I have recently taken out a policy with Aviva. It is a household policy for a new build which does not start for another couple of weeks. Obviously the address I put on the policy is the house I want to insure not the one I am currently living in. When I realised I needed my documents sent to another address as they would not be emailed I phoned the call centre. I was quickly informed that I couldn't get it sent to another address and I would need to take out a new policy online (to avail of the online discount again) and then phone back. When I explained that this seemed unnecessary and was not a great way to deal with new customers I was very quickly told I could complain and go to the Ombudsman. This is very infuriating to have this offered up before any other effort is made to resolve the issue at hand. When I requested to speak to a manager, my issue was resolved very quickly without actually having to speak to said manager. I was very appreciative that my problem was resolved in a simple manner, eventually.

Failed to advise me of my policy expiration close to expiry date, resulting in policy lapsing
Web site "hung" twice while renewing so called phone lines
Policy set up on Wed 18th December but no policy documents in post by today December 23rd
New policy was 25% less than that quoted in renewal notice and i changed nothing except increased my excess to €600 for 5% discount
Checked " my aviva" today but no sign of policy documents
called viva call centre and told I have to add my policy to "my aviva myself! !!!!
Policy documents on "My aviva" do not include those required by law to be on car, i.e. my Insurance disc. This is now common practice with other companies such as RSA
If it wasnt that Aviiva offered the lowest quote I'd have no further dealings with Aviva

Shane Mc Donald was excellent as he got me the product that I wanted which was open driving for UK drivers over 25 and under 70 as my two daughters travel over from UK and now I know they are covered without phone calls to add them on as on last policy which was a bit of hassle

The gentleman at the other end of call was absolutely fantastic to deal with he was so efficient he was a star at his job he was able to answer any of my questions which made me very special and at ease which is very important . .i recommend he get promotion or increase in salary as he is a great asset to the company .

I was explained everything very well by a man called Finn. he was great help. this is my second policy with Aviva, I now have car and house insurance with them. The best thing is the cover you get for the price it cost. I will be dealing with them again no problem.

Yes, I do think that the extra discount for two policies should be credited on receipt of the second policy.

easy to use online for house renewal ...had it completed and paid in under 10 minutes and was over 240 euro cheaper than our current insurer!

I done everything online and it was so easy, downloaded all my documents on myAviva, they had 1 query which I answered and its done. Car covered and insurance policy and disc on the way.

The telephone conversations I had with Linda, Miriam and one other lady, whose name I forget, we’re both informative and helpful. They clearly knew their subject and, despite having to deal with dozens of similar conversations throughout the day, they were delightful - chatty but always professional.

Only downside was a technical issue - direct@aviva couldn’t download the scan of a certificate that I was asked to send. Not all of us, especially the chronologically challenged like me, can turn a scan into an email attachment. Thankfully, I think we got over that issue in the end and, as always, Aviva’s premium, service and rewarding of loyalty was second to none.

After 10 years with AVIVA ( 2 cars and a life policy) I was being charged €350 more than if I was a new customer. I had to cancel my existing policy and take out a new one just to avail of the lower price. This has left a soar taste in my mouth.

I spent a week attempting to purchase this policy online. I eventually had to ring in to purchase the policy. The system would require you to enter every figure and you would then get to "proceed to payment" and it would tell you there was a system error.

But for the intervention of my husband I would have gone with AXA as at least they were prepared to take payment on the policy.

This type of issue is understandable for one or maybe two days. This issue continued however for Well over a week!!
