Digitallydiscovered.com Reviews & Complaints (30)

Place an oder on December 21st. Got a call on December 22 where they pretend calling to verify shipping and credit card info. When I called them they try selling me an extended warranty and a battery kit, which I declined. After declining the offer a few times the rep. finally told me that he was processing my order and that it would be ship the next day. Since no transactions had shown up on my credit card I called on the 31st. When I finally got somebody, I got put on hold and hang up on. I called back and they told me that my order had been cancelled because the camera had been back order for 2 weeks. So when I called on the 22nd the camera was already back order, but he never said anything about it. Then they said that they send me 3 emails, which I never received. I also check their website before calling on the 31st and the camera is available. So if you don't order any of their extra stuff they cancel your order. At one point when I was talking to the rep. on the 31st I could hear somebody making a background noice on the line, and the rep. was pretending that he couldn't hear me. Stay away from this store!!!

I ordered a camera dispite all the negative reviews and had the exact same thing happen as previously warned. I immediately got an email that I must call them regarding my order. And sure enough, he tried to get me to buy additional items. When I kindly refused he said okay have a great day, very rudely. Then I never heard anything else, until today when I called them to check my order status and he told me "WE cancelled your order that camera is no longer available". He also told me they emailed me which they did not. And he hung up on me. I wasted so much time on this order and should have listened to the reviews first. PLEASE NOTE this company is fraudulant. STAY AWAY!!!!1

My fiancé ordered the Canon ZR90 Mini DV as a Christmas gift for me. She selected 3 day select for shipping. It was purchased on 12/16/04 and we did not receive the package until 12/26/04 she told them that it was a Christmas gift and needed it before Christmas. The sales rep said it would be here before Christmas. They didn’t place the order right away and had her call to complete the order where they talked her into buying a second battery. This was on Friday the 17th they did not ship the product until Tuesday the 21st and the product was stuck in the storms in the mid west. But showed it would be here on the 24th it we were gone out of town at that time and did not get the package until the 26th after Christmas. When we opened the package wasn’t what she had ordered it was a “AA” battery charger and a battery not the camcorder and the battery. We contacted Digitally Discovered and received nothing but rudeness on the phone and they were very unwilling to help us with our questions. When asked when our order will be shipped to us they said when they receive the one back from us. We told them that we wanted it shipped to us now. The rep said that he’d put a rush on it. So we’ll see what happens with it now. WE WILL NEVER ORDER ANOTHER THING FROM THIS COMPANY AND I WARN OTHERS OF THIS COMPANY IT SEEMS LIKE A BIG SCAM TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regarding Your Order #49749
Date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 13:42:26 -0400

Hello, this is DigitallyDiscovered.Com contacting you in regards to the order you placed with us on the web. Please contact us at and ask to speak to Mickey extension 233. Please call during our business hours: Monday - Thursday 9:15am-8:00pm EST, Friday 9:15am-4:15pm Saturday - Closed and Sunday 10:00am-6:00pm. If I am not available when you call, you can speak to anyone else in our department Thank you.

Well, I called back and Mickey said that the camera was on backorder and that it will take an additional 10-15 days. So I waited the 10 days and called back twice. The first time they hung-up on me for asking why they could get my camera in stock. The second time they put me on hold for asking the same question.

I was never charged and I will never buy from them again. I bought the same camera from B&H photo for $30 more, but I know I will get it in a timely manner.

I ordered an Fuji A310 digital camera on the internet on december 17, 2003. On dec.23 I received pacage w/diferent camera (a lot cheaper). I shipped camera back for exchange and from this time I can not received my order yet. I called them 7 times and they gave me delivery dates that never came true. Their customer service department is a joke. After getting put on eternal hold, I finally got rude, lying "customer service" jerks. This is the worst company I have ever come across. I can't believe they are in business. I do not recomend any body.

I called this company on a Friday afternoon to check availability of a digital camera. I was calling on behalf of a friend who is visiting from the Ukraine who wanted/needed a camera for her visit. The representative confirmed that he had quite a few "in stock" and that shipping would be prompt on the following Mon./Tues.

We immediately ordered the camera online. The following Tuesday, I recieved an email that the camera was being shipped to Digitally Discovered from the "main warehouse" - (BS) - and that it would be an additional 7-10 business days before the camera would be shipped. This is leading to a delay of close to half of the visitor's trip before she receives her camera.

These folks have great career prospects politics. They evidently lied to me about the availability of the camera and the shipping date. I would not have ordered from them if they had been candid about the camera. I will not order from them again and urge extreme caution to anyone who does.

Best,

Mark Stein

I Ordered a PV-DV53 camcorder from Digitally Discovered on-line Dec. 10 Next Day Air. It took over a week for me to get the camera and they didn't even send it untill they cantacted me about an extended warranty for wich I ended up getting. Sounded like a good deal. The Camera came in a generic camcorder box, photo copied instructions and no serial #. Whats more it didn't work. I was able to get a RMA #, I sent it back at my expense and they sent me another camera that will not work. Now they do not reture calls, e-mail, or am I able to get a RMA#. It appears I'm out close to $400 with the shipping. Check ratings! Do not do business with thse people! I don't even have any info on my extended warranty to to get it fixed.

Update: Yesterday after been told first that the package was sent by Airborne Express from California all of a sudden the package was sent by the USPS via regular mail. I questioned why then the charge for overnight; after rechecking the package was already in Puerto Rico. Now the interisting part is that Customs is holing the package in VIEQUE (BOMBING RANGE ISLAND FOR THE US MARINES!!!!!!) When I tell the rep what this island is and that there is NO holding facility he could not answer. This is when I decided to cancel the order. It is quite evident that the package was sent nowhere. His reply to the cancellation is exactly what others have stated in this site: "We are the only ones carryin this camcorder. You won't get a better deal anywhere else". Gues what I found another place that will deliver guaranteed and the best part is that I saved over $100. Before purchasing by e-mail check for reviews. Digitally Discovered you SUCK!

I want to tell you, I read this site after ordering from Digitally Discovered, and I nearly had a heart attack.
I know my review is significantly different from the rest, so I'll describe my experience in length.
As I wrote, I was petrified after reading all the reviews here, but since I already ordered, and my credit card was billed a day after, I decided to wait and see.
I found them on the web, but decided to call to order, because I wasn't sure about the product (it seemed to cheap for a brand new Minolta Dimage A2). They were quite pleasant, and did not push hard for additional products.
They gave me a confirmation number on spot, and said I'll have the package in 10 days (I wasn't in a hurry).
I got the package exactly 10 days afterwards, with all the items, but one mistake - the spare battery was normal instead of high-capacity. I am now demanding the 40 dollars difference back, and I beleive I'll get it.
One thing I'm not so satisfied about is the lack of confirmation by e-mail. I had to call 2 additional times before I got a confirmation and a tracking number, that confirmed that I'm not forgotten.

I ordered the Olympus C-4000 Zoom Camera and paid for it and an extended 5-year warranty by credit card in late March ($379.99 total). During the following two months, Digitally Discovered sent me TWO incorrect(cheaper) Stylus Cameras which I returned with considerable trouble. I also received the warranty, but never received the Olympus C-4000 camera that I ordered. I was given numerous explanations why my camera had not arrived, including that it was sent and somehow returned back to them! After MANY phone calls and emails, they finally cancelled my order in mid May. I have also returned the warranty at my own expense. I am still waiting on a credit card refund which they have promised, but not yet delivered. I have been patient for two months, but am very frustrated and upset! I finally re-ordered this same camera less than a week ago from a competitor (also in Brooklyn) and have already received it!

I ordered my camera on 8/5/04 after reading other peoples experiences. I thought I would give ordereding over the internet a try for the first time. I was called that night by a customer service rep from Digitally Discovered. I explained to them that it was a bad time for me to talk because I was on my way out the door to a meeting and was running late. He said " Thats fine i'll just cancel your order then". I couldn't believe what I was hearing and so I took the time to let him know just how unprofessional he was. I asked him if he treated all his customers that way. He then stated that the UPS was there to pick up the camera which was all packaged and ready to go out. Then he said don't you want your camera. I'm just trying to get your camera out to you. He finished talking with me and said I would get my camera in 7-10 days and that I would recieve an e-mail with a tracking number within 72 hours. I never did recieve my tracking number or my camera. I called the company 3 times and was told that the camera was mailed out and I would get my tracking number by e-mail in a couple of days and to just be patient. These people were all rude and unprofessional. I would never ever again order anything from this company. They are very decietful and inconsiderate. I would rate there customer service, sales and company as a whole 0. When I fianally called a 4th time I was told that my credit card was denied because the information was not varified. This is a toltal crock. I don't know how a company like this stays in business.

Purchased a Canon S-45 and digital camera starter pack (256Mb CF Card, Spare Battery, Mini Tripod, Camera Case). Why use this company - I saved $180 on the recommended retail price of this camera!!

I read these reviews first and ordered by telephone rather than on line, this got the "confirmation" call out of the way at the start. The sales guy (Randall) was OK, but took the liberty of trying to bull***t me about why I needed to buy a CF card that was twice the price of the one I wanted (apparently the flashing LED next to the viewfinder doubles the size of the image file)!! Also got the standard patter about extended warranty - which I declined.

You will be extremely lucky if you get a tracking number. When I called first, I was told it would be e-mailed to me the next day and that my order had been shipped from their California warehouse (there's that bull***t again)!! A week later I still had no tracking number, so called and eventually got put through to the warehouse and was told the package was in Ohio and the courier (Airborne Express) could not deliver as my address was incorrect. My address was corrected, and miraculously the package arrived the next day via UPS!!! I checked the tracking number and found the package originated in New York (surprising as this is where this company is located!); no mention of CA or OH.

If you pay cheap you get cheap service. I don't think these guys are crooks, but make sure you do your research before ordering, so you know the bull when you hear it. They are in the business of making money, and as they sell so cheap thay have to try and make this up elsewhere - hence the "confirmation call" to try and sell you more stuff. This company's customer service is appalling, but you get what you pay for. The bottom line - Buyer Beware!

I ordered an Olympus D550 on their web site on Mar. 22. I received an Olympus LT105 Zoom film camera on 4 April (after the obligilory phone confirmation where they tried to sell me AA batteries for $50+ and a $120 128 MB SmartMedia card). A call to customer service yeilded "you have to submit it on our web site." Load of crap - don't pay any attention to that. I posted the problem on their web site, and got back a message that read: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to understand your last email. Would you like to return your merchandise for a refund or an exchange? Please advise. Thank you." Email, phone call, email, phone call. Finally got mad enough to just demand an RMA number over the phone; got one and returned the camera, with assurances that the correct camera would ship the same day. Guess, what, still no camera, and it's 21 April. I got the latest in a long line of "you'll get an update in your email this evening." If there's no update, this farce is getting cut short tomorrow. I talked to Discover the day after they sent me the wrong camera, and got assurances that they can kill the order without digitallydiscovered's help if need be. Avoid these crooks like the plague.

Well, I gave digitallydiscovered 2 weeks to credit my card, and they didn't do it. I files a dispute with Discover Card about 5 weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for the credit. I repeat, avoid these people.

I commented previously in a post below. A couple of days ago, I e-mailed customer service that if I didn't receive a UPS tracking number or a refund within 24 hours, I would take legal action. They sent the tracking number a few hours later and shipped the merchandise (digital camera & accessories) 2nd Day Air. I received my exact order today in excellent condition. However, I will never order anything from this company again, just too many hassels.

On December 10th 2004, I ordered a Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 with some accessories at Digitally Discovered (digitallydiscovered.com). I still have not received my order. After many phone calls to the company, they told me that it was out of stock and that I had to wait another 18 days. That is what they told me after 30 days! Therefore I cancelled my order but it appears that the money is taken from my credit card. $625!!! I have serious doubt if I get my money back. When calling the phone number from the site, I get an answering machine! If anyone has the same experience with this company and has an idea to fix the problem, please let me know ([email protected]).

I ordered a very expensive camera in the evening of the 15th. The sales person (Jerry) was very knowledgeable. After going through all the options with Jerry, I decided what I needed and wanted as far as accessories and placed the order. Jerry was very polite, friendly and helpful. My shopping experience was very smooth and relaxing. I received my order three days later. Everything intact and as expected. All items accounted for and packed properly. I'm very pleased with my shopping experience with Digitally Discovered. I will purchase from again.

I watched the posted pricing for the Fuji FinePix F700 by many retailers for several months before choosing Digtally Discovered for lowest price. After placing the order for the camera, advertised as in stock, I started receiving e-mail notices of delays in completing my order. In the meantime, the web site was raising the price on the camera and declaring it in stock. They had no intension of filling my order for the camera only at the low price, but would have done so if I had ordered their high-priced accessories (extra battery, flash memory card, charger) along with the camera. I cancelled my order and went with another vendor - after looking at ResellerRatings reviews on them.

I could go on and on with the top 500 Reasons NOT To Order From Digitally Discovered. Let's go chronologically . . . I placed the order for a Canon G3 online while out of state visiting family. I received two messages and an email saying they needed to discuss the order with me before they could process it. I called and was subjected to a 20 minute, high-pressure sales pitch on the great deals they had on accessories for the camera (an additional $500 in lens, adapters, battery chargers, etc). Thank God I passed on all of that.

The package arrived later than they promised and the camera did appear to have been out of factory packaging and handled (although they had sold it as a new camera). I decided to return it and am now 2 weeks into the return nightmare.

I too have spoken to Brian Peterson who is the supposed head of customer service. I swear he is the only guy who works in the place. Whenever I call, I get the same "we are experiencing high call volume" schpeel and he is the only rep to ever answer the phone. As others have stated, he is rude and the master putting people off with lines like - "I don't have your paperwork in front of me, call me on Monday", "I only process returns after 3pm, call me then", and "I never received that fax, send it again."

I initiated the return within the two week period. After sending and email and talking to Brian on the phone, I still had not received the requisite RMA number for a return. By that time, he informed me that the two week period had passed, and now I had to provide them with a money order for the initial postage and a 10% restock fee to be returned to an address which he refuses to specify until he sees a copy of the money order. Can you spell CROOK!

This is my frustration and list of complaints so far. I cannot comment on my full experience as they have yet to refund my money and I'm having doubts that they ever will.

If anyone puts together a class action lawsuit against these guys, count me in!!!!
