Technician arrived at our home as booked on 13th July, he found that our heater required a part. Aurora didn't have part, given 3 dates as to when part would arrive, part finally sent out on the last date that it should of arrived. Now part lost by Australia Post and it appears issue will not be resolved by Aust Post for 3 working days. It appears now that emails sent to Aurora are being ignored. No effort by Aurora to send out a replacement part. If parts are found on Monday the Technician at best will be able to complete repairs on Tuesday. This is one day short of 3 weeks after his first visit, if we are lucky. This couldn't of happened at a worse time as it is the coldest part of the year in Melbourne. I don't know the date we punched unit so the date l put in will be a wild guess

I have been a customer of aurora energy for over 3 years since living in Tasmania. I managed to get a little behind in my gas and electricity accounts and set up the "yes" program, to allow myself to pay my bills in installments while still maintaining my connections. As a low income earner this has been really helpful. Every quarter I discussed my accounts with very friendly staff who are prepared to go the extra mile to help keep my bills down. I grew up in New South Wales and several other energy companies I have been through have never offered this form of assistance.

Every time I have had an account issue, I've always been greeted with exceptionally friendly and respectful service. I honestly can't complain about anything. As for these reviews about scamming and ripping people off, I wish them the best of luck with 1st energy. Obviously they don't do their homework when they switch providers. As a mainlander I'm all too familiar with these types of energy companies. I can assure people Aurora are nothing of that sort of company. Especially in my experience. Thank you to the girls in the yes team for respecting my position at times when money is tight. You're respectfulness couldn't be more appreciated. Keep up the great work. I have no intentions of going anywhere else.

Sold my house, sent letter 3 weeks ago requesting disconnection for yesterday. It was not done. Unable to contact them via email, it would not send, unable to log into their website, kept saying try again. Tried phoning, waited forever, put on hold, finally put through to disconnections, still do not know if they are even going to do it - meanwhile new people have moved into the house and I am paying the electricity for them because I cannot disconnect it. Will head around to the house tomorrow with a chainsaw to disconnect the meter box from the house, maybe that will get the message through. Incompetent company, not enough staff to answer calls, clearly tossed the letter that I sent to them in the bin.

Have been in Tassie 4 years now, which means I have been an Aurora customer for 4 years as they have clearly lobbied the government enough to stop contestibility.

Have to be the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with - from high connection & disconnection charges (in QLD i could read the meter out over the phone when leaving a place), to short payment terms - it takes them 3 month's to bill me, yet I then only have around 12 days from when I get the bill and of course interest charges on overdue accounts.

In my current property, I had the power connected and within 2 weeks I got an overdue letter for the connection fee - nothing first, just a straight out 'you need to pay this now letter' - I called to ask why it wasn't added to the first invoice, like the last 2 times I connected and was told it wasn't, no idea why, but pay it now - nothing else, no 'service' of any kind.

Not to mention that Aurora sell energy generated in Tas then buy in energy and charge it at a higher rate.

Over priced, absolutely shocking customer service

We are a couple and a baby living in a small town house , even weith minimum use we get an energy bill of atleast $500 every 3 months , we used to live in melbourne before and shared our home with brother in law and his family and even then we only received a bill between $150-180 a months thats including heating , water heater and cooking and the retailer offered discounts when we pay on time Aurora does not offer any discounts, i have always noticed that regardless of how less you use heating the heating portion of the bill will always be more than the normal energy portion and will be high. think they are taking Tasmanians on a ride and taking advantage of them as Tasmanians do not have any choice when it comes to choosing energy retailers which is unfair. Will make complaints to necessary authority to investigate possible dodgy business practices by Aurora. I advice all others to do the same otherwise this will continue.

Like most reviews, Aurora's monopoly on electricity is causing so many householders grief, with their exhobitant quarterly bills. If the State government really cared about Tasmanians, they would initiate an enquiry into this energy provider and make appropriate recommendations that would pull them into line with their interstate counterparts.

They charged me 1000.00kw they made up, for electric heating and water tarriff 41, if you have a gas you don't get tarriff 41 unless it's the daily supply charge.
They even make me pay for the idiot to check his mistake, $54.99 X 2 because it takes 2 idiots to figure out the number doesn't exist at all. Oh and don't forget the original idiot that made up the number in the first place.
It also states on the aurora website concessioners don't pay tarriff 41 daily supply charge, so why am I being charged that.
I know I get a discount on the main bill but your website also states we are exempt from tarriff 41 daily supply charge, I will be going to the ombudsman because customer service make excuses and threaten to hang up because they don't like being caught in their own crap.
The worse customer service I have EVER seen, and I've seen a lot of bad customer service but this one outdoes all of them!
Won't refund me, won't except responsibility and refuse to take the charge for the metre check off even though they said I wouldn't be charged if I was correct on being charged 1000.00kw ( I was very right ) so pull your fingers out and do your job!

I've only just moved to Tasmania and am shocked at the charges for electricity from Aurora. At the rate I am being charged (for very sparing use of appliances), I am looking at over $700 for my first quarter .... For one person!! I have never had to pay more than $300 a quarter in NSW, and that was for a two person use of appliances. I find it very overwhelming to wonder how I am going to manage, being a pensioner. Surely this is a crazy situation!

6 years of trying to buy and own a house on a single income. 2 adult kids. Every quarter is a nightmare. 1000 to 1800 in electric bills. 1600 last bill and i and 1 child was away on holidays. 1 month away. What the hell is wrong here. I ask the questions and get no satisfaction what so ever. Time to get stuck into them. Ridiculous amount of money for nothing. My thought is there not reading meter at all and having an outrageous guess. Not right. All i get is call an electrician. Really how do i pay for that.

I don't know why (Tas Networks/ Hydro) charge so much for power in Tasmania. I know Aurora Energy is only the Energy Retailer and unfortunately take all the brunt of dis-pleasure from 99 % of Energy users in Tasmania but this still does not answer the question why do have the highest power costs in Australia??. We do not have lights on in rooms we are not in, we don't waste power but like many others coming from interstate we were shocked at the power bills we receive quarterly. Like many others who ask ....when are we going to get COMPETITION to provide cheaper energy in Tasmania?
One answer to the high costs could be the poor budgeting and management that Tas Networks/ Hydro has in place for Projects completed and taking place in Tasmania. How do I know this ?, lets just say I know someone in high places.
We are never going to get fair prices in Tasmania until we get, competition, political intervention, but most importantly a much better operation by the Power Supply Corporation....Tas Networks / Hydro
