claim! Suncorp here we come.
Cheap cover for pets of up to $500 with a $50 excess.
You can only insure 2 pets under their pet cover. $500 wont go far if your pet is involved in a major accident
