Regarding Your Order #49749
Date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 13:42:26 -0400
Hello, this is DigitallyDiscovered.Com contacting you in regards to the order you placed with us on the web. Please contact us at and ask to speak to Mickey extension 233. Please call during our business hours: Monday - Thursday 9:15am-8:00pm EST, Friday 9:15am-4:15pm Saturday - Closed and Sunday 10:00am-6:00pm. If I am not available when you call, you can speak to anyone else in our department Thank you.
Well, I called back and Mickey said that the camera was on backorder and that it will take an additional 10-15 days. So I waited the 10 days and called back twice. The first time they hung-up on me for asking why they could get my camera in stock. The second time they put me on hold for asking the same question.
I was never charged and I will never buy from them again. I bought the same camera from B&H photo for $30 more, but I know I will get it in a timely manner.
end
We immediately ordered the camera online. The following Tuesday, I recieved an email that the camera was being shipped to Digitally Discovered from the "main warehouse" - (BS) - and that it would be an additional 7-10 business days before the camera would be shipped. This is leading to a delay of close to half of the visitor's trip before she receives her camera.
These folks have great career prospects politics. They evidently lied to me about the availability of the camera and the shipping date. I would not have ordered from them if they had been candid about the camera. I will not order from them again and urge extreme caution to anyone who does.
Best,
Mark Stein
I know my review is significantly different from the rest, so I'll describe my experience in length.
As I wrote, I was petrified after reading all the reviews here, but since I already ordered, and my credit card was billed a day after, I decided to wait and see.
I found them on the web, but decided to call to order, because I wasn't sure about the product (it seemed to cheap for a brand new Minolta Dimage A2). They were quite pleasant, and did not push hard for additional products.
They gave me a confirmation number on spot, and said I'll have the package in 10 days (I wasn't in a hurry).
I got the package exactly 10 days afterwards, with all the items, but one mistake - the spare battery was normal instead of high-capacity. I am now demanding the 40 dollars difference back, and I beleive I'll get it.
One thing I'm not so satisfied about is the lack of confirmation by e-mail. I had to call 2 additional times before I got a confirmation and a tracking number, that confirmed that I'm not forgotten.
I read these reviews first and ordered by telephone rather than on line, this got the "confirmation" call out of the way at the start. The sales guy (Randall) was OK, but took the liberty of trying to bull***t me about why I needed to buy a CF card that was twice the price of the one I wanted (apparently the flashing LED next to the viewfinder doubles the size of the image file)!! Also got the standard patter about extended warranty - which I declined.
You will be extremely lucky if you get a tracking number. When I called first, I was told it would be e-mailed to me the next day and that my order had been shipped from their California warehouse (there's that bull***t again)!! A week later I still had no tracking number, so called and eventually got put through to the warehouse and was told the package was in Ohio and the courier (Airborne Express) could not deliver as my address was incorrect. My address was corrected, and miraculously the package arrived the next day via UPS!!! I checked the tracking number and found the package originated in New York (surprising as this is where this company is located!); no mention of CA or OH.
If you pay cheap you get cheap service. I don't think these guys are crooks, but make sure you do your research before ordering, so you know the bull when you hear it. They are in the business of making money, and as they sell so cheap thay have to try and make this up elsewhere - hence the "confirmation call" to try and sell you more stuff. This company's customer service is appalling, but you get what you pay for. The bottom line - Buyer Beware!
Well, I gave digitallydiscovered 2 weeks to credit my card, and they didn't do it. I files a dispute with Discover Card about 5 weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for the credit. I repeat, avoid these people.
The package arrived later than they promised and the camera did appear to have been out of factory packaging and handled (although they had sold it as a new camera). I decided to return it and am now 2 weeks into the return nightmare.
I too have spoken to Brian Peterson who is the supposed head of customer service. I swear he is the only guy who works in the place. Whenever I call, I get the same "we are experiencing high call volume" schpeel and he is the only rep to ever answer the phone. As others have stated, he is rude and the master putting people off with lines like - "I don't have your paperwork in front of me, call me on Monday", "I only process returns after 3pm, call me then", and "I never received that fax, send it again."
I initiated the return within the two week period. After sending and email and talking to Brian on the phone, I still had not received the requisite RMA number for a return. By that time, he informed me that the two week period had passed, and now I had to provide them with a money order for the initial postage and a 10% restock fee to be returned to an address which he refuses to specify until he sees a copy of the money order. Can you spell CROOK!
This is my frustration and list of complaints so far. I cannot comment on my full experience as they have yet to refund my money and I'm having doubts that they ever will.
If anyone puts together a class action lawsuit against these guys, count me in!!!!
