Sainsburys.co.uk Reviews & Complaints (27)

Re Coronavirus I visited the store in Bury St Edmunds 28th March. There were staff in the carpark, but no one explained the procedure so you just had to go by what other people were doing. The store was crowded & queuing down the aisle to checkout while people were going up and down to gather their shopping - definitely no way to stay 2 metres away! To go through check out I watched what customers were doing - no instructions as to when you could start to unload shopping - so I got that wrong!. A very unpleasant experience especially as I had gone at the time for elderly and vulnerable. Tescos definitely had a much better procedure & explained their procedure to customers. Communication is important.

Have ordered from Sainsbury's every week for several years. Their incompetence in handling deliveries is appalling with no regard to those unable to get to a physical store.

Visited Sainsburys Truro today. Kit impressed. One in and one out a good idea and the spray and paper to clean the trolley excellent. Once inside however the aisles were very congested with staff filling shelves and doing the online shopping. Very difficult to keep a safe distance from staff and other shoppers. Felt very uncomfortable. I realise shelves need restocking and on line shopping needs to be done for certain customers but it was a bit chaotic.

Had a delivery booked to arrive between 4.30 and 5.30 it’s now 10.30 and it just hasn’t turned up! I’ve been on the phone to customer services for over an hour and no one is answering. There is no way of tracking my order no one has contacted me to say it’s late or cancelled. I just can’t get through to anybody! I understand it’s extremely busy times but why send me a text and an email saying my delivery will be with me today if that is not the case?!

Order number 36310144 Ordered a paddling pool and to hit the £40 min for free delivery, added £11 of misc products. At 5am on the day of deliveyr, received an email stating no pool. Order arrived, with a charge of £7 for delivery of £11 of goods. Contacted CS, who said I was the mug for signing up to unrerasobale t&cs and a system which does not allow you the time to either amend the order or indeed cancel it if and when over half of the order value is unavailable, and free delivery is annulled. On the order page there was no clear indication this woudl happen. Talk abouyt taking advantage of customers (a vulnerable one no less) during this difficult time. Complete clowns for not taking a discretionary sensible action of refunded the £7 delivery charge, lost a regular customer and have guaranteed this is posted as a warning to others.

I have been a customer for years instore and online and I have registered my hubby as vulnerable and high risk so I tried to log into my account but it says not accepting new customers but I am not a new customer and I still get vouchers to spend and when I called customer service they could not find me but says the account is not closed but as I do not have a customer number or a online shop number not happy with this company

I was lucky to be an over 70 that Sainsbury's identified and gave a slot to. Most of what I ordered was delivered but I was asked to sign the handset! For this, the driver came right up to hand it to me, where was the 2 metre distance? When I commented on this, he said all his other customers wore gloves, and he was quite hostile. So they all got close to him. Other companies have signed it for me, its about time Sainsbury's sorted this out

One of the worst services available in the UK. Please don't order anything online, read this review first. I have ordered food and essentials on 11/03/2020 with my last money. My order is for £199, after the substitutes £201 have been take off my bank account. On the delivery slot between 12-13.00 someone rang on the buzzer for 2 seconds and until i get to the door, they was gone, leaving me no time to answer. Later i was told that this was the Sainsbury's driver. I did not know that until next morning when i called them to find out why they don't deliver my order. They send me an email as well that there is an issue with order, i rang them and they said that because i have ordered 30 pack of Highland 6x1.5L of water, their driver needs help. I have issue with my leg, and this is the reason why i have made an home delivery order, if i could manage to go to the shop or help their driver, i would shop myself. They said that the driver have tried to deliver the day before when i told you someone rang and ran away leaving me no time to answer. Then they said the order must be collected from their store, they really did not care that i am physically unable to do that. I really feel sorry for these heartless people, just imagine those poor people. Their driver needs help, but the ASDA drivers does not, they deliver everything to your kitchen table top without mooaning. I told sainsburys rep that i am unable to collect and i want to cancel this order.. Now the big issue is that today is 26/03/2020 and i still have not my money back from Sainsburys, no refund, not contact at all, have called them many times and they said simply wait until Thursday, after wait until Monday and then they simply switched off their phones, it's just a machine that holds you for 5 minutes and simply turns off the phone in the end, there is no option to speak to someone at all. My family now is in self-isolation due to the coronavirus and Sainsburys did not refund my £200 until now in these hard times, when my last money i have and i need for a food are now being hold for nothing for 2 weeks. In their website says the refunds take 3-5working days. I have now reported them to trading standards. If sainsburys reading this my order number is 314264529, my name is Anton Antonov.

My 83 year old housebound, disabled mother has been ordering off Sainsbury's since 2014. After 3 days of trying to get through to the helpline I managed today after nearly an hour on hold. She is not a priority customer? Other supermarkets have no free slots but at least they aren't pretending to support vulnerable customers. I have to make a 120 mile journey to deliver groceries to her? Don't expect the shop to be from Sainsbury's will you, now or ever again.

I have been attempting to contact Sainsburys helpline since last Saturday in order to register as being a vulnerable regular customer who regularly has home delivery. My husband and myself are both in our 70s and have both had serious illness. Like many others we want to observe the rules about self isolating but would also like to have a home delivery of essential items.

I registered last week for online service with Sainsburys even though I have shopped in the store for many years. As I am 75 and disabled, I tried ringing to inform them as they say on their website that they are trying to identify vulnerable people. I eventually got through only to be told that as I had not shopped online before I could not be added to the vulnerable list!!! I then asked so how am I supposed to get food then? The answer...."THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM" I am absolutely disgusted by this reaction and will never again set foot in a Sainsburys store. Their current motto is "Feeding the nation" I THINK NOT

Loyal customer for over a decade and now can’t get a delivery slot, even though I’m looking after two elderly neighbours/households. There is no customer service, no way to email or chat with customer service. The phone number is never answered. Very very poor service. How can they not have an online customer service response team in this day and age? How can you decide if I or my dependants are vulnerable or not?

I am 81. Shopped at Sainsbury’s since our local(8 minutes away) opened. Get my Petrol at Sainsbury. During the last few months l obeyed government advice for my age group and self isolated only driving to get shopping every week. Told by 111 doc that l definitely had the virus but not needing hospital so stay in . Told by Sainsbury, not vulnerable because not on shielding list. No letter. My daughter had to drive miles to bring me supplies. When l ring Sainsbury told quite unpleasantly l am NOT vulnerable and no help offered. I also have asthma, heart problems, and other problems. Horrified by their uncaring attitude. I eventually went online to Tesco who couldn’t be kinder, helped me with my first online shop. Said to ring anytime l needed help. Will l EVER return to Sainsbury.NO . I will never go near them again. And l always keep my word.!!!!!! I have cancelled their app and told them to stop bombarding me with offers as l will never use them .

13/5/20 Oxford Road, Swindon Store I would like to start this review by saying I have shopped at this store for 15+ years. Unfortunately, my experience at Sainsburys today was tarnished by a really unnecessarily, rude and extremely unfriendly checkout supervisor/manager. The employee concerned had no interest in any form of positive customer service whatsoever. I understand times are tough at the moment but this applies to 'everyone', manners and a little kindness costs/takes nothing. Making a customer feel like they do not want to return to the store can not be the aim of management surely? Would like to add that the employee working on the actual till during this time, was professional, polite and helpful and this review is in no way a reflection of her work.

Shame on you, Sainsbury's Trinity St, Bolton: My 86 year-old mam is classed as a vulnerable person. She's partially blind, has asthma, is on medication to sleep and myself, who cares for her, has major depression and also takes 10 tablets every-night which makes me extremely sleepy, instead of letting us go straight in, which is what we've been allowed to do, was told to queue like the others or told to visit between 8 and 9 in the mornings. There is no way we can turn up at that time, due to our health and medication problems. This is a form of discrimination against those who have ill-health and cannot go by these so-called rules. Some people outside Sainsbury's were disgusted with what had happened to us. I am totally upset by this matter. SHAME ON YOU, SAINSBURY'S. We'll take our business elsewhere, where they do let us in. Goodbye.

I work as a community nurse. Went into one of their branch to pick up medication during working hour in my uniform, they refused me entrance. Requesting i go and queue up. They speak about being helpful and support key workers but in action they failed.

We had been ordering frequently from Sainsburys for at least 3 years and valued ourselves as good customers, I live with my father who is over 70 and on medication and recently finished cancer treatment we are self isolating and he has filled in the government form risk list, we have not been able to make an order with Sainsburys and get told they are prioritising there customers, we have had problems making new accounts with other supermarkets and being able to get food orders. I write this review because I wanted to make sure someone at Sainsburys read it and understand that I will never be making another order from there supermarket.
