Batteries.com Reviews & Complaints (30)

The order took over 2 weeks to be delivered.
There were no indications that the batteries were out of stock or would take 2 weeks to ship. I paid for priority shipping
There were no shipping confirmation emails, etc. so I'd know what was going oin.
I specifically ordered Duracell batteries. I clicked through an email advertising a special on Duracell batteries.
When I finally got the batteries they were Panasonic, so I feel there was a bait and switch.

I certainly won't order from them again.

I placed an order on 5/24/06 for an order that was not currently in stock. (Order ID: 531726-0524104733)

I didn’t have a problem waiting until it came back in stock.

So I would periodically log into my account and use the online chat to check on the status of the order. I spoke with Nichole on a few occasions. Each week I was assured the battery would arrive in a shipment next week and ship to me shortly after. So when I didn’t get a shipment notice each week I would login again and ask where it was, only to get the runaround.

Earlier this week I asked Nichole where my order was and she quickly ended the chat session. I immediately logged on again and someone else (can’t remember her name) told me that the battery would arrive on 6/29/06. I logged in today because I didn’t get any notice. I asked Nichole where the order was and she said she would check. After sitting idle for 15 minutes or so she ended the session again without a response.

I clicked on the chat link to login again, but it said it was unavailable and I could leave a message. I left a message saying to cancel my order if it wasn’t going to ship this week.
Logged in later today and my order was cancelled.

Ordered one battery in late May - 5/28 (which was listed as in stock). My PayPal account was immediately charged for the battery. Three days later I received a package from batteries.com - which contained a couple free batteries, but not the one I ordered. Since I had not received any confirmation of my order, I sent an email inquiry about a week later - but only received an automated reply. Over the next couple of weeks I sent 2-3 more emails without any reply (other than the automated reply). I tried logging onto the batteries.com web site - to track my order, but the system never showed information on my order. I filed a dispute with PayPal as I could get no response from batteries.com - which immediately brought replies from two individuals at batteries.com (one stated the item would ship around 6/16). On 6/27 I sent emails to the two individuals who had responded previously - asking to cancel my order and refund my money. On 6/28 the order had been canceled, and my money refunded.

Ordered a CR2025 coin cell battery on Sunday, April 25, 2004. After waiting for a few days with no update on the status, I emailed customer support. I received a reply that work was being performed to the order system. It said that my order must have somehow gotten lost in the system, but would ship by the end of the day. My battery arrived a few days later via USPS.

Ordered batt for Sony Camera - arrived 3 weeks later. It was not the battery that I ordered and although it said 100% Sony compatible, it did not work. Called (8 tries) and got an RMA number. I mailed it back 2 weeks ago. Called them 1/21/07 and they said that the Post Office held all their packeages (I guess they dont pay their bills). They assured me that the RMA would be sorted out by Friday. Called on 1/26 (4 tries). Got a woman who told me that they have only sorted through about 75% of their mail. I suspect this is all a story. They said they would email me when they get to mine (they don't have it yet???) Well, suffice to say I think I am going to have to kiss off the $45 for the battery. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE FOLKS. If not crooks, they are certainly poor business people.
Update - Called 1/31 and got the same "Post Office is holding our mail" story. They said they would call me on Friday 2/2 if they did not have it.
Follow Up - 2/9/07 I finally got my refund from them after 8 phone calls and the same "Post Office" excuse. These are lousy folks to do business with and I recommend that you look anywhere else to buy batteries.

BEWARE OF THE WEBSITE'S PROMOTIONAL CODES - I ordered a laptop battery on 1/11/10. At the time I placed the order, the website advertised free shipping -AND- a NEWYEAR10 code for discount of 15%. I had trouble entering the code which was to expire at the end of the day. My e-mail order confirmation included the credit for free shipping, but no mention of the discount. I called customer service immediately after placing order and pointed this out. I was told by Rep#1 (one of the 2 reps who take these calls) that I should send her an e-mail message and she would manually make an adjustment to my bill to include the 15% discount. I did so, and followed my e-mail up with a phone call on 1/12/10 which was handled by Rep#2. Rep#2 put me on hold while consulting with Rep#1 and came back with response that Rep#1 would post the 15% as a credit to my credit card account the very next day. I sent another e-mail to Rep#1 on 2/20/10 as I still had not seen the 15% credit. I followed up that e-mail with a call to customer service on 2/24/10 and was advised by Rep#2 that the battery had been on clearance since November and did not qualify for the 15% discount. Why had the NEWYEAR10 code not stated that there were exceptions to what it would cover? Why had NEITHER Rep told me that in my earlier contacts with them? I've been cheated! I will not use this company EVER again.

I had one good order from this store last week, so I tried again.

Ordered a spare battery for my new personal camera. They took my credit card information and told me they completed the order. The very next day, they sent me an email telling me it was back ordered. I consider this a Bait and Switch practice, as the only alternative offered was much more expensive.
They showed *no* interest in working with me about this, even though I'm a corporate buyer. When I asked to cancel the order, I was promptly hung up on! I had to call back and hang around on hold till I could talk to another disinterested employee.
Dealing with this company is just not worth the hassle. They don't care if you are satisfied or not. Just do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.

There were several batteries for my camcorder available. I chose one cheap name brand 700mAh and one expensive Batteries.com brand 1100mAh one. Got shipped the right 700mAh but they shipped a house (no) brand name smaller 770mAhn instead of the 1100. I called, they asked for me to return it. I did and that's the last I heard of my money or battery. First, no crosshiping. Second, wait up to 10 business days for them to "receive it". Third: they never "receive it". So they never shipped my paid-for battery, and now they claim they haven't received the WRONG one they sent and I returned as instructed, which was the wrong one to begin with!!!!! Haven't answered to a single email, phone service could be better. I challenged the payment with my CC. company and filed a complaint with the Better Business Beaureu. Avoid. Seriously. Will never deal with again except to warn everybody of doubious practices and bad service.

I ordered a backup battery for my toshiba laptop and it arrived quickly after I placed order. I was very satisfied. But this is not the end of the story. In a couple of weeks after use, I find the battery does hold full charge, but not long. Each time I turned off the laptop (not standby or so), the battery discharged quickly. In a day, 40% charge was gone, in two days, 80%, and in the third day, no charge left. I was very upset and so I called the customer service today (888-288-6500). Not long after wait, Steve picked up the line and I explained my situation. He immediately issued a replacement for me. When I told him that I am moving to California in a few days and whether he could send it to my CA address or expedite the shipment to my current one, he told me that the next shipping will be $29.99 but he would only charge me $2.99. I said OK and felt very happy. Then I asked him how I could send the battery back to him, he told me to keep it to save me the hassle of shipping it back. WOW. You do not see this kind of service often, do you! I would recommend this site to all my friends and definitely will by from them again.

Its been over a month that I order 2 sets of 40 AA batteries pack and I haven't gotten the order or any emails or note from the company. Status shows "out of stocks" for more than a month now. I sent them email but never got any replies back.

I would never buy from them nor I recommend anyone to shop there.

I placed an order for a laptop battery on May 12th. I upgraded my shipping to "Guaranteed," which, according to the website, meant that "...you'll get your order on time or your order is free. You heard it. Your order is on time or we refund your money when you select UPS Guaranteed Ground." (from http://www.batteries.com/help/shipping.asp.) The "guarantee" was five business days from the day of shipping.

According to the website, my order shipped out the following day, May 13th. Which means, according to their guarantee, that it should have arrived on May 21st or earlier. From May 13th to May 19th, the UPS tracking said "Billing information received." On the 19th, I emailed customer service to see if they had any further information. Almost immediately after I emailed, the UPS tracking was updated, with a delivery date of May 23rd.

Now, I don't know what happened, but my package obviously did not ship out on the 13th, as quoted on the website. I have my suspicions, but in the end, I really don't care. The "guarantee" does not qualify its refund policy. If I do not receive it within five days, it should be refunded.

I called customer service to get my refund, and talked to two very unhelpful representatives, including the "director of customer service." She told me that I "was missing the point," and that "the policy does not apply if UPS 'drops the ball.'"

Whatever. I don't care if UPS dropped the ball, if God himself hid the package, or if some careless warehouse employee went to lunch and did not send it out on time. If the site said it was shipped on the 13th, I should have received it by the 21st, not one day later.

Worst experience I ever had since ordering on the internet the last 15 years. Their promotion was buy one 9 volt battery and get three free. Never received free ones after being told they would send them and then called again an told they were out of stock and would refund the order. Still waiting for refund and will take the loss as this company has no ethics or honesty.

I purchased a battery which was listed as a replacement for a specific model number battery which came with my camera. It turned out that the battery was not compatible with my camera, after all (the customer service rep admitted this when I called to obtain by RMA). I returned the item and, although I was refunded the price of the battery, they did not refund me for the shipping charge. Why should I have to pay for shipping if the merchandise was not as advertised? I e-mailed them to ask for a refund of the shipping. That was two months ago. I never received the refund for the shipping, and I never heard back from them. Beware of this merchant's bait-and-switch tactics!

I ordered two cordless tool batteries, received them in a few days and they are better than the original batteries that came with the tool. They are made in Hong Kong, so the jury is still out on how long they will last, but so far I am quite happy with the product and the online merchant.

Very very bad customer service - 2 months late with a backorder of AA Alkalines...when they finally arrived they were thrown into two plastic bags with no packaging and THEY WERE LEAKING! Called customer service - they said no returns because the origional order was placed more than 45 days prior! Will not respond to emails. These guys continue to be in business only because they own the name batteries.com.

Order placed on 10/27/08, as website showed battery in stock. As of 11/13/08, order is still "At Warehouse". I tried to cancel order and was advised that I could not cancel but I could refuse delivery or ask for a return shipping label. I certainly won't use this retailer again.

Update: My order is still "At Warehouse". Spoke with customer service, told I couldn't cancel order. After pressing rep, was told they would call the warehouse to see if order could be cancelled, would call me with update. Four more days have passed, no call.

Update: Battery arrived in December, 7 weeks after placing order. I refused delivery, so it would go back for a credit (as customer service originally told me to). Waited 6 weeks, no credit issued. Filed a dispute with AMEX. Have now been advised by AMEX that Batteries.com did not respond to them so they are issuing me the credit. Good luck to those who purchase from this merchant!

I placed an order with Batteries.com on June 22, 2006 and received a partial shipment. I have requested assistance and received no reply. It's been a month and a half, and I've given up hope that they will send the remainder of my order.

I would not recommend shopping here.

It's been two weeks and I still haven't seen my order. Talked to CS rep last week, and the rep told me to call back Monday (today 03/13) if it not arrive by then, and they will send out new order. Called to today and the rep (don't know if the same rep) told me to wait a few more days!!! Of course, I wasn't happy with this at all, but at the end of the call the rep told me she will ship out a new order today. Let's hope it is true. Prepare to wait if you order from batteries.com.
