It takes 30 minutes to half an hour to speak to someone. Today the receptionist hung up because it was a bad line. Don’t bother emailing them. They don’t answer them either.

Have been a member of teacher health for a couple years now, me and my family really love it, I’ve been told by a few companies that I have one of the best coverages when it comes to out of pocket cost.

I have been a member of Teachers for 8 years and while the speed of service isn't always to my liking they do what they can to get a favourable outcome for their members. We have by far and away claimed more than we pay and with all the uncertainty going on at the moment it's nice to know I am with a fund that isn't making decisions based on what maximises returns for their shareholders, but rather what is best for their ENTIRE member base. Not just the individuals who kick up a stink about what they feel is an injustice.

I recently transferred from Medibank to Teachers Health Fund because the coverage and value was far more superior. Switching funds was a smooth and hassle-free process, which the friendly THF staff assisted with. I have had no issues making claims and am glad I made the switch. Thank you THF!

After 20 yrs with HCF I swapped to Teachers Health 12 yrs ago. I’ve found the fund to be great value. Membership team always helpful. Dental & Eyecare are both fantastic. Make the change today.

Lodged a claim via email three weeks' ago and still have not even received an acknowledgement that the claim has been received and is being processed. Called the Call Centre to ask whether they have received my claim and the call centre operator apparently found it amusing that I was calling and responded in a sarcastic, superior tone, 'Oh we'll process it eventually... maybe another in another 3 or 5 or 10 business days. I couldn't really say when it will be done.' This from a company who have previously not even bothered to process my claims previously unless I've chased them up. Really want to stay in this fund and support a non-profit fund for teachers, but I'm just not willing to be treated this badly. It used to be a great fund, but it is a long way from that now - something has clearly gone horribly wrong with their workplace culture for people to be behaving in this way and thinking it is OK.

I have been a continual member of a private health fund since 1977. I recently switched to THF and was appalled at lack of service and embarrassed when standing at a medical practitioner's counter only to find claims were rejected even though I had full extras cover.

Very prompt to get premium deducted but extremely slow in processing claims with excuses of additional documents and paperwork.Member in Top Cover for more then 25 years and never felt so frustrated.

I was informed by Teachers Health Fund my claim was denied & I had to go back to the doctor because the provider number on the form was hand written instead of being stamped. In the middle of a covid- 19 pandemic I have to go back to the doctor, stop him from seeing patients that really need to see him & expose myself in an unhealthy environment all for the sake of a stamp.
Really??

Well as from 8 June, assume many satisfied TH fund members will need to change funds due to new healthscope agreements..NOT!! I have been with this fund many long years!! More worrying is trying to find immediate hospital cover for elderly parents.

We have been with Teachers Health for probably 20 years, and largely been quite happy. However, with the rising rates over the last few years I decided to do some research. I contacted several 'Independent' groups and have spent much of my day on the phone. One person strongly recommended Australian Unity, and I was looking at changing, to save $600 per year, although being aware of less total cover for several extras (chiropractic, dental etc) Interestingly, whilst asking for time to contemplate the change, I was phoned by 2 others from other 'Independent' groups. Each worked through our usage, and cover needed, admitted that we'd be best to stay as we were, with Teacher's Health. So I really appreciated their honesty, as they would receive no commission etc from changing us, and admitted that we had the best cover for our current needs. How refreshing! But also reassuring that we are best to stay with Teachers Health. We feel we get good cover, prompt payments through the online system, and just have to cop these increases in costs as we do with so much today.

Paying TH for 3 years only to find out 12 hour before going to hospital, that my procedure (male reproductive system) is not covered under the basic hospital level. Three of the other funds that I checked DO include this in their basic plan.
I have guess teacher's don't have prostate problems.
I wasted about $14000 being a member of TH. Stay away from these rip offs
Read their PDS very very carefully and make sure you compare $ for $ what you get with other funds.
Health Partners was the one for us.

I have been going to Teachers Health Centre in Richmond for years. Dr Tony Fang is an amazing professional. He is polite,
friendly and gentle, not to mention very skilled. I have recommended many friends and family and they say the same.
Thanks Dr Tony for looking after my teeth.

After almost 20 years of membership, I joined a local YMCA gym to maintain fitness and health in my retirement. I'm 73 and have top hospital and extras cover. The gym waived their joining fee and simply direct-debits me $23.30 a fortnight for use of their extensive facilities. Great deal!

But to claim the advertised gym membership benefit from Teachers Health, I must first obtain a written recommendation from a health professional - at my own expense, of course. Then I must submit official tax invoices for each fortnightly payment. Bank statements etc will not do.

The maximum refund I may receive from Teachers Health is $200 in a calendar year. So after the cost of a visit to a health professional to have my gym membership endorsed, and subject to 26 fortnightly tax invoices being accepted by Teachers Health, I can expect about $7.60 a fortnight in refunds. Hopeless deal!

I value my remaining time too much to waste it on this cumbersome, unnecessary and mistrustful set of requirements. I wonder how many other disgusted members there are who, like me, just walk away and don't bother to make this claim.

We receive regular pamphlets from Teachers Health extolling the benefits of healthy living, eating and exercise. It's obviously just window dressing.

And please don't respond by telling me you understand my frustration/disappointment, Do something practical instead and change your outlandish requirements on this supposed benefit

I joined Teacher's Health after leaving another fund and I was expecting a massive hassle; the consultant I dealt with was able to get me the same cover for less with no drama, and was welcoming, helpful, and professional. I used a service already, and it was really easy to lodge the claim online through the app. I couldn't rate the whole experience with them higher!

I recently tried to call THF to discuss my policy with them. After several attempts and being placed on hold for long periods I nominated for a same day call back. Several days later and I haven’t been contacted.

I since contacted THF by email and received an automatic reply saying they are busy and would respond within 8 working days; that’s nearly 2 weeks.

How can any organisation with this service standard say it is customer focused?

If you do want to join this fund they will gladly talk to you straight away and take your money. However, if you have an enquiry, be prepared for the fact that you won’t be able to get through to speak to a person at the fund.

I have been a member for over 40 years and usually pay a year in advance to avoid the price increase. This year because of circumstances beyond my control I was one week late and therefore was denied the discounted rate. Don't
expect any loyalty or special consideration from this fund even if you have been a long term member

I have been a member for 20 years and now they seem to have worked put a way to sliw down claims. I paid up front for my daughters dental surgery. I sent them the invoice from the provider which is exactly the same as previous claims and they say they cant pay it because the providers address isnt on the invoice. He has provided his provider number which should be enough. I call to clear it up and spends 25 mins waiting whilst listening to some pre recorded whiney voice singing their own praises. Pathetic service. I pay for top cover to cop this. Rubbish.

They are quite happy to take your money and will process payments eagerly, dont expect to get a claim back within two weeks, if theres something stupid with the claim they will make you resubmit and wait another two weeks at MIN. if you have another health fund with equal cover go there, customer service is woeful

I have been a member for over 40 years with top cover and very few claims. Overall I don't feel it's very good value for money for the few services like physio and dental that I occasionally claim. But my real complaint is with the lack of adequate customer service and complaint system. When I rang last week for the first time in many years with a fairly simple but important question, it took 70 minutes to speak to a representative who put me on hold twice. After waiting another 20 minutes she could not answer my question so I requested a call back from a supervisor. Three business days later I had not received a return call so I logged the query and a complaint online only to discover after entering the details that I could expect to wait eight days for a response. So I called again and waited another 35 minutes to get a call back. The representative said he was unable to connect me to a supervisor and said he would log the complaint but there was no way of knowing how long it would take to get a response. I still haven't heard back. I thought every business was required to have a timely complaints system but it seems not. Time to get a new provider.
