My broardband company were taken over by chess, i was sold an up grade to fibre optic for on of my line's to up grade the other they wanted £200. was told it would ne for 18 month it turned out to be 3 years was given a price then they charged 50% more. Really hard to speak to anyone. They did ring me to ask about there performance they promised some one would get back to me, surprise no one did. As a norm i do not write rewiews but as a company they are SHOCKING

Shocking company only looking out for them selfs I got suckered into a long contract that I did not agree to they told me if I wanted out it to pay them 2.5k and they would release the contract (CROOKS)

I called them the other day about my business being shut due to covid 19 and they told me tuff crap we still want paid we not bothered your closed as we are still open am need paid and if u don’t pay your bill we will sent it to debt management total crap company to deal with and there super broadband is not super it’s crap

PLEASE DO NO USE THIS COMPANY. there is better and cheaper out there.

Really disappointed with this company, have been with them for 4 years. With the Covid situation we needed to have our VOIP service put on redirect to a work from home number. Had a call later in the day from chess saying the engineer was about to do it and that they wanted £66 immediately over the phone or they would not do it. Very disappointing demand especially considering I have had a "perfect" monthly corporate account that i said add it to but this wasn't an option...."CREDIT CARD NOW" (and I bet ill have to pay again to get it transferred back!!) Terrible loyalty to customers and given they refused to do the redirect unless i paid upfront just smacks me of profiteering whilst people are actually very poorly out there.. Not a very responsible company, as a result will be leaving to join 4comm and take on their HIHi system. Which a friend has and I can tell you its fantastic..

A total nightmare to leave - we are stuck in a 4 year (very expensive) contract. I contacted them to say we were leaving after the recent price increases and asked for confirmation - it took 10 days to get any reply that said we were able to leave. As that was then 15 days from when I received the notice of price increases it doesn't give me enough time to move

I have been told by another supplier that the leaving day is from when I sign up with a new supplier but chess have said if I have anything with them after the 30 days (it takes 10-12 business days to move) - I will be charged.

This is not the first time this has happened with chess - I have been trying to leave for years, be very wary!

I've been a customer of Chess for a few years now and dread ringing them with a problem! Overcharged on our last bill, 2 engineer visits who still haven't fixed the fault. We cancelled our DD knowing what they're like and paid credit card. Low and behold the invoice for this month has arrived with even more unexplained charges. They've increased their prices too in the middle of Covid19, but with no notification to us.
Can't wait for our contract to be up for renewal so we can move.

I don’t understand how I ended up with a five year contract and ever increasing monthly prices. Every now and again they ring me to ‘review’ my services. I always say that I want to reduce the prices as I think they are expensive but then end up with a new five year contract. I have never signed a contract as far as I know!

We have had the electrition/handy man quickly check our phone line whilst he was here on another job and he has confirmed the line is dead and call our phone providers to sort it out.
We have had no phone for 2 days and no luck with the portal login in and there is no number you can just ring!
We have also had lots of bad experiences with them in the past.

After not receiving our new router I rang again and spoke to a really helpful gentleman and the situation was sorted and the router in on its way

I've been a long term customer (at least 8 years) and on my second contract with Chess. I've no complaints about the Broadband and customer service BUT my circumstances have recently changed and I need to move offices, which is serviced inc a B/band system. Apparently I'm locked into a contract until May 2023 and there's absolutely no break clause, No facility of a one off cancellation fee. So if I use it or not, I'm in for over £2000. IT IS DISGUSTING THERE IS NOT A BETTER SERVICE FOR LONG TERM CUSTOMERS........Be warned!

I have been with chess for about 3 years
Problems started to occur when i came out of contract December 2018
They seem incapable of sorting any issues
They take money from my account using the direct debit i have set up with them with no justification of the amount ,
They seem to find it impossible to raise credits even though they are due
I stupidly renewed a contract with them in September on the strength of false promises
I would question the good reviews of Chess as i have nothing good to say about them

I have been waiting for Chess ICT to transfer for phone number to a new account for 6 months. I have spoken to my ‘account manager’ on numerous occasions and had every excuse and broken promise possible. I write this is desperation that something will actually be done about the situation.
