We've been using 1cover for the past 5 years. I found prices to be competitive and easy to navigate on line policy manager. Taking out new travel policy has always been easy ...Until we had to claim and cancel current policy. So over 5 years and 20 policies later and no claims, it was all good until they had to pay us something back. Firstly they rejected phone repair, even after I complained and asked for it to be considered for loyal customer as gesture of good will. I understood phone screens were not covered but circumstances how it actually happened were not taken into the account. The easiest thing was just to refer to policy wording and say: sorry you are not covered, not a slightest attempt to “look after the loyal customer”. We also have current policy for travel to Japan. It was totally useless in every sense when it came to covering cancellations with flights and accommodation this is the reason why you take insurance cover isn’t it! And this was paid for in Sep 19 yet total exclusion with COVID 19 pandemic that somehow we should have anticipated. So I tried to cancel this cover but phones are disconnected. And no way of cancelling on line. I emailed first two weeks ago, before our travels so that I can get a refund. I emailed reminder again week ago but never got any reply cover is still active. We should have left 3 days ago so I’m not even sure if I'll now get my refund. However, I can see here that they have staff available to reply and praise 5 star comments. Good to see that you have your priorities right 1cover! They had chance to do something for us and offer some sort of compensation, now they lost loyal customer and got 1star rating. They way 1cover handled this pandemic is very poor and I would not be surprised this company goes under. Many other insurance companies rouse to the challenge, 1cover flopped! Never again for the sake of saving few $$...bye bye

I thought my travel was going ahead and it won't be affected, so, I bought the premium insurance (around $700), however, 10 days later I found my flights were cancelled, so I decided to cancel my travel insurance as Why should I pay if I can't even use it?! So I tried to call them many times to cancel it, spent over 1h waiting on the phone for many times and none has ever replied to me. After sending many emails, and 12 days later, now they reply to me saying I have no right to get a refund due to being after the 14 days cooling-off period?!

Guess what? I did ask to cancel before the 14days, but NONE has ever replied me?! Now I have no money to pay even for my food/rent and now they want me to not get a refund? It most be a joke!

Do not rely on them, they just want you money!

we have used 1cover travel insurance several times over the years and we are very happy with the way we have been dealt with, our cruise to singapore in april was cancelled due to the covid19, like almost all travel insurance our policy was declared null once covid19 was declared by the world health organisation. it is almost impossible to speak to a customer service person, i think mainly due to the number of calls they are getting so i decided to email 1cover asking if there was no claim would they at least reimburse the premium we paid to get our travel cover. i received a recorded email almost immediately telling me my email had been received and we would hear from 1cover shortly, 3 weeks later we have received our credit voucher for the full amount we paid which i think is fair enough. i realise the insurance industry as a whole could not pay out vast amounts of money as it could ruin the whole travel insurance industry we rely on for cover. we will also be receiving future credits from the airlines, cruise company and hotel accomadation in singapore, we have in the past had reason to make a claim on 1cover and found them to be helpful and prompt in taking care of our claims, that is why we always use 1cover travel insurance

We bought a travel insurance policy last July for a trip to Italy in April 2020. Despite attempts to call and emails before travel dates requesting cancellation and a refund, no response received, apart from automated emails. We had taken out out a separate policy in March with Good2Go travel insurance which we later cancelled and received a full refund after only 1 week. We have used 1Cover many times in the past but never again

I purchased comprehensive travel insurance on the 6th January 2020 for a 6 month world trip, prior to any knowledge of Covid. The cover cost $735.01. I made no claims during my travel, even when I lost money on flights and accommodation during my travel due to Covid restrictions and had to cut my trip short by 4 months and return to Aus. I still did not try to claim on any of those losses as 1Cover states in their policy that pandemics mean that they do not cover any claims. Which I believe is theft in itself.
The real problem here is, many other travel insurance companies have refunded any unused travel premiums to customers in good faith, knowing there’s no way customers can travel, and so there’s no need for insurance - or for insurance companies to keep those unused premiums. The ACCC has urged all insurance companies to jump on board and do the same.
I have contacted 1Cover countless times and have been sent to their automatic phone system saying lines are busy. I haven’t once been able to speak to a representative. I have emailed and only just received an email reply today stating refunds are not possible after the 14 day cooling period.
I’m disgusted, disheartened and upset that a company as large as this one, could do this to their customers at a time when everyone is really struggling. It is theft, it is immoral and I’ll be making absolutely certain that this information is spread as far and wide as it possibly can. There’s no doubt in my mind that this choice of 1Cover during this pandemic will not be forgotten and certainly will catch up with them.
To the people sitting at the top making these calls, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Dear 1 cover , Australian consumer law stipulates that companies must not accept payment for services if there are reasonable grounds for believing they will not be able to supply those services . As government has banned departures and airlines have canceled flights you are unable to provide a travel insurance service . Best you refund all those policies that haven’t and won’t be leaving the ground . You could have offered credits earlier and most would have taken it but now people can lawfully demand a refund and unfortunately your reputation is in tatters. You had plenty of opportunity to do the right thing by customer’s , especially those that were loyal . I guess greed reared it’s head in the boardroom , a brain fart never smells good.

We booked travel insurance for our USA/Canada trip beginning 28 May but of course had to cancel due to the coronavirus. Have sent five emails requesting cancellation and return of major portion of funds, but haven't received a reply. This despite using them for our last ten trips and not submitting a single claim. Makes us suspicious now that had we claimed in the past we wouldn't have received any sort of response. Will not be using them in the future that is for certain.

I took out comprehensive travel insurance in mid February costing nearly $1000. It soon became clear we would have to cancel the trip due to COVID-19, so just 28 days after purchase I asked to cancel the insurance considering the circumstances. 1-Cover said no because it was past the 14-day cooling off period. All they offered was to move the start date to within 12 months from purchase date and I had to advise them of the new dates by 14 May 2020. It was completely impractical to do that since we don't have any idea when borders will reopen and we will be able to travel again, so I am now unable to use the policy.

1Cover please reconsider and provide credit valid for 18 months as you have for others. Last six digits of policy is 2582037.

This useless insurance cover will pull out all excuses not to pay out a claim
In my.case using a pandemic clause
But my trip was 3 week before the W.H.O
Declared it so. March 11th
So don't use this company they are no good. Happy to take your money
