I would not hesitate to recommend Tomato to any of my friends.
Maps for the immediate area for each location
When we had 2 free days in Osaka we had just arrived in Japan after an overnight flight and it would have been beneficial to have had some orientation before attempting to navigate our way around. Similar situation in Tokyo where we had 2 days without any directions.
I would prefer to pay a little more and have a smaller group.
Some accommodation was substandard.
The biggest disappointment were the flights and transfers. Coming from Australia, we were booked on Air China, with a 4 hour stopover in TaiPei. That was an absolutely awful experience! The plane was cramped and old. Plus the person in the next seat sneezed on my son, and he got sick as a result, eventually passing it on to me. Not something we needed on a holiday. What made things worse, was when we discovered that others on our tour, flew Qantas without stopovers. Why did we get the short straw? Same on our return.
We were met at the airport by a nice young man, but had to catch a train to our hotel, which was an hour away, with our luggage in tow.
The flight was a supposed upgrade costing an extra $400 for each member of our party of four. We were shocked and disappointed when we realised that we were the only group on our tour who had to pay extra to upgrade flights that were standard for all other members of our tour group.
We were picked up from the Seoul airport at 11.30am by bus and transported to our hotel. On arrival at the hotel we were told that we had to wait until 3pm to check into our rooms. Being exhausted and close to collapse we eventually paid $40 extra to access a room to rest. This was a disappointing start to our holiday.
Other than this we were pleased with the standard of accommodation and bus travel in South Korea, with a great guide who was very attentive to our needs.
We had a typhoon in South Korea and another in Japan which of course affected the weather and visibility when sightseeing.
In Japan the bus driver was excellent but we were disappointed with our Japanese guide who gave us misinformation with regards to booking Studio Ghibli tickets, which caused us to miss out on the experience when we got to Tokyo.
Left to our own devices when we reached Tokyo.

The tour guide tried hard and was a nice person , but lacked overall knowledge of Japan.
