These electric bass lessons are terrific, high quality, logically arranged, with plenty of visual cues, and paced for students of all levels. I was a complete beginner, and found each one of the 109 lessons had some value, and, in fact, am currently taking the course a second time, just to review anything I may have missed, and, because the playalongs were just plain fun! Josh is an exceptional teacher, he has a knack of knowing what needs to be taught, and there are also plenty of bonus materials to aid any student, as well as a forum where he answers any questions. I highly recommend these lessons - there is simply no other equivalent online.

I started out as a high school band drop-out (Kicked out actually). I decided to take up the bass 50 years later, with very little recall of what I had learned in high school, and very little instrumental skill. The B2B (Beginner to Bad Ass) course took me from the very basics of bass playing, through some rudimentary music theory, and onto advanced technique, in a short period of time. Josh Fossgreen's style of teaching is lighthearted and fun, yet very focused. I was absolutely astounded at the progress I made. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning to play bass.

Am I the oldest student (at 73 years young)? Having tried many tutorials, on and off, over the last 40 years - and given up in a relatively short time - I have finally found one that I am enthused with! I found BassBuzz.com looking through bass playing videos online. I was pleased to find out about the Beginner to Badass course. Ordering was easy and it arrived faster than expected. I haven't finished the course yet, but I have enjoyed the lessons so far and feel they have been very effective. I look forward to continuing to learn with Josh after finishing this course.

After years of playing piano, organ, accordion and synthesizers, I decided to try the Bass. I took organlessons for several years, so i know the fundamentals of music theory and all that. Also I knew that I needed to start with the right technique. This is very important, because developing bad habits in the beginning leads to a lot of work to correct later. After watching some lessons on youtube of various online teachers I decided to give Josh a try. Because, well you know after playing in various formations, with different types of musicians from beginners to professionals, you know who is the best for you. But heres what i think made the difference for me. First of all, he knows how to play his instrument very good and he is capable of playing a lot of different styles and techniques. That means he knows what he says and has a big knowlegde base. And second, he also knows how to teach very good so that you can follow everything. Another reason why i wanted to take an online course is the following. I live in germany and only learned the german names of the scales. Also the musical alphabet is different (no joke, in germany its not ABCDEFG its AHCDEFG don't ask me why there is an H in there and why the B flat is just a B instead). So I wanted a teacher that is not from around here to get into the international system. After completing the Beginner to Badass course as a semiprofessional I must say, that i'm very happy with everything! If you follow all the instructions, you will develop a good technique, but be sure to control yourself all the time, to correct bad habits right from the start! After that you will learn a lot of stuff and i was surprised how much it was. Music theory, reading tabs and sheet music, different styles, slapping and so on. The only thing i have to warn you dear reader: The Billy Jean lesson is nearly impossible to master at the point where it is introduced, don't panic (like I did) just move on, it gets back to an easier level after that one. Just try the lesson again after you took the whole course and it will be fine.

As a total beginner, I started out watching lots of YouTube sessions - mainly the ones with bass tabs in them and found most of them a bit drab and it was refreshing when I came across BassBuzz which made learning play bass guitar fun and enjoyable. As my broadband connection here in the North of England is slow and unreliable, I bought the Beginner to Badass DVD set. This course is fantastic, as it gets you to the stage of playing along to a few songs before beginning to introduce music theory - so you don't feel overwhelmed and bored silly playing scales, etc. The tutor (Josh) has a great sense of humour which immediately puts you at ease and his advice is always reassuring and very positive.

This program has helped me on so many levels. Not only have I made progress on the bass that I'm personally thrilled with, but the Beginner to Badass course also helped me understand music more. My songwriting, keyboard playing, composition...all of it, even my ability to play a standard guitar has gotten better thanks to Josh and BassBuzz.com. Josh helped me to understand more about how these instruments are laid out. And, he did so in a way that helped me relate it to other musical concepts I'm trying to learn outside of this course. Having a teacher that could help me connect these dots is borderline priceless. My writing is improving, and now I can understand what role the bass fills, and how to give the rest of the band a foundation to rest on. I absolutely love it! And Josh, seriously thank you for making this course. Please make a second so we can ascend to Bass-Face Valhalla!

I have really enjoyed the course thus far and have already made it halfway through Module 10. I do plan to go back through the course a second time once I finish to absorb the music theory pieces I missed due to the amount of info I'm attempting to learn.

This course gave me the structure and fundamentals I needed to finally make bass playing a priority in my life. The instructor, Josh, is knowledgeable and funny. As cliche and cheesy as it sounds, he makes practice fun! I highly recommend this program. Nobody paid me to say this, and I rarely write reviews. Bass Buzz (and its teacher) is just that awesome.

I really enjoy learning how to play the bass guitar using the BassBuzz course. Josh's approach to teaching is laid back and fun. I've also purchased the DVD+CD set which is a great way to practice the lessons.

Josh is the best, very easy to learn from. I currently take lessons and I use B to B as much needed practice in between. I think the course is teaching me way more than my face to face lesson. I am less than halfway through and building confidence every lesson. I highly recommend this for beginners. I played about 20 years ago in a garage band, but it was self taught, no chords no real knowledge. This is perfect for my level as well.

It has been awesome and easy to follow. Now if I can just get my left hand to relax so it's not hurting when I play and my mind to remember the notes on the fretboard. I really would be a badass! But all joking aside, really love the course and looking forward to completing it so once COVID-19 is over, my friends and I can jam together and I'm not just watching this time from the sideline. So far I'm learning a lot and really enjoying the lessons. Josh is very good at teaching the bass. I do really find the music theory parts of the lessons interesting. They are presented in an easy to understand way that makes learning music less daunting. So far I've completed module 10 and was just messing around with a 69bpm drum track and my Wife happened to walk in and was like "Whaaaaa!". She was pretty amazed with my progress. It's been a lot of fun.

I am an experienced musician that is new to the bass. The Beginner to Badass course has been a great opportunity to learn the basics of the instrument. Some of the material was already familiar to me as a musician. This course would be great for a completely new musician. Nearly all of the lessons involve playing your bass to apply what you've learned. You get to play to music and see tabs/sheet music on the screen as you play. If you have any questions, you will almost always get a response from Josh himself!

I absolutely love everything about the course! The music. The pace. It's working out perfect. Being 50 and a father of 2, I'm not moving as fast as I would like to, but I'm 25% of the way there.

This is just a perfect program for me! Now I'm on week 9 and I feel much more confident than in the beginning. Josh is a great teacher and I really like how he works with people! I'm not a native English speaker and that's not a problem! I understand almost everything, even music theory. What else I really like about the course... jokes! That's very important because it makes lessons fun, this is helping to go further! I hope there will be some new advanced courses and I'll be glad to take them!

The whole experience has been fantastic, yep I hit the same glitch as many others with that certain track lol. I have been hospitalised due to a head injury unfortunately my coordination is a bit messed up at the moment, the random fingers have become worse as has my ability to walk. I've gone back on myself in regards to the course but despite this doing lessons with Josh is my main therapy. If you want to learn bass this is the place to go to. Not only are the lessons fun and progressive I had technical issues (at my end) the bassbuzz team even helped me sort that out too. Its the unbeatable deal

I am a classically trained musician and used this as my intro to the bass. I appreciated learning music at a slow tempo and gradually increasing to performance speed. I didn't need a lot of the theory components, but they were well done and would be helpful for people without the background already. I've enjoyed the process and had a lot of success. Thanks!
