In my experience, Hand to Hand Combat is an excellent way to get an ED visa in Chiang Mai (you need to live in Chiang Mai; they don't operate elsewhere in Thailand). The earlier review is clearly from a person who: a. Is unlikely to have ever actually participated in training at Hand to Hand Combat in Chiang Mai (based on the description); b. Is disgruntled because he did not get a refund and thus feels the need to write a negative review, even dragging in others who have nothing to do with the case (Dr Smith has nothing to do with the issue - why "quote" him? Is that supposed quote even real? Unlikely). I've had my ED visa through Hand to Hand Combat for almost a year now and have nothing but praise for them. From the very beginning they take care of all paperwork (and there's lots of it in Thailand), so all you have to do is to sign the various documents and show up at requested times. They also clearly state there are *no refunds* under any circumstances right at the start (perhaps they did not yet do that in the case of the previous reviewer, or perhaps they did - but at least they do so now). The training is two days a week for two hours each time. Plus you can go there at other times if you wish. You don't need to be amazingly fit, just able to spend a few hours doing physical exercises and you get trained in how to defend yourself in various attack situations. They have a very efficient and friendly team looking after you, advising of upcoming appointments (for example with immigration, for the quarterly visa extension) and making sure everything is always in order in terms of paperwork. I have nothing but praise for Hand to Hand Combat in Chiang Mai, which I have found to be a great way to obtain my ED visa without having to learn the Thai language. Strongly recommended!

- the hand-to-hand combat school in Chiang Mai, is the ultimate evidence that the Thai educational system miserably failed. In no Western country a school like this would ever be approved and accredited by the government and ministry of education, due to lack of curriculum and service level agreement. - I had a disastrous experience with them. I was committed and dedicated to learning self-defence and combat fighting. However, the owner and the teachers were not serious about transferring the knowledge and clearly failed to provide proper training and a student's learning progress - Moreover, the administration is an absolute zero; the secretaries are dumb and don´t know their business and how to deal with the immigration department. I had to do all the paperwork on my own, this not to miss any deadline and to avoid paying penalties at the immigration department. Warning: the school has no refund policy! Neither did I sign a contract where exactly this is stated nor has the owner ever mentioned that they don't compensate/refund the tuition fees (verbally or in writing), even in an emergency case, I had to return to my country of origin due to a medical case. "Mr Jongjet Pungsai, the owner of the hand-to-hand combat school understands and knows perfectly well, but he pretends not to and he doesn't want to. It's those unscrupelous business men, who violate Thai law knowing they will never be prosecuted. I wasn't able to find affordable long term care insurance on completelongtermcare.com. Everything is way to expensive and I don't think it's worth it. I seems like I would be better off investing my own money and self-insuring rather than buying long term care insurance.

My husband and I bought LTC insurance 6 years ago. When recent news broke that we would face a 60% premium increase we were devastated. With $27,000 in you don’t want to walk away but that’s what we are going to do. After researching Genworth and LTC, frankly I don’t understand how we didn’t see this coming. They have been in financial disaster for years. The company lied to shareholders and have been sued by shareholders. Their stocks have plummeted and their credibility is damaged. In 2014, trying to please shareholders, CEO Tom McInerney worsened the situation for policyholders by getting permission from state regulators to raise rates 47%. He nor Genworth care about their clients, all they care about is profit. Also the more I read about LTC in general the further I want to stay away from it. It seems policy costs will constantly rise and coverage will constantly lessen. There are well known journalists and analysts who agree LTC is a flawed insurance policy, it is not a solution or a viable product when it comes to caring for the aging because companies can not cover their costs and the business is unprofitable. Some major companies already stopped selling it. Actually Genworth stopped selling policies in states that did not approve huge rate hikes. At first we were extremely upset about letting LTC insurance go, after all who doesn’t want that peace of mind. But after researching and discussing the topic we believe it’s the right choice.

After check in we went to our room and found hair, dirty towels and general muck in the bathroom, the rest of the room was clean however. Went and complained and the duty manager never apologised and called romm services. They said we've done that room, tutted and went to the room. They replaced the towels, used a dirty towel to clean the floor and left saying "sorry, running late, I finish at 4:30". Breakfast, turned up, no table was clean so they put us at a dirty one, we waited 15 minutes for them to clean it. Then we had to ask for cutlery. We got our self-service breakfast, then had to go and find someone to get a cup of tea and coffee, basically left us to it without any instructions or assistance. When we checked out the couple in front where sked for feedback, but they never asked us as we think they made a note on their system to ignore us if possible. What a dump!!

Arrived checked in on the 7th March 2019 until 11th March 2019 from Oxford. The staff named Alex booked me in Room 402 went to the room and found out the room has never been done. The bed has used towel on the bed. The bin is still full of rubbish. there’s a lager beer near the headboard. Some pennies on the top of the desk. Went to the bathroom still have towel on the floor. I went to the reception and told the duty staff Alex and told him do you really wanna make me feel worst that what I’m feeling today? Do i have to have millions before you can give me a clean room? He is very apologetic and said no of course not. I said why did you put me in the room that is never been clean? He said I am so sorry I didn’t know. I ask do you ever check your computer record if the room has been clean? He said I will transfer you to room 407 moved in there and hoping to get some rest coz I was tired travelling all day from Oxford I couldn’sleep the room is very cold i tried not to complain and told myself not to go to the reception and again but about 5 am I still couldn’t sleep so I decided to call the reception and told the staff that the room is cold he answered I will send my colleague there to check it. The guy arrived with the little heater Manufacturer’s called interpart. I told the guy i don’t need the little heater can you please fix the heater and he did. I was very tired on the day that I arrived and never have a sleep until 8 am. I have checked in a lot of hotels in the UK and globally but never ever have experience an like this. Please IHG Group Personnel can you please train all your staff properly and make sure that they can deliver the best service that you can offer to your clients i am hoping that none of your future clients will experience what experienced in your hotel.
