Alvio.com Reviews & Complaints (30)

First, let me say that I ordered from alvio.com before I read the ratings here. If I had read all the negative postings I would probably have paid more and ordered elsewhere instead.

However, my experience with Alvio was actually fine. I ordered a bare-bones system on Monday morning (very early). The system shipped the same day, and arrived at my home in Texas 3 days later. The order was handled properly and all equipment was delivered to me in good working order.

The only thing they didn't do which would have made the sale better was that they didn't email a tracking number to me when the system shipped. Still, same day shipping and a very good price made this a good transaction.

I purchased a complete system from Alvio on December 23rd and received it on 27th. Very prompt delivery. Once I received it and set it up everything was perfect. Then I have tried to install a game, obviosly I was doing something wrong and deleted windows. I called toll free techsupport line and a very proffecional tech guy helped me to reinstall windows over the phone rightaway. Never had a reason to call them again since then. Will buy again and recommend to everybody.

I purchased a bare bones XP 2200 system at the Dayton computer show.

I got the system home and found out it wouldn't boot. Should have made sure it was working at the show. They were very good at selling systems, but made plenty of mistakes when building them. For instance, they gave me the wrong case and video card. Got this squared away at the show.

I contacted customer service and spoke with Andrei K (extension 108). He is very nice and helpful. Any time I have spoken with people from this company they have been nice and understanding, especially when giving them "a chance to make it right".

Unfortunately my options for the system were to ship the faulty part and have them test it and send me a replacement, or charge me $35 if it wasn't faulty. I didn't want to ship it so I ended up driving to Cleveland to have it put together to my satisfaction.

It turns out the motherboard was NOT faulty, it was just missing some jumpers that were not put on properly by the tech at the show. Unfortunately, I had to drive to Cleveland to find out (about 2.5 hours from my house), but at least it is fixed now.

Shipping / return / replacement policies aren't the best. However, if they build you a system correctly and it works when you get it, you've saved some money and have a good system. If a mistake was made, you'll regret it for the hassle, but you can count on them to make it right.

GREATLY RECOMMENDED..... I have dealt with Alvio for over 3 years now. I have never had a bad dealing with them.

I have had wrong items shipped, BUT it was all taken care of very promptly with NO PROBLEMS.

I have had items that did not work, BUT it was all taken care of very promptly with NO PROBLEMS.

The warranty is GREAT and they do stand behind their products.

The tech support is very helpful and any time I need them they are there.... WITH NO PROBLEMS.

I deal with LEO on a regular basis and he is of the greatest help.

I order on a weekly basis and I have NO problems with ALVIO what so ever.

If you are a reseller like me, I would recommend ALVIO.

Thank Alvio for a Great Business.

Were should I start....hmmmm

I ordered 3 LABTEC, LT-825 Headphones, Wide, Volume, Retail. Thats fine, called the guy to see if they will ship out that day.. he said no it won't cause ups has picked up and will ship tomorrow.
That's fine, I will get them by Friday. Yesterday I got a e-mail right before closing.. It wanted a address before it would ship out. I couldn't reply back because it was closing time, but why would they want my address via e-mail when I filled out the order form on there site???? Whats the purpose of the order form if you are not going to use it?? They said it's to verify the address...DUH now how does that e-mail stop false info? hmmm? I called them about 10 times trying to get to customer service(less) and finally got someone. Talked to him about my order and he said he couln't do anything except charge me an extra 3.00 to ship it red 9next day air) so I could have it by Friday like it was supposed to be, or cancel the order and have a 15.00 cancelation fee??? WTF fee for something that I haven't got or even returned? I told him he should be the one shipping it next day air at no additional charge, sense they were the one who didn't ship it when it was supposed to. The other thing was when I was talking to him he put me on hold 5 times??? What for?.. hmm I guess to talk to his buddy's and give me so called excuses on why not to ship it on there account. Those customer serviceless people need to turn to the next chapter in there idiot guide to being a good business. He also told me that another option was to leave it the way that it was and it will get there by saturday. Boy wasn't that a lie.. UPS and Fedex don't ship on saturday unless you pay for the saturday service. His reply: We ship Airborne Express and they ship on saturday but the other person told me they ship UPS.. What they changed carrier. One lie after another, after another, after another. They are just a buch of incompetent people working just to get money and maybe ship your stuff in two weeks charging my credit card 3 days before they are shipping. A 2nd day shipment is now taking a week to get? I will NEVER buy from these people again.. NEVER... and I hope none of you guys will to. I hope they go out of business like they deserve. People like don't deserve a merchant licence. I should of checked this site before I bought from them but I forgot and thats my mistake. I'll let you people know if I ever get my stuff. Enough Said.... A very bad company.. My own rating -10 ro below..

I bought a barebone system from Alvio in May. Using their online configuration utility, I picked a chassis and motherboard combination. When it arrived, I was going to install my own components in it.
After about 2 weeks it came. The chassis has 4 external 5.25" drive bays, so I should be able to install 4 CDROM drives, burners, etc. However, I could only use the top 2 slots because the drives were hitting the motherboard in the bottom 2 slots.
So I continued to install my brand new equipment that I bought for this PC. Then the PC would only boot up about 30% of the time.I removed all of my items and tried again, thinking that I had a defective item that I purchased elsewhere. The problem persisted, and after much agita from the tech support person ( he told me to just hang the drives out of the drive bays, and to call the motherboard manufacturer, which I did to no satisfaction ), I finally got an RMA number to return this P.O.S. This was the week before July 4, and I am still waiting for my PC.
I would not buy from this company again, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Followup: After 2 weeks of waiting for them to 'swap' the motherboard and replace the case, I called to find out where by system is. I was told that they didn't have a replacement motherboard and RMAed the original to ABIT. I asked why I wasn't notified of this extra delay and was met with silence. We agreed to replace the mobo with an ASUS mobo, being that I didn't want to wait any longer. A week later the system arrived, and the mobo booted up OK and I could fit drives in all the drive bays.
But...no mobo manual and the incorrect mobo driver CD. So I called back up and was told that because I didn't return the ABIT mobo manual and CD, they would not send me the ASUS mobo and manual!! I didn't return the ABIT stuff because I was told that they were going to swap it out immediately. CAN YOU F###ING believe this!!?? You would think that they would send the manual and CD and ask me to return the ABIT stuff, because I no longer have any use for it. The customer service guy agreed to send it right out if I send out the ABIT stuff now. We will see who gets their stuff first.

2nd Followup: It is now August 11 and I still have not received my manual and CD. I sent the ABIT manual and CD by priority mail on the Saturday after I talked to Alvio and they received it on Wednesday July 30. I was told that they mailed out the CD and manual, but they must have gotten lost in the mail, and they will send out new ones. I will keep you posted on the progress of this sordid affair!

3rd Followup: Today is September 5, and I finally received the CD and manual that I should have received in July!! My advice is run as fast as you can from Alvio and never, never look back!!

Purchased an AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200 cpu from this company on March 30, 2010 through their eBay store. When the cpu arrived I installed it only to find that the chip was faulty - it would not boot up my system, and in fact damaged my motherboard beyond repair. When I contacted the seller through eBay about a refund, they refused to refund my money and accused me of damaging the cpu. I have made a claim with PayPal and am awaiting the outcome, but based on the rude and condescending emails I received from Alvio I would not recommend purchasing from this company. I know I will never buy from them again.

Product came on the estimated Fedex ship date, although slower than I would have liked (products ordered from another company on the same day, Sunday, and shipped on the same day, Monday, via UPS came 2 business days, 4 calendar days earlier). Received item (AS Mobile Whitebook chassis) basically as described although was pleasantly surprised to find that despite being described as "W/O optical drive" on Alvio's website that it in fact came with a dvd burner preinstalled, and also had a mini pci-express wireless card preinstalled so the extra separate Intel card sent along in the box was unnecessary. The whitebook box itself appeared factory sealed however the wax-based thermal pad on the heatsink was disturbed from previous installation of a CPU, so I had to use my own thermal compound on hand after cleaning off the existing pad. I do not know whether this was from Alvio or AS Mobile installing/removing another CPU previously, but there was an indentation from a CPU core in the old thermal pad that was made there by someone's doing. The company was very responsive and in fact called me personally to make sure I knew that I had ordered a notebook chassis without a CPU or other accoutrements. I would buy again and will recommend them to others interested in building their own whitebooks.

I worked with Misha... He is an upstanding man. He keeps his word and resolves any questions or problems quickly. The Hardware was well packaged. The price was great. I would recomend this company to anyone looking to purchase their parts or systems online. Make sure to ask for Misha when you call... I have been doing buisiness with Alvio for the last year. They are my #1 online goto for parts and systems. Thanks

I purchased a computer system in November and have still not been able to use it because it hasn't worked right yet. The first thing to go wrong with the system was the power supply, the computer was only on for about 20 mins and it burned out. After 2 calls, I finally got an RMA number and the power supply returned and a new one was sent back to me 2 weeks later. In the meantime I borrowed a power supply from a friend and the computer still would not even work seemed to be a problem with the motherboard, the problems are too numerous to list here so I won't go through that. I had contacted Soyo about the problem and they said to contact Alvio and try the memory that is recommended for the board which is Kingston. One thing I forgot, the memory I ordered was supposed to be Samsung except the memory I recieived from Alvio with the system was something I had never heard of before. So I talked to Alex (who is very rude) about Soyo's recommendation and got another RMA number, plus $7.50 and returned the memory in exchange for Kingston. Well, 2 weeks went by and no memory. Then it was 3 weeks, then I started calling costomer service; which they never answer their phone only have voice mail. After 3 voice messages left at customer service and still no return calls. Finally, I get home from work and there is a message from Igor (another rude man) to call him about my Kingston memeory, I call and he tells me it hadn't been sent out because they were waiting for a new shipment to Kingsotn memory to come in. Finally, a month to the day later I receive (I think it must have come by slow-boat) my new "Kingston" memory wrapped in static bubble wrap, I even have an invoice that says it is Kingston. It IS NOT Kingston, it's OVC. Okay, so now I have the new memory and new power supply. You wouldn't believe the computer is on for about 30 minutes and the new power supply (which by the way is only 300 watt, which I had originally had a 350 watt) burned out. Another call to Igor and he puts me through to tech which they act like they don't even know how a computer works. Of course they will not take the system back for a refund on my money after 30 days so my only choice is to have it repaired by Alvio. So now I had to add on a $44 UPS bill to ship it back to Alvio. The 3rd tech I talked to assured me it would come back to me in perfect working order. I REALLY hope it does. I am an accountant and depend on my computer for my job, luckily I have a friend who was kind enough to let me borrow his system.

DON'T, I repeat DON'T do business with Alvio; you will have nothing but problems and extra expenses.

UPDATE: 2/19 My computer has finally arrived at alvio and Jeff has "promised" me a 24 hour turn-around. Well, see......I'll update here to the progress.

After finding Alvio on accident, I ended up working with the best sales rep, "Serge". The entire ordering process, shipping and delivery process of our massive order was amazing. I can honestly say, for the first time, that there wasn't a single thing from start to end that i wasn't happy with. I plan to do business with Alvio.com Exclusivly from here on out. The order of computers i recieved where in perfect condition. The techs that built our computers (all 20 of them in under 2 days) didn't miss a thing. even the wires inside are tied back in the cleanest way i've EVER seen! Great job, alvio!

I first saw the ad for this computer at Pricewatch.com the ad is as follows: "Computer Systems - Kits Bare Bones Athlon XP 2000 Asus A7S333 DDR333,XP2000+ w/Heatsink 400w Front USB Case
$222 Shipping $15 48 States fully insured $270 Delivery Time 3-4 days" This ad is currently at www.pricewatch.com, Systems, PC-KIts, Bare Bones Athlon XP 2000, Page #5, the last listing on the page. I called Alvio and spoke with Frank in Sales, EXT 107. I added a 20 Gigabyte Western Digital brand 7200 RPM 100/ATA hard drive, a 15,000 RPM processor cooling fan, 256 Megabytes of 333 Megahertz PC2700 memory and for $15.00 more I received a one year extended warranty. This all totalled to $411.45. Frank told me at this time that I would receive this computer within 5 days of the date they receive the money order. I sent the money order "Next Day Air" on 7/3/02 and it was signed for on 7/5/02 by an Alvio employee. I called Frank on 7/9/02 in hopes that he would have a tracking number for me so that I could have an idea when the PC would be delivered. He told me that it had not been shipped yet and assured me that I would receive it in two days. On 7/12/02 I called their company in hopes that it by then would have a tracking number. Frank was not working and I was referred to Dan in Customer Service. He said that the system had not been shipped and would definitely be shipped no later than 7/15/02. On 7/16/02 (this morning) I called Alvio beginning at 9:06 AM CST. "All" of their voicemail message boxes were full and I could not speak with anyone or leave a message. I continued dialing until Dan in Customer Service answered the telephone at approximately 9:17 AM. He informed me that my order had been misplaced and again was not shipped. I told him that I was not very happy with their service and he assured me that my order would be shipped "within the next few days". Dan also informed me that the order number I received from Frank was not a valid number since it lacked letters prior to the numbers. When Frank issued the number to me I read it back to him for verification and he confirmed it was correct. I do not expect my order to be shipped within the next few days as he claims. It is now 7/19/02 and still no system. I have contacted the Ohio State Attorney General, the Ohio BBB, the Federal Trade Commission and the FBI Division of Internet Fraud to name a few. I recommend that anyone with a legitimate grievance against Alvio do the same. All of these organizations have online complaint forms that can be filled out.

Update: 7/23/02 I spoke with Dan yesterday in customer service. He sincerely sounded frustrated that my PC had not been shipped. He called me back and left a message on my voicemail that my system would be shipped out today and I should receive it no later than this Friday (7/26/02).

I performed a search in Google for their address, 4364 Cranwood Parkway. It is currently being used by four separate computer companies. AvaPC.com, MGEpc.com, AccuBuy Computers, Inc.,and Alvio Corp. Sounds kinda fishy to me! You might want to avoid dealing with any of these, since they are probably all one in the same.

7/29/02 Latest Update: This past Friday the system finally arrived. It was well packaged and UPS missed it's intended date of delivery (7/25/02) not Alvio's fault. The system was not DOA and once I finished setting it up on Saturday, it ran great. I still would not recommend anyone risk dealing with Alvio, unless you like eating broken glass or walking barefoot over a coral reef. Their web site looks nice but it doesn't work. I could never reach anyone there (no e-mail) and their Order Status box is a joke. No customer should have to work so hard to get what they have paid for.

I never had a problem with my computer in the past, but in the last year I have had a real problem with my modem/dial-up abilities. I contacted Alvio and I sent them the modem that was not functioning and they sent me a new modem right away. I then found out that the new modem was not functioning in my system. I finally had to sent the entire CPU unit to Alvio to make sure that the problem was not my motherboard. Come to find out after sending my system twice for an evaluation...they fixed the problem and now I have no more issues with my modem/dial-up.

Thank you Alvio.

I just purchased a system from these guys from a computer show in Harrisburg, PA on Saturday. The guy tried to upsell me a lot, but that's no big deal. They "guaranteed" me that the system would be built that night, burned in overnight, and ready for pickup first thing in the morning (again, no big deal to me).

However, when I showed up the next morning, the system hadn't even been built yet. I told them I wanted it, and told them to bypass installing XP on it, and I'd install it myself. I got the system home, and the motherboard was defective and wouldn't recognize the CDRW. I ran it back over to the computer show, and they threw in a new board and installed XP for me while I waited. Now it's working great, and I'm having no problems. It is new, so if I experience problems over the next couple days, I will update this post.

All-in-all, I'm happy so far. I got all name-brand components and everything appears to be working fine. I would probably order from them again.

Very Bad Merchant, a FRAUD!

Absolutely atrocious communication! BAIT & SWITCH merchant. Will not ship the mechandise detailed on the order confirmation obtained [invoice # ALV-12077] at time of transaction.

Leaves email message saying to call, then will not answer phone [morning, noon or night], does not use an answering device, and will not acknowledge nor return email messages.

9/30/07, ordered AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ processor. This is AMD's Athlon 64 top-of-the-line processor. 9/30/07, copy of order confirmation indicates AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ processor. 9/30/07, email confirmation is silent on mdse. purchased.

10/16/07, shipping invoice description and actual item received is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ processor. This processor is much slower [2.6 MHz Vs. 3.2 MHz] and has only one-half the on-board cache memory of the item I ordered.

There was no mention of shipping a different item, nor of any price differential, nor of a partial refund. No questioning if I wished a substitution - simply the shipping of a much less powerful processor than the one which I purchased. I guess they thought I wouldn't notice because of the similar Black Box and they would just pocket the difference.

I might chalk this up to a simple clerical mistake if they had only said they were sorry. Now, I know they really are sorry, A VERY SORRY MERCHANT!!! No apology, no offer of compensation and they tried to tell me the error was my fault! I d performed a GOOGLE search on "AMD 6400", then a product search on the results. I sorted by price and ALVIO was the least expensive. Also, the least honorable.

This company is apparently a fraud! Uses BAIT & SWITCH tactics! A Sham! BEWARE! Stay far, far away.

I'll probably need to cancel this transaction through my Credit Card company. Merchant states they catagorically refuse to ship the merchandise they confirmed on my order.

Since I cannot post the image of the order confirmation, drop me a line through RESELLERRATINGS.com, and I will provide you with a copy of the order confirmation. Then you may decide for yourself whether you want to use this sorry excuse of an on-line merchant, OR NOT! It will be your risk. Don't say you weren't warned.

Response to Alvio Reply:

You now admit the description was wrong? WOW, progress!

I did not know of your error when I accepted your purchase offer, placed my order and gave you my money. Neither the SKU nor the manufacturer's model number are disclosed on my order confirmation. But, even if they were, you seem to think that I should automatically know your SKU numbering system and the manufacturer's model numbers - well, I DO NOT. I search Google by description and I select merchants based upon a product description. I purchase "stuff" based upon descriptions.

You now say you erred, but you are still unwilling to make it right. A full refund would not offset my expense to quickly purchase the item in question at retail when you failed to perform under your contract. Since when does asking for the item described and ordered constitute a request for a free upgrade?

You tendered an offer. That offer was accepted and compensation was remitted. You accepted the compensation, but subsequently failed to deliver the item per the desription in the contract.

Buy.com is irrelevant to this conversation, but for the record; they apologized to me for their error and said they would ship the correct item per the given description under their satisfaction guarantee. I have not even received an apology from your company, yet; much less the item ordered.

I ordered the CPU on 9/30/07. You did not ship the item until two weeks later, on 10/15/07; and I received it on 10/16/07. I discovered your error and attempted to call the afternoon of TUESDAY, 10/16/07, and multiple times on WEDNESDAY, 10/17/07. These are hardly weekend dates.

We did eventually talk, and when I described your error, you stated there was no error and I had received the only item you entended to send. You then had your web-site updated and later attempted to tell me I had made the error. Obviously, you did not count on my making copies of the order confirmation and your original site offer.

If you really have a voicemail system, I suggest you trade it in on one that actually functions. From my experience, your voice-mail system mimics your integrity - there is no tangible evidence [to me] that either exists.

My initial warning to all considering a purchase from your company still stands. Based upon my experience, they will not receive what they order; if they purchase from Alvio!
