If you should send your PC to Dealtree in regards to thier used PC purchase program, and they do not wish to pay, notify Dealtree that you will refer your situation to your State Attorney Generals Office. (No cost to you.)
I have 15 years of government IT experience. I had sent Dealtree a good working e-machines computer in regards to thier computer purchase program. (As advertised by Circuit City, and other big box retailers.) Thier online purchase price estimate was for $147.40. They received the shipment, and quickly responded with a e-mail stating a $0.00 value, stating that it did not work.(Body of e-mail text below...)
Dear Tradein Customer:
The Tradein Item that you have sent to us has arrived in a condition other than
what was quoted on your estimate. The item specifications provided were
incorrect and the unit has no value as a tradein. The components of the unit
may be useable, but we do not purchase components as a part of the tradein
program. If you would like the unit returned to you, we can arrange for that -
however the return shipping and handling costs ($85.75) will be your
responsibility. This cost is comprised of the shipping costs to and from our
location, and a $25 inspection fee. You have 72 hours to respond to this email
and notify us of your intentions.
I mentioned that the shipper received the PC from me packaged in good condition, Dealtree should file a shipping claim if there is a problem in regards to computer damage. Thier plan is not to pay me for my computer sent to them.
They received it undamaged according to the shipper, and want $110.75 to return it to me.
First: It took seven days for order fulfillment. 7 days to generate a shipping label and stick the label on a box! Yes, DFW had a snow storm but seven days, really................
Second: Cowboom emailed a discount coupon for my next $50+ purchase due to the storm. This offer can be described as weak at best. How about upgrading the shipping to offset the unacceptable delay????
Third: My DCC-1200 was delivered by UPS (2/11/2011 @13:09). This item is REFURBISHED with a 90 day warranty. The Cowboom web page and my invoice both listed the DCC-1200 as NEW with a three year Warranty. Additionally, the GOLD TONE Filter was not included, the lip of the carafe is BROKEN, the hinge for the top lid is BROKEN and a rubber foot is missing from the bottom of the unit.
Please excuse my poor use of the English language but WTF!
This one transaction includes Internet Fraud, False Advertising and Incompetence. Cowboom/BBY/Dealtree have many problems which are becoming common knowledge. Whether you review Ebay Feedback or Google search results for Cowboom, the evidence is there for everyone to see.
In the pre-Internet days a single complaint letter was said to represent 1,000 customers. Today it is estimated to represent 10,000 dissatisfied customers.
I will be adding my voice to all the other dissatisfied people. Including the appropriate Federal agencies concerned with Internet Fraud and False Advertising. Oh and each analyst covering BBY will hear my story.
1) Poor Service
Their support is non-existent, as is communication with no attempts made via e-mail or by phone to help resolve my issues. They are rude, unprofessional and unresponsive.
2) Incomplete Product Shipments
The PS3 I purchased from them was missing a USB cable and came in a box that looked like it was run over by a bus.
3) Faulty Products
The PS3 they sent me played neither Blue Ray discs or games as advertised despite the fact the description on Ebay said the product had been "tested" and was in "good working condition."
I purchased my product via EBAY in the Best Buy Outlet Store and I would not recommend this to ANYONE! How Best Buy EVER got in bed with this company is beyond me but my guess is that it won't last much longer.
I had previously made a purchase from them on June 1, 2007, which went fine, and the item arrived as described, so I figured this was a reputable seller.
I received my refurbished 60GB PS3 on Jan 3, 2008. The package arrived double boxed, which I thought was a good thing. Strangely enough, the inner box that contained the PS3 had shoe prints all over it, which was disturbing, because it made me think that more than one person has used the product box as a stepping stool.
Once opened, the PS3 was COVERED in scratches, like somebody took fine sand paper to it, and every port (USB, etc) had caked in dust/gunk. The controller even had buttons that made a small crunching sound when pressed initially (like dirt/gunk was being crushed), but that went away after a few button presses. The controller's analog sticks were not smooth in their movement, like there were grains of dirt in the joint.
I hooked up the unit and turned it on thinking that as long as it works, I'll settle with what I got, even if it wasn't in "Like New" condition. I put in a PS3 game, and it worked. Next, I put in a PS2 game (Jak & Daxter), and the system hard locked. I tried other PS2 games, but every one of them locked the system up. The 60GB PS3 has PS2 hardware in it, so this told me the PS2 hardware had a problem. I chose the 60GB PS3, because I have a large library of PS2 games that I (and my son) still want to be able to play without having both the PS2 and PS3 (and their accessories) all hooked up at the same time.
Inside the box was a pink piece of paper describing my 30 day warranty, and if there were any problems, that I must call the number listed on the paper. I emailed Deal Tree, but I figured they would tell me to do what was on the included paper. I spoke to the folks at the number, a company called IWB in California, and they agreed to let me send it to them to "check out", and they would either fix or replace it. After shipping it to them via FedEx Ground, I got an email from Deal Tree.
Deal Tree told me they issued an RMA number and for me to send it back. I explained I had already mailed it to the people on the piece of paper, so they asked for a tracking number and explained that they would have given me a shipping label. Given that they said they would have paid for shipping, and given I sent it ground (the cheapest), I asked if they would reimburse me for the shipping cost, since it was defective out-of-box. In 3 emails asking that question, they have not yet responded to that question, but they have been helpful in answering my emails and explaining everything else.
They told me they would either replace the unit or refund my money that I paid for the unit. I mailed it to California on January 7 and am awaiting their receipt of it.
I am very disappointed that a system described as "Like New" arrived looking like it was old & mistreated, as well as having a feature defective out-of-box. I am optimistic that they will take care of me though. I will update this review with the outcome of this tale.
Update: The company IWB sent me an 80GB PS3 replacement, which while technically an upgrade in the minds of some means all the hassle and expense I went through trying to get a 60GB for the built-in PS2 hardware ended in failure.
DealTree (Eric) claimed ignorance about the pink piece of paper that told me to send it to IWB if I had any problems. When I scanned it and emailed it to him, he stopped responding to my emails and had a guy named Samuel email me saying that they couldn't help me and to try calling their support number instead. (After a week of emails.)
Bottom line: DO NOT buy from this vendor. You might get lucky and get what you are intending to purchase, but if you do not, you will deeply and truly regret giving them your business. I ended up with a refurb PS3 without the PS2 hardware built-in and technically was given an upgrade, since the Hard Drive capacity was bigger, but I did not buy it for the capacity.
Note that the upgrade came from IWB (the guys that refurbish PS3s for DealTree). DealTree did not want to help me. They also did not refund my money for the ground shipping I paid to ship the defective unit off, even though their policy is to send you a shipping label. DealTree will never get my business again, and I will spread the word of this experience with others.
But that's not the kicker... I left negative feedback for my poor experience with them on eBay, and despite my timely payment via PayPal and general niceness before I received the product, they had the audacity to leave me negative feedback! "Item arrived as stated in listing. Uncooperative bidder. Beware!"
Bastards. Take your business elsewhere, folks- DealTree is scum.

OK no problem. I paid through paypal including all info requested. I also asked for e-mail confirmation of payment being received. Nothing. I waited four days and got nothing. I found the number and called dealtree. First I talked to "Guy", he couldn't explain exactly what was going on (which is bull*#$%) he found my payment but could not find anything on the PSP. I asked if he would refund my money and he replied "I could refund your money if your ok with getting a negitive review for non-payment on an item." WTF? He kept telling me my auction number had to be incorrect. At this point I told him I would go back to my e-mail and overstock and verify all information and then call back. All my info was correct, so I called back. This time I got "Matthew" so I asked for Guy, Matthew told me he was on the phone so I started from scratch with Matt. Matt eventually found what was going on. My PSP was sold on another auction and that bidder, supposidly, received the product. He searched his entire inventory to find me a replacement to no prevail and finally agreed to refund my money and stated that I would not get a negative feedback???
I have not yet received my refund it has been a week nor have I received a feedback.

The auction stated "Functional Condition: Factory Sealed, New
Cosmetic Condition: New
Testing Notes: This item is working. This item is in the original box.
This item is factory sealed with no apparent damage. Any originally provided parts, manuals, accessories etc that were provided with the unit, will be contained in the original packaging.
Factory sealed items in the original box contain all manufacturer supplied accessories." All of which were out and lies.
When I contacted them and politely pointed out these problems I was told that "as over seven since the sale had elapsed they would do nothing".
I emailed them again asking for an exception based on the circumstances and their blatant misrepresentation of the product and was unceremoniously informed that their policies are rigidly enforced and I was out of luck.
I think that it is ludicrous for these people to be allowed to trade on Best Buy's good name. These people are nothing more that crooks posing as honest merchants.
The auction also states " Your purchase is 100% guaranteed. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, please contact us using this form BEFORE leaving feedback and we will be more than happy to immediately assist you. At Best Buy Outlet, our customers are the #1 priority, and we make every effort to ensure your shopping experience is a great one." Wonder why that policy isn't rigidly enforced? ? ?
I've done business with Best Buy for several years and always been happy. This is turning into a very bad experience which could get very ugly.
I'm going to follow up with every legal remedy that I can.
This operation could really hurt Best Buy's image and sales............
