Bought a Nikon D90, paid about $70 less than I would have at retailers I typically deal with. The camera arrived within a week with free shipping. The only potential complaint I have is that I'm mildly suspicous this is a refurb, which it was not labeled as anywhere on their site, because the manual is clearly not new and the box was a bit wrinkled/bent up on the lid around the tab where you open it. If it IS a refurb, I paid about $70 more than a refurbed D90 would have cost me locally, but there are no signs of use or refurbed-ness on the camera or accessories, so I can't prove anything and can't complain too much. Just so long as it really DOES have the 1 year Nikon warranty it allegedly came with -- hopefully I never need to find out...

I had purchased from Butterfly Photo in the past and had been quite satisfied but my recent experience has changed that perception dramatically. I purchased a TV and paid extra for a so called "White Glove" delivery. The carrier was absolutely terrible and after three weeks my TV is still in a city seven hours away. When trying to contact Butterfly Photo I was placed on hold for over an hour. When I finally did get through I was assured the matter would be handled and absolutely nothing was done. I contacted the carrier directly and they were even less help. I would never even consider purchasing anything from this unreliable merchant again!

I order a samsung plasma and the first it came cracked.At first I was worried with 2300 bucks on the line but read up on the internet and most everyone had good things to say about exchanges.Its taken about 2 months now and a whole lot of BS but I just got a replacement today.And guess what?Thats right,the screen is cracked....so I refused the tv...and here we go again....

After researching for a 3D tv for about two weeks, I decided to go with Samsung 55'' 8000 series. My next mission was to find best possible price and quickly I came upon this site "butterflyphoto.com" and loved the Package deal of the TV I was looking for + THE Samsung 3D blu-ray player and a 3D kit of two glasses and a 3D movie + bonus cables & cleaning kit. I decided to check some reviews of this site since this was going to be my first purchase from this site. I wasn't too thrilled about what I saw (4.5/10), i then decided to call the phone # on the site and try to get the feel of people from the site I was assured that I will not have a bad experience and I was told I can do a COD (cash-on-delivery) just to be sure. I figured I can't go wrong with COD, so I placed my order using credit card (I was told its just for address verification and charges will be made to it).
A day after my order was placed I recieved a phone call (like everyone mentioned in their reviews that you will get a call trying to cell addtional items), person on phone was very poliet and offered me a lower price than advertised if i bought a 3 year in-home service, it turned out that for additional $80 and price adjustment I can have 3 year in home service which i did take.
I also added a WALL-Mount which i originally wanted.
Now all i had to do was wait for everything to be delivered, delivery was delayed for two days but all arrived and I noticed everything was there Except the free cable/cleaning kit, I could have rejected the Delivery but I wasn't too concerned about the cables/cleaningkit, i decided to accept and pay for it. Next day I called to complain about missing Kit, the person once again was very nice and he apologized for it and assured me that it will be sent out the same day and I should have it in no more than two days and for sure two days later I had the kit in my hands.
Apart from the delivery delay and not being informed about it my Experience with "BUTTERFLYPHOTO.COM" was great and I will defnately buy from them again. :-)

I bought a 58" plasma TV on October 8th. Granted I made the purchase on a Friday, but the TV did not get picked up by the shipper until the following Wednesday. When the TV finally arrived, (12 days from purchase) the screen was shattered. I refused delivery, and Butterfly promised to send a replacement the following day. On that day, they assured me the TV would go out the following day. On the next day, they promised it would be sent expedited delivery on the next business day. Are you beginning to see a pattern? So was I. At 5pm of the day of the latest promise, I canceled my order. Obviously it had still not gone out. These guys are dishonest, so I would avoid them.

Another point - I went ahead and ordered the TV from a local store last night. (Incidentally, it will be delivered today.) When I asked the salesman about the online price, he told me that the store could not be an authorized dealer as Samsung would not allow the TV to be sold under a certain price. I went to the Samsung site and sure enough, Butterfly is not an authorized dealer. I checked a handful of online stores that are authorized dealers, and in fact there were no stores touching Butterfly's price. Caveat Emptor.

Note: This company also has the domains LCTVs.com and BuyersEdge.com.

UPDATE: It's been 48 hours since I canceled my order and Butterfly Photo has still not issued me a refund.

AWFUL, AWFUL experience - if Samsung didn't step up and finally help (after a long chain of calls) I'd have filed the Small Claims court filing by now - long story short, the TV they sent me had a tiny dent in the back, barely noticeable but enough to block a screw from being removed. Before they shipped it to me, they made it very clear that I should call Samsung directly with any issues with the TV - full warranty. When I turn it on, half the screen is blurred/scrambled, and this goes on and off all day. I call Samsung the next morning, but it took them more than a week to get a tech onsite. He discovers the dent, can't open the TV, and Samsung disowns the TV due to 'physical damage'. Butterfly then tells me I'm out of luck and they won't help me at all - even going as far as to say that I should tell Samsung that the damage must have happened in the factory (they inspect all units before boxing them up). My strong gut feeling is that this 'acquisitions' company bought a bad set/lot of bad sets, and figured they could unload it on someone and get away with it being called in for shipping damage or something similar - regardless, I would consider them to be the worst vendor with whom I have ever done business. Buyer beware - they'll be happy to prove that one to you.

Ordered a digital SLR on 7/24 which was a Sat and the sales guy called promptly on Sunday to try to sell me other stuff. He failed to mention the cam was on back order so I had to call back about 10 days later. The email and IVR both say they open at 930 AM but when I called at 10:30 AM, no one answered the phone. Finally got a hold of someone, was told there was a 2 week back order so I cancelled the order, I needed it in time for my vacation and they didn't meet my deadline so I had to go elsewhere. Come back from vacation on on August 26th they send a email and tell me great news, just shipped you the cam. So tried calling again, same rigamarole with the opening times so I dialed random 4 digit extensions until I finally got someone who transferred me to Dave the Customer Service Manager. He told me to return the cam when it showed up via UPS. I did so and my UPS tracking number says they received it on August 30 but still no credit on my credit card account as of today, 9/24. I've filed a dispute with my card company. Tried calling them today, 9/24/10 and the recroding says their sales dept is closed util Sunday, what business clsoes down for four days? Tried their fax number, it has been disconnected. I suspect these guys are out of business. Avoid them like the plague.

Paid extra for 3-5 day shipping (9.95) and after 2 days processing it shipped with UPS showing a 9 day transit. Customer service said that would be bussiness days which is not what the site said. Very deceiving and a lot of money to pay extra for what appears to be normal shipping.

Ordered Mon, March 29, 2010 3:14:30 PM, Order Confirmation (BEW10165713) from BuyersEdge.com, 3/29/2010, invoiced as 709-205 Sigma 28-135mm f/3.8-5.6 Aspherical IF Macro Lens for Konica Minolta SLR Camera, $122.21 paid by PayPal. Received a Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 SLD for Minolta AFD lens on April 7, 2010. Called Buyer's Edge CS # and GOT LAUREN AT BUTTERFLY PHOTO. Told her I did not get the lens I ordered. Told her that in the Sigma box containing the lens were 2 invoices, one dated 3/29/2010, addressed to me in California, from "butterflyphoto.com", describing the lens I DID NOT order. The other invoice was addressed to John Khoury of Towson, MD, DATED DECEMBER 3, 2009 (Invoice #BY50548865) approved by BUYCOM, describing a SIG18- SIGMA 18-125mm f/3.5-5.6 DC AUTO FOCUS ZOOM $249.00. I told Butterfly's Lauren that I suspected that Mr Khoury had returned the lens (the box was well worn, no shrinkwrap), and the shipping clerk had made a mistake in sending a used item to me. She said that could not happen at Butterfly, and proceeded to check with her supervisor. Her supervisor came on the line and said he did not know how they could have made such a bad mistake. I could either return the lens at my expense, for a refund, or he would take an additional $20.00 off of my credit card and I could keep the lens. Since Amazon is selling that same lens (new) for double that final price, I decided to avoid a return hassle and keep the "wrong" lens, even though the lens I got is most likely not a new lens. In retrospect, I have let these meretricious reprobates at Buyer's Edge and ButterFly off far too easily. They are not to be trusted by anyone.


I will NEVER buy anything again from the lying shills at Buyer's Edge nor the incompetents at ButterFly. Every one should use RESELLERRATINGS.com BEFORE they buy anything on the Internet. Avoid those bozos at all costs.

About a month ago, I ordered this camera from them via a Google "shop search" or whatever. I ordered the camera, paid via PayPal, and then waited. After a few weeks, I called to check on the status, and the woman (incredulously) told me that they didn't get more info than just my name. I logged in, and indeed, I saw a list of hundreds of products in "my" order history -- all people victim of a glitch that made us all unfulfillable. Her advice? Not to use PayPal or it wouldn't have happened. WHAT? So this was MY fault?
Idiotically, I then REORDERED the camera 10 days ago and paid for expedited shipping. The money came out of my account the next day (classy!), but my status remained "picking" (New Jerseyian for "packing?"). I called today, and the woman said that they didn't sell the camera anymore, and wouldn't be getting any in. ORLY? I checked their site and Google shopping, which both had them in inventory. I asked to be refunded immediately, following which she informed me that it would take 3-4 business days (a week) to get my money back. So they can take it out overnight WITHOUT having the product, but it takes a week to get it back to me. My third problem with them (I know, I know). I'm done with them. Over Buy.com for a savings of $10? I think not.

My credit card was billed over three weeks ago, and Butterfly Photo has yet to ship the camera I purchased. On 26 Nov 10, I ordered a camera from Butterfly Photo's website as a Christmas present for my wife. As of today, 18 Dec, Butterfly Photo has still not shipped the camera. They advertised all items would be shipped in 7-10 business days. I have e-mailed Butterfly Photo twice, with no clear response from them. Butterfly Photo has just told me via e-mail to call them, which is very hard to do, since I'm a Soldier deployed to Afghanistan at a fairly remote site. I very much wanted my wife to still get a Christmas present from me, even though I currently don't have any way beyond online to purchase anything. I’m very disappointed my wife won’t get a Christmas present from me, and I’m also disappointed my wife won’t be able to take Christmas pictures of my children to send to me. Thanks Butterfly photo.

BEWARE I order a Canon PowerShot G11 10MP Digital Camera - 3632B001 on Oct 11th 2010 atracted by the low price with a rush order 3-5 business days and a week after Oct 18th 2010 I call back because on their site was no info about tracking details and a lady inform me that they didn't send the order becasue they don't have it. After 1 week after I make a phone call they inform me my order will never show up. VERY DISAPPOINTED my wife birthday is on 20th and now i need to spend extra money to buy something on rush plus we celebrate in Vegas so i need to spend extra money to get a camera because they will return the money in 24-48 hours.

Hi,
I placed an order on Jul 11th for Sony camcorder with expedite shipping. the next day (mon) I called them and enquired about the delivery. they mentioned that it would take 2 days to process the order. I called wed and they mentioned that they would send by thursday and I would receive it by friday.
I called them on thursday for tracking number. they said that they have 200 deliveries and they cannot track it on thursday.
Finally on Friday they mentioned that they lost the tracking number. package was picked. they don't know about carrier also.
I needed it for Sunday actually for my son's 1st b'day party.
I had to borrow from my frnds finally. if they have told me on wednesday, then i would have ordered somewhere else with 2-3 days business shipping.

**BUYER BEWARE** I purchased a Canon 7D from Butterfly Photo last month. Service was great, order came quickly. AFter a week I noticed focusing issues with the camera. I sent it in to Canon USA for repair, assuming it was under warranty. Canon USA called me the next day to inform me that the camera was COUNTERFEIT! What this means is that 1. It is not a USA product (no warranty card) 2. The serial number on the camera was fake 3. The camera was from Europe and probably bought off the black market. Canon USA cannot fix a camera that is European or one that does not come up in their system due to the fake serial number.

I have contacted Butterfly and continue to contact them. I have received NO RESPONSE. I did my research and read through many reviews on this company. There are many great reviews, and many bad ones. This type of fraudulent business ethic is unacceptable and I will be pursuing every avenue of possible to hurt their reputation.

Not only am I out $1500, but I have lost weeks worth of business as I have had to cancel/reschedule photo session with my clients.

**PLEASE BEWARE** Call the Better Business Bureau.

I placed an order for a TV on 9th Feb. I was phoned the next day being offered extra products and I express delivery. I decided that the express shipment was a good idea at an extra cost of $60 - apparently it was arranged with a local courier and I would get a 2 hour delivery window. 1 week later I had heard nothing. I phoned and they told me that they had located a defective TV in the warehouse and the delay was that it was being reshipped from another warehouse. Fair enough I thought - would have been nice to have been notified but never mind..., and waited. I checked in a couple of days later. They gave me a tracking number with UPS (so much for the "local courier" but I let that pass at that point). 2 days later, UPS still had no record of an item with the tracking number they gave me. I phoned again - they said there was sometimes a problem with UPS not scanning items out of the warehouse, but that the TV was on its way. Another 3 days, nothing - no record of item on UPS. I phoned BP again, they said they would put a claim in with UPS... It would take up to 10 days and they could do nothing until that was resolved. I asked them to ship me another unit in the meantime, and just recall the original shipment if they found it - or if they didn't find it then no harm done (although I strongly suspected and still do that this was an insurance scam on BP's part - they generated the shipping label, but never actually sent the TV). Anyway - no luck with that. I asked for a refund. No luck - have to wait. I asked for a refund for the express shipping at least and they said they would process it. After 2 weeks or so, with me calling regularly, they finally resolved the claim with UPS and were sending me another TV. My refund for express shipping still hadn't arrived. A week passed - with me calling regularly, being met with the usual rude and unhelpful phone reps - still no sign of shipment. I put a claim in with Paypal for a refund - the next day, I had notification of shipment! And by the end of that day, UPS had scanned it into their system. My TV arrived over a month after I ordered it. The express shipment refund took a further 2 weeks to come through.
Rude, unhelpful staff: "there's nothing I can do. sorry". "It's with our TV buyer" - "Can I speak to him" - "no he doesn't take calls". "It's with the other warehouse" - "well can you call them, I'll hang on the line" - "no we can't contact them" etc... You get the picture. At best their staff are unhelpful, rude, robotic and obstructive. At worst I would suggest someone there used this case to scam the cost of a TV from UPS... but I speculate. Either way: don't bother with these guys!

I do not usually write reviews and my transaction was a couple of months ago but it's still on my mind so I need to get this off my chest. I was drawn in by the lowest price on the internet for a camcorder that I had planned to buy. I went for it without reading any company reviews first, unfortunately. However, I did call first and speak to a sales person who told me that my camcorder was in fact in stock and since their website stated that all items ship out within 1-2 days - I thought, What could go wrong? Well, after placing my order I got an annoying sales call, trying to sell me more stuff. He said my order should ship out the next day, that they would email me the tracking #. This went on for about a week, me calling to see if it shipped, them telling me it will ship tonight, should get the email tomorrow. Never happened. Then I was told that it's shipping out from their warehouse...What happened to it being in-stock??? Then I read the customer review and knew I had to get out of this transaction. So, I called to cancel the order. They assured me that it was already shipped. Next day, no email w/tracking #. Called again to cancel, they said I could not cancel. What?! You can't tell me I can't cancel my order. If it had in fact shipped I would in fact have a tracking # but since I don't = it didn't ship = I'm cancelling! Nope, they wouldn't accept my cancelation. So I put a stop on my credit card and ended the transaction myself. Oh yea, that night I got an email with a tracking # of a package that went to CA. I live in NY. NEVER AGAIN. Do yourself a favor - Shop elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered a case and selected 2nd day delivery specifically since i needed that item urgent. they shipped it first class usps (5 days). After getting the shipping confirmation I contacting the customer service regarding the same, I got a reply there is nothing they can do ! what the f... ! never ever buy from butterflyphoto, order might not end up as requested and PAID for.

I ordered a Nikon D90 kit from Butterfly Photo and I couldn't be happier with the service or price. I read some of the other comments about them holding orders until they make a sales call, which could be true - but I gotta say, the sales rep called me and I ended up adding a warantee and some lens filters at a price I couldn't refuse... so I'm glad he called. I got an awesome deal and paid much less than anywhere else I could find online or in retail. Shipping was also much faster than the sales rep said - I got my camera in 2 days vs the 5 days he said on the phone. In summary, I'm super happy with my camera and the service provided by the sales rep and Butterfly Photo.
