I've been a member since 2006 and in the last month I've spent over $300 because I saw that the site was picking itself back up from the crash it had a few years ago and I wanted to support them. And then they suspended my trading pass / marketplace store because of "Suspicious payment activity". Fair, it's to prevent fraudulent payments and a possible hacker. But it's been over three days, the charge on my card has already gone through and I've already paid for it. My pass is still suspended. I've emailed customer support and have not gotten a single reply. That's so rude, especially to a supporter. They try to shove premium items down your throat so that you'll keep shoveling more money, and then they block you and refuse to reply to you. I'm not supporting them anymore.

I'm back from a... 5 year(?) hiatus. The last I played was in the early zOMG days, and I stopped playing for natural reasons; growing old, university got in the way, etc. I didn't stop because the site was bad or stale. Basically, I got a sudden nostalgia trip and I was wondering how dear old Gaia has turned out in those 5 years. I was crossing my fingers that they managed to survive these past few years, that's how much I loved the site back then. So I log in with my old username, and lo and behold it worked! Excitement turned into dismay, however, when I saw that absolutely nothing of note has changed, at least with the interface. It looks old. Nothing new to pull in users. The interface is still as clunky as it was. And then I saw what had happened to its economy. 1 GC= 50 BILLION Gaia gold. When I stopped playing 50 billion was a god send. Now it seems like its worth absolute trash! What happened? What is the site doing to save itself? I can't fathom people spending ten dollars IRL for one new monthly item. It's pixels. All I'm seeing now is a site that could care less about what users it has left, and doing nothing to bring in new ones.

A total rip off!! Was very dissatisfied when after the free month trial, was not charged a monthly fee, but for a yrs worth. Did not want a yrs subscription and there is NO customer support when I signed into my acct to try to resolve this issue. Theres community support and automated responses. I have emailed several times and only received automated responses. They are hoping that you wont persue the headache towards resolution.

Gaia was my home, community, place of creative writing, artistic expression, silly banter, and in-depth discussion. It was my safe place in a violent storm of home life. I made the first real friends from all around the world, we would talk for days and nights. Spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars to support the site. From the humble beginning of letters in the mail to the current pledges and plea drives. And I did this at my detriment as poverty has been living only in later adulthood have I moved into the lowest of the middle class. I hold centrist views, the left and right extremists which the site has become is too much and because I refused to be word policed in pursuit of discussion. People are becoming afraid to speak anywhere on the site unless they are lgbtq+ or any other popular sjw activist buzz word today. They abuse the TOS's poor language, in such that it can easily be abused by for example. You don't like what a user said, it doesn't have to be directed at you or anyone, could be hypothetical thoughts or devils advocate or just a different opinion. BAM they mass report you for trolling or intentionally flaming. That's right, your genuine opinion not even directed at anyone and in no way violent. A neutral opinion can be considered trolling and flaming. But it's ok for 30+ threads from ED,GD,CB,SF,GCD,NF. All saying "$#*! whitey" "$#*! Cissy or cishet" "support the riots" "pronouns or gtfo" etc. Will be there everyday, supported. So don't bother thinking you have roots there. Don't spend any real money because you do not own any right to the exchange and can lose it to a hack or scam or ban anytime. Moving items to another new account is considered ban evading and will lose you that account as well. I had 3 completely separate accounts, 2 never said a word on them. Banned and deleted over the course of a day. They are investigating and tracing IPs. I even used a vpn. Yet known pedophiles are protected and users face bans for investigating suspected users. It's become a very dirty scammy $#*!ty place. No one gives a $#*! about you, especially the site and staff.

I've only watched three series, Gregg Braden's Missing Links, Joe Dispenza's series Rewired and Dr Sue Morter's The Healing Matrix and I found all the content here quite informative and uplifting. I only watch tv before bed and feeling inspired through these programs helps me to sleep better than when I am watching Netflix.

Gaia has made a lot of terrible decisions in the last few years, it's true. However, I also see them making an effort to turn things around in the more recent past. Lake Kindred has become a good way to earn gold and items without having to spend a lot of cash. They've recently done a series of surveys, asking for feedback about different features. There are still things to complain about, which is why I don't give it 5 stars. It's getting better, though.

Well. Gaia has hit a new low. I didn't believe was possible... Even for them. I saw with my own eyes an GaiaOnline Administrator on Site Feedback, of all places. The section of the site where your suppose to be allowed to give criticism of ideas users submit. And they decided to reprimand users for speaking out against wanting proper pronouns to be placed on the forums. My only advice to anyone that is left who is still using this site and you have conservative views, or you just don't lean left when it comes to things like political correctness? Get out! Just leave now! Because there is nothing left for you here besides head aches, heartbreak, and disappointments.

What was once a great anime discussion/dress-up doll site from the early 2000s has now devolved into a wasteland of begging and lootboxes. The magic that this site once held has long since faded. Rampant inflation, multiple changes in management (each worse than the last) and the loss of a large percentage of its userbase has led to Gaia being on its last legs. Only the most hardcore fans and nostalgic users are still around any more. Unfortunately, this has also lead to a dip in moderation and safety on the website. Gaia is a 13+ website, but it's well known that younger users frequent it. These two things, combined with the aging population of older users, has lead to some very obvious, very dangerous situations. Certain faster and less moderated forums will often see open sexual activities in large topics, with the offending posts drowned out from obvious view by a handful of users bumping the threads for money. To call Gaia a breeding ground for pedophiles is to call carborane acidic. The only positive here is that the site itself with its dated appearance, hyperinflation and hostile forums will keep some of the more vulnerable users away. Still, it is definitely not a site that you should let your children access. Be extra careful if you see them using Gaiaonline.

0/5. Things are different from how they were years ago. They will ban you even if you didn't break ToS, some people have been banned for expressing ideologies because the mods don't agree with them. They beg for money and support instead of offering up anything new. What's worse, they will NEVER get back to you. The wait times to hear back from moderators is 3+ months, and you will be sent the same automated mails, never hearing from an actual person. If you attempt to contact a mod, you will be led on a wild goose chase of who to speak with, and sometimes, they will get snippy with you, even if you conduct yourself kindly and professionally. I wasted 5 years of my life on this website beyond 2013; one good thing did come out of it, as I met my fiance on there. Dreadful people, I really hope the site shuts down so they stop scamming people out of money in order to fund their new porn site. If you make art for people on the website, you will be expected to negotiate offsite, or only accept their digital worthless currency. All that's on there now is thirsty, "Am I pretty?" Crying teenagers, and perverts.

In January 2019, I purchased a year's subscription to Gaia. After two months, I requested to terminate my subscription, by which I meant to pay the full per-month price for the first three months and have the balance, approximately $70, returned to me. Gaia has indicated that they will not refund the money, and that I am forced to retain the year's subscription.

I will not begin talking about the gold situation and cash-milking that the players have to go through in order to enjoy anything since it's already been pointed out. I started on 2007 beaucse of my friends and stayed until 2015, until I was banned for telling the mod, after warning me for spamming, the following words: "My post on the forums was not spam." I had years worth of gold, items, and expriences taken away from me for nothing. Such a thing would not have happened before the company was sold to the new owner. To sum it up, Gaia-online has become a terrible place to browse. Gold is worthless and it's practically impossible to get new items unless you pay, holiday events come out late and never reward you properly, games are broken, features get taken down in favor of sponsored games and things go quickly down hill. Mods are biased and TERRIBLE at moderating anything. Type "banned on gaia online and i don't know why" and you will find an absurd amount of results. Stay away from that $#*!ty website. In the beginning of gold generators and item flooding, the website made more money than the normal -- but their economy will fall soon enough once money would be the main essence of the game.

Only got to watch one video and decided to cancel after my trial. I canceled my subscription but they still charged me, I assumed I did it wrong so I canceled again and took the payment as it was my fault. Eventually I figured out it STILL didn't work so I contacted their support, which is BS, took them forever to reply and they replied with how to cancel I informed them I did that twice. Then I recieved no reply after that. So I tried to cancel again! Still it was. charging me! Attempted to reach out AGAIN and nothing, I eventually had to report them for FRAUD to my bank and get a new debit card! RIDICULOUS! So I give them a one star for being so MONEY HUNGRY and ignoring my many attempts to make it right!

I got a notification my other review was helpful, so I decided after quite some time, I would go back to see how much it changed. I went to see if you could go to the town now, but you still couldn't! The town was supposed to be available almost 4 months ago! This is a TERRIBLE game!

Good site with fun games to play and lots of nice people to meet. I also like the pixel art and the regular art from the artist & members. The only bad things is the inflation, customer support(filing tickets takes forever), and games not being updated or being worked on. Tip for noobies crying about inflation: make some mules(other accounts) and dumpster dive every 4 minutes. People are so rich that their dumping items worth millions. If you don't like the item sell it and buy the items you like. Also stop complaining about them being greedy. Gaia needs money to keep the site running and to pay their employees. I wish Playdom had sales like this, but they didn't and closed most of their games in less than a month.

Gaia lost its way but started moving forward again. I've been a member on Gaia since 2007. I've survived an unfair ban (never got an answer for why but I built a bridge), inflation, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, what not. I'll admit that for a few years Gaia went downhill. It almost caused me to quit and I had even started looking at other websites. After the site was sold off (Lanzer leaving because the site wasn't making enough revenue), the members who decidedly stuck around found that they basically became cash cows. Cash sales and cash shop updates were shoved down the throats of every person who logged on. Every. Day. Without fail. Gaia changed with one wrong decision and things kept going downhill from there. The forums turned into chaos. Outrage was unanimous with the community and things got so bad that some members even started threatening the lives of Gaia Staff, which is deplorable. Not only that but the marketplace went bad too. Inflation is pretty terrible right now and it's very difficult to make gold. Unless you were already rich or buy gaia cash, which a lot of members aren't. It's still very difficult to make gold without buying gaia cash. Staff did attempt to communicate with the community throughout all of this happening though. They held Ask The Staff, asked for feedback concerning different things. They also released a new game called Lake Kindred, which is essentially like Pokemon. Which you can play to earn money, it's also possible to earn money without spending Gaia Cash through that game. Which is what I personally use to make money. Gaia did lose a lot of its members with the recent changes but those who stayed did get to see something good happen for once on Gaia. This past December, the Gaia community saw hope again. A light at the end of the tunnel. Lanzer returned to Gaia. And with his return, the management team who took over in 2014 left. There are still some things that need to be fixed but I'm confident that with Lanzer's return there will be progress. This is enough for me to keep me going on this website. "This is my family. I found it all on my own. It's little and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good."

I was abused by both the staff and a role-play group on this site. The staff tried to tell me they, and this group role-play, weren't abusing me. Uhm. That's not what my psychologist said when I told her what was said about me and I think she would know more than the staff that was trying to mistreat me. No, this is not one of those "you deserved what they said, you just had a hard time admitting it" situations. I was tired of people telling me I wasn't bright enough to do anything. And to accuse me of not writing more than 6 sentences is an insult to my IQ. So I failed in school completely, according to them? So I didn't get an A on the some page essays I wrote in High-School or college English? Yes, I have writing credentials. That's BS. First, I didn't get any warnings. But they didn't handle a situation I brought to them like they should have and my psychologist has a thing or two to say about it. Mind you, I was very honest with my counselor at what was said and she replied with, 'so you were abused.' Telling me I can't write more than 6 sentences is an insult, it's condescension, and condescension is a form of emotional abuse and all of this can be proven. Then it's humiliation bringing that up in front of everyone. Not to mention, if you honestly think I don't understand what the reason was before you explained it, you really don't think I'm bright and that's disrespectful. If you're telling me things my abusers told me in the past, it's indeed abuse. I'm just choosing not to go into too many details on this review. But I'm willing to share on an individual level with people who want to know. People shouldn't have gained up on me like they did without knowing what really happened. I was tired of being told I wasn't bright enough to do stuff and I can prove that.

i did the .99 try out and it didn't work into my schedual so i was going to cancel and forgot so i paid for the next month so that was on me. i cancelled my subscription online at that point on the first week of january and didn't think of it again until the next month. i was charged again so this time i called their customer service line. i got a girl on their who was sharp and not very curtious and it went downhill from the moment i said i was upset to get charged after cancelling. SHE GAVE ME A LECTURE ON THIS IS A REVOLVING CHARGE AND IT SAID THAT WHEN YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE SERVICE. (excuse me?!?) when i went to reply, she hung up on me!!!!! OMG from a yoga and meditation site are you kidding me? after this i'm convinced that all they want is your money.

Fun for the longest time, then you crash on it. The users are...Just don't bother, The clothes and avatars are amazing, nice forums, bad games and towns. Also, the "Manga" is stupid! Try it, you'll love it....for a fre months or a year or so.

I tried them 4 months ago and after 1 trial month of .99 and then one for $9.95, decided to cancel. Fine and no billings for 3 months, then out of nowhere they hit my paypal with a random bill, which went to a checking account I no longer use and bounced. I can't reach anyone because of course there is no phone number. Only an email complaint system. I just filed a paypal case so hopefully that will work. But who does that months after a cancellation????
