1st the good- service from the staff was excellent - in our experience from Mamagement down to the groundskeepers we were alleays greeted with a friendly smile / good morning etc. The standard of the food was good for mass catering. Pizza place at lunch time great- order early! Good choice of restaurants/ bars. Beach and sea was outstanding , the dive centre staff were excellent Jacques was brilliant as was Shandy and Lindon. Equipment good and diving superb. The resort was spotless, well maintained - I can't fault the people working there or the resort location.
Then the not so good and this is a very personal opinion -but it's our observation so may not phase others. When we did the research to go away we knew the resort was going to be large.... but not as large as it was in reality!
Yes there are lots of different pools and long( beautiful beach) and it is marketed as a family hotel ..but I was getting up at 6 every morning to get sunloungers , as the butler service ( great if you have it) were reserving swathes of beds. The majority of people travelling are from US and a lot of them travel in big parties ... 10/15+.
Everyone is entitled to having a good time - you are in paradise, but as an example the beautiful pool in a Key West by the beach would be great, a few people reading, chilling having a quick refreshing dip- then one of the large groups would arrive and totally dominate the pool jumping in shouting - kids / teenagers jumping in splashing everywhere... thus your quiet haven was quiet honestly (IMHO) ruined. Yes it's a family hotel .... yes kids do this on holiday ( ours is 12)! But there is scant consideration for others - this during our time there was more the norm than the exception. We resorted to going to the far end of the beach( boarding the neighbouring resort) for some peace!
It's NOT Beaches fault and the rating I have given does not reflect this opinion. It's something to be aware of.
The 4 stars is a reflection of the good points and the fact that we felt it overpriced in comparison to other "all inclusive" resorts we've stayed in throughout the Caribbean/Mexico. In summary - great for large families/ extended families travelling together and young children with the kids club., but just not for us - but the beach was exceptional!!!

First and foremost it only seems fair to provide some context. My wife and I started visiting Sandals/Beaches resorts in 1999 and visit at least once (sometimes twice) each year. We have been to virtually all of the Sandals offerings and this was our second visit to Beaches Turks & Caicos. Our last stay here was back in 2013 just prior to the Key West Village opening.
We travelled with another couple who had never been to Beaches before although, like us, they are frequent Sandals visitors.
To try and provide some consistency a score against each part of the holiday that was (a) within Sandals/Beaches control to manage and (b) used at any point during our stay has been provided.
**Pre Arrival - Score 8/10**
The trip was booked direct via the Sandals/Beaches team in the UK about twelve months prior and no issues were experienced. We had one query between ticketing and departure that was dealt with efficiently.
We completed our check in via the resort's online portal in good time ahead of our arrival.
**Resort Arrival - Score 2/10**
We did email the resort about a week prior to reaffirm the need for a high floor room - something we routinely do as our room category included this as standard but we have had problems in the past so felt it wise to remind the in-resort team. We received a personalised acknowledgement from the hotel's general manager.
We were greeted at the airport and the staff there confirmed our room was, indeed, on a high floor - they write your room number on your bag tags. This turned out not to be the case. We had apparently been upgraded to a room w"25 Visits To Sandals & Beaches / 19 Years / 313 Paid Nights = 2nd Most Disappointing Trip"
If you read this review in it's entirety then please don't lose sight of the fact that the resort is considered to be 5* and that we paid a five figure sum (excluding airfare) to stay for two weeks.

We were greeted at the airport and the staff there confirmed our room was, indeed, on a high floor - they write your room number on your bag tags. This turned out not to be the case. We had apparently been upgraded to a room with a patio! To make matters worse our booked room category was no longer available so we had to move from the Key West Village (our booked/paid for choice) to another, older part of the resort for the duration of our stay.
It would also appear that despite completing the resort's online registration we had to repeat the process again on arrival. On that basis what is the point of the initial registration? None as far as we could fathom other than to waste our time.
As frequent guests we should also receive in room check in but this apparently wasn't available. Consequently we had to endure this process in the lobby (despite doing it online back home) after more than twelve hours of travelling...prepare to be patient!
The conclusions we reached are don't bother (a) contacting the resort prior to your arrival (b) completing the online check in. We'd usually expect to be in our room within twenty minutes of arrival in resort. This time it took nearly an hour.
**Beaches - Score 8/10**
Very good. They could do with some extra sun parasols but we never had any issues finding sun beds or shade throughout our stay.
There was an occasional beach drinks service.
**Scuba Diving - Score 8/10**
As a dive instructor this is one of the reasons why (a) we choose Sandals/Beaches for trips abroad and (b) we picked this particular resort which has the largest dive centre across the entire Sandals/Beaches brand.
Overall the dive operation is well organised, friendly and delivered on expectations. We did repeat some dive sites (sometimes on consecutive days) which could be easily corrected with better communication internally.
The boats used are well maintained although there seems to be a tendency to squeeze as many divers onto one boat as possible. That is all well and good if everyone knows exactly what they should be doing. Unfortunately occasional/infrequent divers tend to spread themselves out/leave gear lying around! The resort has four dive boats so why they couldn't requisition another was beyond me.
I'm not aware that anyone was being turned away from the dive shop because they were overbooked. You can put your details on the dive roster for the entirety of your stay as you arrive which is a real advantage not repeated in all other Sandals/Beaches resorts.
We brought our own gear but from inspecting the resort's equipment I'd suggest it is well maintained.
**Food/Culinary Experience - Score 5/10**
In a similar vein to the Beverage section below our last visit five years earlier had this resort leading the way across the Sandals/Beaches brand but, unfortunately, not anymore.
Stand out evening dining for us would Le Petit Chateau (French) and Sky (International with a Caribbean twist) which were very good. We ate at both on multiple occasions. Elsewhere however our views were mixed at best and generally quite disappointing. Menus were relatively uninspiring, server attentiveness varied wildly and the temperature of food (which should have been hot) was regularly warm but also cold on more than one occasion.
The service in Soy was very slow to the point we had to leave part way through our meal for fear of missing friends we had agreed to catch up with. It took nearly an hour to be served our entree.
Ingredient quality was good but the end product simply hasn't kept up the noticeable overall quality lead at this resort when compared with the rest of Sandals. This is a real shame when memories are cast back to our last visit.
**Bars - Score 3/10**
This was by far and away the biggest recurring issue across the resort. For a trip that cost what ours did and in comparison with other Sandals the range of stocked drinks was, frankly, laughable. Bars regularly ran out of popular lines and premium brands were sporadic at best/ conspicuous by their absence at worst. We raised this with the F&B Manager who attempted (with only limited and short lived success) to improve matters but overall the bars looked very light on shelf stock with frequent experiences of unavailable items which extended for days on occasion before returning. It became so bad at one point that it felt like we were participating in a lottery. This is totally unacceptable for an all inclusive resort which positions itself as a service/product leader and smacks of cost cutting with little regard for customer service/experience.
**Housekeeping - Score 9/10**
Housekeeping was very good with service done well and we got turndown each evening. We never had issues with towels or our room being made up late.
**Staff - Score 8/10**
Some of the most helpful we've come across. Where needed they'd generally try to improve your stay/make up for some of the wider resort shortcomings which we put down to poor management as far as can practically be seen.
**Returning Guest Experience - Score 2/10**
This was another huge disappointment. We were the only highest tier returning guests in resort for at least a week and not once did the Loyalty & Travel team reach out to us. We never met/spoke to the Guest Services Manager in resort (which always happens elsewhere) and there was no real recognition of the loyalty we have to the Sandals/Beaches brand. The conclusion we reached was that this resort has decided to 'play along' with the returning guest programme which is influenced heavily by the bigger Sandals part of the organisation. There is certainly no feeling, in our opinion, that they attempt to really embrace this really important loyalty element to their guest makeup.
We were entitled to a pool cabana for one day during our stay. This was apparently overlooked by the team responsible so we had to organise it ourselves until a hastily made attempt was made to rectify. We ended up organising our own lunch as the staff we had expected to seek us out never came back. This was such a difference from the experience we had at Sandals in St Lucia where they were clearly more used to this loyalty perk.
**Overall - Score 5/10**
Our least favourite resort is Sandals Antigua and some of the reasons for this dubious accolade can be seen in a review from November 2016. Unfortunately Beaches Turks & Caicos has changed immeasurably for the worse since our visit five years ago. Certainly the addition of the Key West village has added another dimension to the resort which is now up to 748 rooms/residences. Is this at the root cause of the rating given here? No. It is very much down to some fundamental but easily rectified management decisions which are otherwise detracting from what could be so much better.
In short you would take too much of a risk with your hard earned holiday budget to visit here. We certainly won't be returning and suggest you look elsewhere.
