I researched the Diploma of Counselling study options and found AIPC course ticked all of the boxes for me. I live in regional NSW and online distance learning with face to face practical assessments were key criteria. ACA recognition was also important.

I have found the study material comprehensive, very well structured and presented. Written assessments were turned around very promptly. Marker assessments and comments have been positive, supportive and encouraging.

I wanted a course I could study at my own pace, wanting to complete it under 12months. The staff in the Brisbane/Carina study centre have been wonderfully helpful and supportive in arranging practical assessment times that support my study progress and the long drive to Brisbane each time.

I've observed that men undertaking the course are in the minority and was initially a tad intimidated by that. Again, the staff at the Carina study centre have been very encouraging and supportive.

Overall, a great course and worth the effort for personal learning and insight if nothing else.

I am very satisfied with the teaching and course content of the Diploma in Counselling at AIPC. The structure of course content gives the learner the opportunity to explore teachings in an incremental way. I found this valuable as it allowed me to build on knowledge slowly and minimises any sense of being overwhelmed with information. It is also helpful when you need to go back and review information! The practical component is wonderful. The assessor's are very skilled, helpful and approachable. The team at AIPC Carina are ever friendly, caring and supportive of you and your journey towards being a Counsellor.

I am very happy with the Diploma of Counselling with AIPC. I started when my daughter was a baby and decided to do it self-paced to avoid putting too much pressure on myself with work, 2 children at school, a baby at home and a husband who travels for his job. I am so grateful for this option as it allowed me to challenge myself but also go at a rate that suited my circumstances which, as any parent would know, change day to day, week to week. At the beginning of each unit I would break it up into weekly bites and write a time table out for myself for what I wanted to achieve each week until I completed the unit. This helped me stay on track but also in control of how much was on my plate. The staff are extremely motivating and always cheered me on. Practicals were excellent and I gained much wisdom attending these. The content in each unit is very interesting. The one thing I wish for would be a connecting by AIPC between students and local organisations to volunteer and gain real life work experience. I can of course reach out myself and intend to but to have the organisation hook that up for us would be so helpful in creating connections and experience and building our confidence even more. Overall I highly recommend this course as an intro to counselling and an excellent foundation to build on.

I have just started unit 3 and the support has been outstanding so far.
Pippa Spibey was an amazing support for the practical assessment in Perth.
The focus was on creating a learning and supporting environment rather than feeling questioned and "forced to perform" This approach opened up channels for great learnings and reflections.
Well done!

I wish to thank all the AIPC staff, whom over the years have been very supportive. Having for most part a fly in -fly out job/s I have at times struggled with the diploma. The staff have been very supportive during my learning experience. I also wish to thank my practical assessor Jennifer Perino, who's wealth of knowledge was able to set me up with a solid 'toolbox' for my current position with the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern as an AOD counsellor.

I have commenced the Diploma of Counselling with AIPC and have completed 3 units and 2 practicals in a few short months.
What strikes me most about this course is that the skills being learned are practical and valuable. You can visualise and understand how what you are learning will be put to use.
I strongly encourage anyone that has been putting off applying to step out in faith and start. Once you start, you will see the value and not want to stop.

December 10th 2018 Update: Two More Practicals Done!

I have just finished two more practicals. I encourage anyone who is putting them off to jump in and go for it. Attending the group seminars has been more beneficial than I ever expected. You learn as much doing the practicals yourself as watching others do them. I have used these new skills in the short week following the practical days and cannot recommend it enough. Thanks Ken for being such an encouraging flexible mentor.

As a Therapist and based at home with my own business, after much research I found the AIPC online course to be the best alternative to furthering my career as a Counsellor. Financially affordable and self paced I found the content of the course to be extremely well balanced and precise. I found the practical sessions to be very heart centred and with a genuine holistic approach. I would also like to express my appreciation for the valuable support from the professional team in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. I have no hesitation in recommending the AIPC to anyone who wishes to follow their passion and desire to become a Counsellor.

review by Song Hi

My dream and passion to become a counsellor was planted approximately 30 years ago. I experienced detours along the way; marriage, children, career and financial security and life in general. It was not until I was in my 40s that opportunities presented themselves to make my dream into reality.
I’d completed an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Family Therapy qualification, studying online in 2009. I then operated a part-time private practice for approximately 5-6 years. Private practice can be challenging. At times it made me feel like I was alone on an island due to absence of co-workers to debrief with or offload to. Supervision occurred, but it was not the same. Online study can be challenging too and you need to be disciplined with your time and motivated to keep going, at risk of procrastination. I’d gained a Masters qualification in procrastination, which I identified, through supervision and counselling, was a fear of failing to achieve my dream. AIPC provide valuable tips and support through their staff and lecturers if procrastination are one of your required growth areas.
I decided to up skill to a Bachelor of Counselling (BAC) with AIPC following feedback and unsuccessful attempts to acquire employment in organisations. It was a necessity to continue paid work, therefore AIPC BAC online study option was perfect for me.
Yes, I experienced highs and lows, major procrastination, doubt and lack of confidence also crept in. I considered quitting and deferred semesters due to personal commitments. The flexibility and non-judgemental understanding from AIPC staff, when deferring, was appreciative and motivated me to keep going to complete my degree. This motivation was vital as I was stretched to achieve higher standards by the lecturers, which I now appreciate and acknowledge was necessary to prepare and equip me when I began my journey in the counselling field.
AIPC have structured the BAC with a variety of valuable unit topics and compulsory intensive residential school attendances to equip us to enter the field with an overall understanding of responsibilities, knowledge and insight into the world of counselling. Some of the units I enjoyed learning more about were grief counselling, developmental psychology in children, adolescence, adults and the aged. Learning more about family and couple counselling, specifically Gottman Method and the various counselling therapies, ethics, law in practice has provided me with added confidence to provide the best service I can to my clients. I am confident with shared knowledge within an organisation, co-workers will also benefit.
During my time with AIPC, the staff and lecturers of AIPC have been very supportive, professional and attentive to all my enquiries. They demonstrated empathy and understanding through all my meltdowns, which I have truly appreciated. I completed my BAC, after 4 years of study in February 2019. I was successful to acquire part-time employment through my first Counselling Practicum placement and know my path has reconnected to the counselling journey to fulfil my purpose and live the dream as a passionate counsellor. My passion is to walk with clients, knowing it is a privilege to be invited into their worlds and gain their trust to help them through their trials and challenges, teaching and empowering them to feel confident and belief they can make choices to achieve their goals and their dreams towards a healthier and better well-being.
I would highly recommend AIPC to anyone considering further study to fulfil their dream towards working in the field of Counselling.

I have been studying with AIPC Adelaide for almost 2 years now. The course is so detailed and the support i have received is exceptional. You really feel like an individual there and they genuinely care about you and your studies. I have studied elsewhere and cant believe i thought i could be a counsellor after that. The course is structured so that you use your practical skills in role plays, and this has taught me so much about myself and the trainers are so lovely. Cant recommend them highly enough.

I have been a volunteer for the last 7 years with a homeless connect organisation, through this experience my interest in Counselling grew. "The Diploma of Counselling" course with the AIPC was very interesting, the course steps you through each stage in a logical, professional and guiding process. This organisation takes their students and their personal goals seriously, backup through their office was invaluable, a caring support crew who wanted you to achieve your end goal and supported you every step of the way. I learnt so much through this course, googling up words to understand their meaning reinforced to me that this qualification is exacting, if it was easy everyone would do it. Prepare for the challenge, it is well worth it.
