Ordered 7 jumbo bags of sand and agg from Oakham and asked for them to be delivered early on the day I had off work with hire equipment and slabs sorted from other suppliers. Hastened at 1430 but the phone rang out. At 1700 I chased again to be told the driver had been held up on another site and couldn’t deliver that day. Frustrated beyond belief as I used the more expensive buildbase for the order as they could make that delivery slot. Suppose I shouldn’t be surprised as I had a similar issue last time I ordered from them but at least that time I got the order late that evening after chasing.

I finished work early yesterday so I could get to the Wakefield branch before it closed at 5 o'clock. I arrived at 4.40 to find the gates being locked when I asked your employee what time you closed he said "errr about now" and continued locking the gates. Please don`t advertise that you close at 5 if you are going to lock the gates at 4.40 it is a waste of my time and a loss of trade for you as I had to go else ware for what I needed.

Ordered some bricks on 14th march by online. It's been 10 days and nothings arrived so called the bow branch to cancel the order. The guy couldn't find my order or order number and said I was probably Highgate branch. I said no, my invoice says bow branch. I asked for headquarters number and called them. I was angry as my money's been taken but no one's taking ownership of my order.

HR said the bow manager needs to issue a refund as transferred me back. I spoke to the manager and he did find my order but said my order got overlooked. I basically didn't get dealt with because the staff deal with telephone orders mainly and not online orders. How ridiculous for 2019!

So I asked to cancel it and he said he will call back in 5 minutes which he didn't so I called back after an hour. I wanted to know if it's been cancelled. He said it has but they don't know who should issue the refund- His store or HR! So they're figuring that out whilst I get stuck in limbo waiting for my refund. Sounds quite ridiculous really. Hello, visited Carluke branch today, 24/1/2019,with just a small order.The lady in the showroom/counter was wonderful but the yard staff were not! It was my first and last time I will use Buildbase. I run my own Lanscaping Business and have been trading for over 35 years and work all over the uk and have never been so called served by staff so ill mannered, even the so called yard manager. It was not just some of the staff in your yard it was everyone I approached about getting served!

Dreadful service from the Exeter branch of Buildbase, to cut a long story short, called for some brick prices and delivery timings but got a very rude response, the lady I spoke to was very disinterested, she took my name and number and said she'd look into it and call me back in an hour - 3 days later and no phone call.
Hopeless service. I won't bother calling again - useless.

Live near Manchester, working away from home in London. Needed to hire a breaker, over £70 /1day. When I arrived at peckham buildbase they would not hire it to me because I only had my driving licence and bank cards. They insisted on me producing utility bills as well!
I went to hss and there rate was slightly more than half of that price!! And they did not need a utility bill.

Went back to buildbase later that day, just needed one bag of postcrete to finish a job. Double the price in b&q.

Now there's a pattern forming here. The key word is double.

I won't be wasting their time again.

I have been visiting buildbase in Oakham for a while now but the office seems to be going very down hill. Every time I go in most of the office staff seem to be more interested in sitting on their mobile phones than attending to my
Business... not what I expect as a customer. There are plenty of them so I would expect faster service especially if I am between jobs and a customer is expecting me at an arranged time. The Young man Daniel whom I believe is the assistant manager is the one that always helps in the office, he seems to be incredibly proactive . If all the staff at oakham depot were all like this young man coupled with the helpfulness and enthusiasm of the Middle Aged gentleman on the forklift in the yard who is very friendly and always goes out of his way to assist me &
Attend to my requirements in the well organised and very busy yard. Surely staff should work together as a team And not just these two members of oakham staff. Senior Managment should manage this depot in a more proactive manner.
I always looked upon buildbase as a very professional company but Oakham depot please sort out the lapsed staff

I ordered 1 fence panel on the 18th March was told it would take a week for it to arrive ,the day before lockdown Buildbase rang to say the panel had a arrived but they could not deliver ,which I totally understand so agreed for deliver after the lockdown .For the 2 weeks I have been told 2 different delivery dates but they never turned up.I finally talk to someone who informs me that they have never had a delivery of my panel .Ive lost count how many times people at Buildbase have promised to ring me back .I eventually asked for a refund .Will not take my business there again and will tell my family and friends the same .The customer service is shocking .

I have to say that a young lady called Sam at newark build base is a credit to the company
She has dealt with 2 sales delays I purchased 1 on line and 1 by phone order during the covid 19 lockdown.
She does go above and beyond to meet customer needs even stayed late to accept a delivery from the supplier so I could have delivery next day
Give that girl and pay rise fast

Not happy at all with rushden site , got told a couple of weeks ago that due to reopening it will take up to take up to 2 weeks to deliver plumb slate 1 ton bag which i tottaly understood due to the situation but 2 weeks arrived no delivery nore phone call, rang the Monday after the 2 weeks to check to see where my order was to be told they will ring me back as they will check to see, waited about 3 hours no phone call so I rang back and to be told they don't have the stock even though 2 weeks ago they did so asked for a refund over £150 as it was going to take over 7 days for them to supply it to me they tock my details for the refund to be told it will take 5 days for them to process it , guess what I have no payment yet in my.account rang them up today to be told again they will ring back and guess what they didn't i rang them to be told they had processed it there end and said they were going ring the accounts to see what's going on as it should be in there they said they would ring me back they didn't they Also said they would send an email to me today showing they had processed it their end and guess what no email ,
Quick enough to take the money but my god what and woeful customer after service in trying to get my money back .

Build base Rushden Northamptonshire first time I used your site in rushden as it is local and thought to surport local places but I'm afraid I will not be using you ago ,
Please could I have my refund which you are holding on to and some advise please don't say we will ring back and never do .

What a great customer service experience from two counter guys (Chris & Sam) Both engaging & polite all the time I've been down there. Having dealt with others merchants in the area...I've gotta say I've never felt so looked after! Always help me with any queries etc. Due to recent health issues & not being so mobile they always help me carry what material I've required to my vehicle when needed also! Great work guys

I have now been contacted after making a fuss on Facebook. Finally my shelf will be made and will be ready in eight days.

Honestly, after sales service is hopeless: as is getting anywhere with this group. Maybe fine if you are a tradesman with an account but for the humble public I'd suggest sticking with a retail giant like B&Q or Wickes. All I want is a missing shelf to a Sheraton kitchen they provided in my new home. You would have thought I asked the world by daring to go into one of their shops to order a shelf: yep that was all a shelf for a 60cm unit: I wanted the matching carcass colour or else I would make one out of any laminate board. Promised me a call same day with a price, NOTHING. Messaged them via FB, NOTHING.

Well, I had hoped to give them some significant business for our further building works: guess again Buildbase. But you don't care, that is how you function, you know the builders will use you for materials: yep, you rest on your laurels and offer poor service to the public. Why not just put up a big sign 'TRADE ONLY!!!!'

Rang and ordered three sheets of reinforcing paid and told delivery end of the week- received a call advising lorry couldn't deliver as its 26 tons despite Buildbase delivering here before, refuse trucks ship lorry's and cement wagons accessing the road here with no problem. now waiting for Friday.
now getting it delivered down the road and carrying it home - and told no more deliveries to this post code
*** Update having waited all morning for a delivery 2 weeks after it was ordered telephoned the branch phone rang out twice on third attempt was told driver at lunch - cancelled delivery and will find somewhere who may remotely show an interest and who may actually be able to deliver the goods.
*** Even better - 10 minutes after ringing the depot went outside and found 3 sheets of reinforcing and a Driver I asked where his lorry was and he said parked down the road as the Depot had told him to do "I don't know why, I drive up these roads all day long "
He had just finished the morning drops and mine was last as it was on the bottom of the load - really nice bloke and he had carried the three sheets up the road - so alls well that ends well only hope I get that driver again.

We spent 17,000 on a kitchen 14 out of 25 units arrived damaged, key wall of units didn’t fit as designer had measured wrong so design not capable of being fitted, over three weeks delay, they ordered a single oven rather than double oven unit, left hand opening cupboard rather than right so you couldn’t physically get into it, designer only came out once at the insistence of my fitters, no instructions given on how kitchen went together - absolute disaster - do not use under any circumstances. Designer has also been proven to have not told truth

I was deeply impressed with the efficiency of the system at Shrewsbury Branch.

Just spoke to stevie at whitburn buildbase who has no customer service at all i placed an online order with them yesterday evening everything was fine online no problems, no mension of any delay and the payment of £410.71 was taken from my account there and then, i thought great thinking it would get delivered end of next week or thereabouts then i recieve an email saying due to high demand my delivery would be till friday the 29th of june which didnt make any sence to me as the 29th of june is actually a monday so i called to speak to a colin jack and ended up with this stevie when i procedeed to tell that there was no mention of a delay on the website and the money should not have been taken from my account before the order was processed, i was told it was not him that took the money from my account and did i want a refund to which i replied yes and the phone was then put down on me what a great advertisement and sales rep for buildbase and thank you for leaving me waiting for my £410.71 money that i need to order my materials elsewhere i will never use or recommend buildbase ever again

Build base Banchory Aberdeenshire Ordered 6 1ton bags of red granit chuckies and arranged delivery at 0800 . Lorry turned up bang on time and managed a great job of offloading into my garden with out holding up the traffic . Great job as not easy delivery .

Promised AM delivery 2 men waiting to help with delivery finally arrived at 2pm after various telephone calls no explanation regarding the problem. Third phone call was told a driver off sick so delivery would be late ! Told now driver was on Taco so would have to wait arrived short of order. No explanation given at the time.
Now waiting for the completion of the order although I have paid for the full amount Customer service appalling !!!!

Went to our local Alford branch to order a new kitchen, this would have been about 3 1/2 weeks ago now. Gareth was on holiday so could we contact him next week. Contacted next week on the Monday morning and he made an appointment to see us on the following Thursday. (his timing not ours). He came to see us and we told him what we wanted. Didn't seem to want to try and fit in with our ideas. Told my husband that he would have the diagrams or whatever with us the following Wednesday. We are STILL WAITING. Husband called in last Friday and was told he was out delivering a door and that he wouldn't be in on the Saturday but would DEFINATELY be in this morning, Monday. Guess what, he was not in today. Husband told the person in the shop that we would go elsewhere. Meanwhile we have wasted nearly 4 weeks. Buildbase have lost several thousand of pounds worth of business as we were not only after new units but appliances as well. We also need new bathroom fittings but will be going elsewhere.
