Bottom line: They made me wait 3 1/2 weeks before shipping out half my order (cancelling the other half), despite everything being in stock at that point. I had to spend more money and pick up the missing item at a local store.

This review is for RVandVanSurplus.com. If you look through their retro-style site, you will also find reference to RV Marketing, Inc (Elkhart, Indiana), V-Sales.com, and DCMco.com.

I placed an order for a complete Vortex vent van for my RV. This was supposed to be a Vortex upgrade/retrofit kit plus normal RV vent (so that you can completely replace an existing vent). The order was placed on May 23rd and all signs pointed to it being in stock (their website had a big heading that two other models of Vortex fans were not in stock). It turns out that the retrofit kit was in stock but the vent was not.

I received a receipt for my payment immediately but I heard nothing from the 23rd through the 26th, so I sent an email through their online contact form. Almost immediately, I received an email from Bob stating that they are waiting for the standard vent to clear customs in Chicago and that he could ship my order on Tuesday (June 1st).

On June 2nd, I emailed Bob back to see if my order shipped and whether I could get the tracking number. I never received a reply.

I called (888-303-8586) June 7th and talked to Bob. This time, he stated it would be Thursday (June 10th) before my order could ship. I called June 11th and was told it would be Monday (June 14th). I called June 14th and was finally told that my order was being shipped out at that very moment.

I called June 16th to get my tracking number. I couldn't talk to Bob (he was "getting a part") but was given a tracking number. Even though the tracking number showed it had been created on June 11th and never scanned by FedEx, I chose to try and have a little patience and gave it until the next day. I called the next day (no change in the tracking information) and was told that the package was sitting on a shelf, forgotten. It was finally picked up that evening and set on its way.

Two days ago on June 23rd (exactly one month from when I placed my order), I was notified that the tracking number had been delivered 2 minutes prior. I was sitting on my porch at the time and no FedEx vehicle had been by. I eventually tracked it down to the house down the street (Bob had entered the address incorrectly onto the FedEx label even though he read it back correctly to me). I got the package home, opened it up, and was disappointed. The only thing in the box was the Vortex upgrade/retrofit kit.

I started investigating and found that on June 14th - the day that the vents finally arrived and my order was boxed up - $25 of my original payment had been refunded without my knowledge or assent. This is approximately the different in cost between the vent/fan and fan only kits (the actual difference shipped is $26.08). Three calls June 24th-25th only got promises that Bob (who was always there but "getting a part" or "in his office with someone") would call me right back. It is now June 25th and I'm giving up on RV and Van Surplus. I picked up a vent for $40 at a local RV supply store and am installing the vent/fan now. I wish now that I had picked up the Vortex fan and vent separately on Ebay for approximately the same cost and saved myself two weeks of aggravation.

I was just reading some of these reviews and they sound exactly just like our experience, was charged the next day of our order and a month later still no tracking number and no vent, was told by Bob that it was back ordered,it was shipped e-mailing me the tracking number today he also told my Husband that if by today you do not get tracking number you can call me a liar so Bob you sir are a liar. we finally called master card and reported them and they have their fraud division getting our money back. we also ordered through another for less money and we are moving on. I do not know who the owner is but this company and Bob really do not know how to do business.

I had no problem with recieving my order which was an emergency escape hatch for a camper... It was the right size an fit perfectly just like I ordered it online.
The only problem I had was after reading these bad comments.. That I no longer believe has even happened from this company.
I ordered on Aug 7th,2013 and recieved package Aug 19th,2013 which was only 12 days later... THANK YOU RV MARKETING INC. FOR SUCH QUICKNESS with our ORDER !!!! We can now go camping for Labor Day Weekend :)

Purchased two items on April 4. Now June 10. Spoke to Bob and was told a bs story. Three contacts during period. Cancelled order. Waiting for refund. Terrible customer servce and so far, a total rip off.

I purchased a window vent on 4/28/13; my payment was taken from my account on 4/30/13. I heard nothing from the company for five weeks. On 6/3/13, I called the company and talked to "Bob." He told me he'd call me back later that day. He didn't. On 6/4, my husband spoke to Bob, who informed him that they had a "laid back" approach to doing business, they were very busy and customer service wasn't a priority to them. At the end of their exchange, Bob told my husband he may not even send us the vent after all, even though we paid for it. I filed complaints with the BBB and the Atty. General for the State of Indiana. On 6/5, I was informed by Bob via email that I would be refunded the amount I paid. I would never recommend this horrible company to anyone. From my searching the internet for reviews, this seems to be the M.O. for this company: Promptly charge your credit card for the purchase, ignore you for weeks without shipping your order, ignore your phone calls/emails, get nasty over the phone with you then grudgingly refund your money. I don't have my refund yet, either. We will see if I have to take it further.

After 3 weeks of placing the order I contacted them for a shipping date, told it would be the following Mon or Tues. After two weeks go by I send an email asking for the tracking #, nothing. I call another week later and get the run around and no call back. I end up finally filing a complaint with the Indiana BBB. This is a horrible business, the worst customer service and communication. In the same amount of time I was able to have custom benches made to order for my MH that were trucked from the West coast to the East Coast by a reputable dealer. I wish I would have seen this review site before ordering. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

I searched and searched for a right hand drain holding tank for our trailer and finally found the perfect one at Surplus online. It was a reasonable price and we received it quickly with ground shipping. I read some negative reviews and was weary at first. I am glad that I took the chance because it was just as described. We have a 2003 Cabana 18 ft trailer and had to replace the holding tank. I emailed the company after I purchased the item because and requested a tracking number. They got back to me within the next business day with a tracking number. THANK YOU!!! Great customer service and quick shipping.

I placed an order with RV and Van Surplus for a stainless sink, range hood and some table legs on Dec 18, 2015. I promptly received an email thanking me for my order and that my items would be shipped out within 5-7 business days and that I would receive an email with tracking information at that time.

I waited until after the holidays to follow up thinking that there may have been a delay in getting everything our due to Christmas, New Years etc... I called on 4 Jan, 2016 and was told by Bob that was the case and they expected to get my order our the door in the next few days. They were just waiting for the sink to come from their supplier--which they expected in later that week.

I called again on Friday the 8th and was told they were still waiting for the sink from their supplier. It should be any day now.

I called again the following week and was told Bob was in a meeting and he would call me right back. No call back. I was able to get a hold of Bob a day or two later and was told that the sink was in a shipment from China and waiting in customs--it should be cleared any day now. Fast forward to the 8th of February, still no tracking number, still no call back or email with information. I called Bob and asked him the status of my order. I was told it was they were still waiting on the sink to come in from customs. I asked if he had the other items in stock and maybe he could just ship those to me: Nope, nothing in stock. I asked him to cancel my order and he said no problem he would cancel it and take care of it.

Now we're into March and no refund. They have not responded to emails or phone calls regarding the issue. I have taking up a dispute with my credit card company to reverse the charges.

This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company. I own a small company so I understand the importance of customer service and delivering on your promise. RV and Van Surplus fails on both accounts.

There are plenty of other vendors out there that deliver what they say they can and will be able to meet or beat their prices.

Avoid this company and save yourself the aggravation.
