The Hyundai - they called to say it needed a set of sparkplugs at $40 each. I declined, and asked why they had recommended the change, they said plugs were worn. I checked them later, absolutely perfect condition. Could have wasted $160.00. I did agree that they could change out the brake pads, but was surprised that the discs needed machining, at extra cost. There had been no noise or feel to suspect a need for this. When I queried that decision, they stated that they ALWAYS automatically machine discs when pads are replaced! That is a wasteful policy, unnecessary expenditure for the customer. ATF and coolant were said to be dirty and needed to be replaced & flushed out, what rot, they are fine.
The Nissan - surprise, the ATF and coolant were dirty, needed replacement and flushing, both were fine. Sparkplugs needed replacement, I could go on.....
People, the days are gone when mechanics could be automatically trusted to make good decisions and look after the customer's hip pocket. On inspection, Automasters Baldivis does the opposite, finding spurious reasons to do work which is not needed, and which ramps up their revenue.
I am off elsewhere.

I went to pick up the car and was advised of a number of other faults that would cost thousands
I got a second opinion the oil leak was just a hose cracked and the other faults did not exist at all
The oil leak was fixed for under $200
the automasters rear sticker torn up and in the bin
Decided to get a second opinion

As I’m a carer for my wife(stroke) I said that all I could let them have it for was half a day.
I dropped it off and was given a loan car.
My car was returned to my house by a woman in auto masters uniform just after midday.
I was told that the secondary battery was dead(it runs the economy computer and was working before the servicing began)
I also took the car back to the workshop to show them grease on the drivers seat around a couple of deep gouges in the leather seat
The person got some cleaning fluid and cleaned the seat and I left in disgust
I have written this complaint to the manager and the response was that the batteries only last about this long and that the seat damage was assessed as fair wear and tear. (4yrs old)
The bottom line is that the seat had no grease or tear on when it was dropped off and the battery was working when it was dropped off
I have crossed Auto Masters off my list and advised many others to do the same

My car didn't have these issues before I gave it for servicing! The whole thing is just ridiculous.. I feel completely ripped off. And they had the gall to ask for more money to fix something that should have already been sorted! Instead of being understanding, the man I spoke to this morning and evening was rude and dismissive saying he was trying to save money for us on first time. He was challenging me to give any complaint, he doesn't care and he adds I am lying.
They could have given me options what is best instead of telling me what they did before and what they are suggesting now. Atleast they should have offered that it was a bad suggestion and reduced the money they have charged me before in the quoting price.
Definitely not coming back.
