Instrumentpro.com Reviews & Complaints (18)

Ordered a Fender amp on 1/8. Arrived on 1/18. Tubes were rolling around loose and one was broken. Couple of other parts were loose inside amp. Filled out online return form same day. No contacts from IP for the next week.Tried to talk to someone in returns dept and received excuses why I couldn’t speak to anyone (they are in the warehouse helping ship, gone for the day, etc.) Finally, in desperation I called Mike Lee, referred to in an earlier review. He tried to help and got a FedEx guy to come pick it up on 1/26. It is now 1/31 and it is still at the local FedEx facility. I asked for a refund so I could end the nightmare and go to a local store. They said if I wanted a refund I would have to pay shipping on the busted amp.

FedEx estimated delivery date is 2/5 on the returned amp. God knows how long it will take to ship the replacement out after they receive it. My first really bad experience buying online. To be continued…

I have never been treated so poorly by an on-line merchant. Pay extra at any other on-line merchant before subjecting yourself to this company. The money you "save" will never be worth the pain you endure when you have to sort out an issue (due to their poor website)and worst service.

I got a little worried after I received my tracking information for a guitar I purchased on Amazon (third party seller Instrument Pro) and it was scheduled to arrive a thousand miles away from where it was supposed to go. I tried e-mailing them a couple of times during the delivery process but did not get a response. I read the reviews on here during that time and was in a panic...even more so when someone signed for the package.

Long story short, I did get a hold of Instrument Pro, they sent me the wrong tracking number and hadn't mailed me my guitar yet. They immediately sent it to me overnight and I got a Saturday delivery. So, despite the scare and the delay, everything turned out alright.

Item is, normally, "fair-traded" by Yamaha for $1,000; InstrumentPro advertised it (Google and their own site) for $700. After confirming order, next day I get eMail declaring "out of stock and no longer available from the manufacturer." ... which I believe to be a royal flying canard. "... your order is cancelled."

Item is not only still available at many other vendors (for $1,000, rather than InstrumentPro's advertised $700), it is endorsed by Lee Ritenour on Yamaha's web site.

I suspect that Instrument advertised their cost, rather than price ... or it's just a low-ball ad. You decide from whom you dare buy ... integrity counts when choosing a vendor.

I recently had the pleasure of doing business with the guys from Instrument Pro. I was looking for a lefty double pedal that no other stores seemed to have available. I contacted several national music stores and received the same comment that my pedal is a "special order" item and I would not be able to get one for approx. 8 to 12 weeks!?!?!?!? I came across Instrument Pro among all the other stores online and figured I'd give them a try. Well, I'm glad I did! The very polite, helpful and professional sales rep Mike Lee not only was able to get me what I needed, but was able to deliver my product to my door in 2 days from California to New Jersey after placing my order. Unlike other stores, Mike from Instrument Pro treated me like a valued customer and really cared about my satisfaction with the product. He went out of his way, above and beyond to take care of me to get me my product as quickly as possible. Every time I call him with a question or advice, he helps me out and takes the time without rushing me off the phone. Where else would you get that kind of personal service? You guessed it...Nowhere! That's why I buy all of my stuff from these guys, because they really do care about great customer service! Instrument Pro...That's all you need to know!

I ordered a Roland BA-330 speaker from Instrument Pro last week, I believe it was Tuesday. After not receiving any emails about my order (except for the notification of a charge to my card) I called them on Friday. They told me the item was back ordered and should be getting some in Monday or Tuesday. Today I found out that they credited my account for the item. I like the fact that they credited my account but I don't like having to call to find out the item is not in stock. Most websites let you know that before you order it. I order the item with Sweetwater.com this morning. It may cost me a little extra but it's worth my peace of mind. After talking to Instrument pro an hour ago I must down grade my opinion of them. After ordering from Sweetwater I get an email from instrumentpro stating that my order is be shipped. I called them and tell that I tried canceling my order using there email system. They tell me it's too late and that I can't refuse the package and will incur a re-stocking fee. My credit card company tells me that their charge was declined so how can my order be shipped. Further more FedEx says you can decline any package. Too shady for me. I received another email with a Fedex tracking number but Fedex has no record of it in their system.

I wish I had read the reviews on this site before I made the mistake of ordering from them (more than once!). These jokers are the biggest bunch of wannabees since Newegg! Never ONCE did I ever receive a reply to any of the numerous emails I sent trying to 1)Find out where the hell an overdue order was, or 2)Determine the status of refunds due to their screwups. Unless you've got a great deal of patience and time to waste, and are feeling lucky, DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE ABSOLUTE MORONS!

I made this order through Underbid.com, ANOTHER company I will not do business with again, and the payment was submitted through Paypal, which I regard as pure poison due to past experiences with them, a fact that was made plain to me only after the transaction was complete.

Part of Instrumentpro's business model is to collect the money from the holder's account (or have Paypal do it for them) regardless of whether they actually have the item in stock. When I ordered the item, a speaker cabinet, through Underbid, they showed 5 available, however I received a notice from Instrumentpro 2 days after I placed the order that the item was on backorder until October. I immediately cancelled the order by submitting the form on their site, but after 2 MORE days I had not received an ackowledgement. I had to mount an email campaign to get some attention form them, which included demands via email to their customer service dept and a flurry of cancellation submissions through their online form. It got their attention, because I then received ackowledgement.

Long story short, I placed the order on 8/12, the cancellation on 8/14, received ackowledgement of the cancellation on 8/18 and notification that my card had been credited on 8/19, or a full week after I placed the order...a week in which I had no idea what the status of my money was.

This is not acceptable to me. I will do business from now on only with vendors that do not charge the card until the item ships, and who let you know up front whether or not they actually have the item in stock, rather than waiting until the order is placed and the card charged to let you know if its on backorder. I will give my business to Music123, Zzounds or Sweetwater, or Carvin, all of whom give excellent customer service and don't take your money until the item is SHIPPED!.

I will NEVER AGAIN order through Instrumentpro, Underbid or any other reseller without first checking out their reviews (something I should have done in the first place). It's worth the 20 or 30 bucks I would have saved just to know that my order will be handled professionally and that my money will not line someone's account until the backorder is filled.

I ordered a Fender American Standard Telecaster from instrumentpro.com on March 31st and immediately freaked out when I read some of the reviews here. It was my fault because I didn't do any research before placing the order. I was a complete wreck by the time I got a call from Carlos a few days later. He told me that my guitar had been backordered and probably wouldn't ship out until the first week of May! I was upset but decided to stick it out and to not cancel my order. At least I got a call and he seemed to care. That was good customer service.

I was expecting a long wait but to my surprise, I got an email notification that my guitar had shipped out on April 12th. I finally received it on April 18th and couldn’t be happier! It only took two and a half weeks to get to me after placing my order. I would suggest that instrumentpro indicate what they have in or out of stock on their website but other than that, I am one happy dude and would shop here again.

I dealt with InstrumentPro last week and after ordering a $200+ wireless mic for my Audio-Technica, which by the way was the cheapest I found anywhere, I received an email with my order info on it and the email said the tracking number would follow soon. The Tracking number never came and I started getting concerned. I started reading all the negative reviews which made me ill, but kept calling and they assured me of the order etc. I never received the tracking number and so I called Mike back and he assured me that I would be able to get it by Friday which is when I really needed it. By Thursday, I still had not heard anything, but Mike said to trust him that it will be overnighted and arrive Friday. Sure enough, it arrived Friday, brand new and works great.

I am sorry I doubted. I never had an issue getting them on the phone etc, but the only draw-back was the miss-information around getting me a tracking number. I am pretty sure they lost money on my purchase, because they ended up paying for the overnight when it got delayed.

Thanks Instrument Pro

I called the manufacturer - Pearl - about a backlog order notification from InstrumentPro. And the manufacturer confirmed that the backlog is real and that InstrumentPro is not a scam and is based in CA.

ordered a special vocal mic clip from InstrumentPro back on jan 17th, website 5-7 biz days for delivery...it is now Feb 8th and still no mic. I have called twice and both times had very poor service (with attitude). I'm now been told to hope it arrives by the end of February... I will NOT ever use nor recommend this biz to ANYONE. I'm not quite sure how these companies survive.

Took over a month for them to tell me the item (that i was promised would ship out the next day) was actually on backorder, not in stock. Also, it would be 4-5 days before they could refund my PayPal payment. Also had to ASK for a receipt to be mailed to me. Hard to get anyone on the phone, even at 2pm on a Thursday. This place is a scam. Avoid.

Horrible customer service and I've yet to receive my product after 45 days of "backorder" status. I've called to ask what was going on with the dean guitar I ordered... no one picked up during business hours which is odd enough, so i left a message and i did not receive a call back for 2 weeks. When they did call back my roommate picked up the phone and the rep sounded like he was on drugs. My roommate could barely understand him so he asked who was calling- the rep refused to say and said "listen you're the one who called us so put BLANK BLANK on the phone or I'm hanging up!" My roommate gave the phone to my girlfriend since i was in the yard and she was treated rudely as well. They told her that the order was still waiting to be filled? after 40 days and they told me 30 after 2 weeks of me thinking my guitar was on it's way. I had to call them to find out it was on backorder. The guy i talked to wasnt as rude but he was clearly uneducated and uncaring. This place is to be avoided I'm calling to cancel my order asap. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!!!!!! THEY ARE SHADY!!!

I have ordered from Instrument Pro off and on since about 2008. The music gear that I ordered includes an 8 space Rack, my Gibraltar drum stands, a couple Moog Moogerfoogers and a Moog expression pedal. Every item was drop shipped from the manufacturer and I received every item I ordered. The average time it took to receive my orders was about 3 weeks or so. Which if you need something ASAP would not work. The expression pedal from Moog took the longest but was ordered the same time as one of the Moogerfoogers that Moog shipped. I got it a month after I ordered it. I was not in a rush to get it so I was not upset. The price combined with coupons is great. I DO NOT think instrument Pro is a scam. I found out about Instrument Pro by being an ASCAP member. Instrument Pro is listed with ASCAP as one of the retailers we can get a discount through for being an ASCAP member. I doubt ASCAP would have associations with a company if it was a scam as some of the reviewers have stated here. I would say that I agree that Instrument Pro should communicate by sending e-mails with tracking #s or an update to the status for every order. I looked through my past e-mails going back to 2010 and saw only 1 tracking number given for a drop shipped Item.
Thought I would give my 2 cents.

We have found that this business does not have SSL (secure sockets layer), which means that you should think twice before trusting this business with your data, such as personal information or credit card details, because your information will not be digitally connected to a cryptographic key and secure connection cannot be established. We found that the domain for this business is older than two years which could be an indication that this is a trustworthy business with an established customer base and experience in their field.
