I would give zero stars if I could. I ordered a chair that was $700, open box. Upon receipt of the chair, it was defective. The settings for height and recline would not lock, thus I could not keep the chair in a position that supported my ergonomic needs. Upon return, Madison required that I ship the chair back paying for least expensive shipping route. I sent in the receipts for the shipping because it was almost $170 just to return ship via UPS ground (I shopped around). Madison Seating's response to my request for reimbursement was:

"The novelty with Madisonseating.com is that we sell brand name ergonomic office chairs for practically half the retail price and include free shipping. This way customers that normally cannot afford an ergonomic chair, can buy one at a more reasonable price.

With these prices and free shipping, we are unable to offer free returns. We do not reimburse for the return shipping costs under our 30 day return policy."

I will never do business with this company again. I was punished for broken furniture as the customer and in this economy, I don't just have $170 to throw away when I have a family to feed. I'll continue going to the other LARGE online retailer who knows that customer service is what makes people return. This was the worst customer service ever!

I ordered 5 chairs from them Aeron, Mirra, Leap V2, Gesture, and Amia. I ordered on 3/29. I did not hear anything for a couple of weeks. All but two chairs came in individually spaced out over several days. They do not answer the phone and are slow to respond on email. You can't see the status of multiple shipments in their online portal, so when something does ship, you don't know which it is or when to expect it. I was very concerned at first that the company might have been fake. By the first week of May all chairs had arrived. All were from their remanufactured line-up. 1/5 lived up to expectation of a remanufactured chair. It was an Aeron. The fabric on all Steelcase products was very poorly done, I would not trust them on a reupholstered chair. Many loose threads and in general it looked like a very low level of quality. The Leap V2 had five different concerns. Three different components broken in shipment. It took me four emails with pictures along with a threat to challenge the credit card statement for them to ship repair pieces. When they did ship, there was no instructions, so if you are not mechanically inclined, you would have little to no chance of fixing. Additionally, their is a permanent seam in the back of the upholstery because they glued it in place without smoothing it out. They also did not trim excess fabric on any chairs, so you have random pieces of fabric sticking out from the chairs. The Steelcase arm pads are designed to be replaced, but to save a few buck they did some weird reupholstery to it as well on the Leap. The Gesture and Amia, appear to be new pads, or at least in great shape. The fabric edges is the big negative one those two. The Mirra chair we ordered either had bolts stripped in the frame from the factory, or they did not install the correct bolts. Whoever installed, did go out of their way to make it look correct. The result is that it took about two weeks before the back of the chair separated into 3 pieces. The company won't ship new bolts, or replacement chair back. Their only solution is to ship back the whole chair back and then they will replace. The problem is either a bolt of the chair back. Neither of those make sense to ship a whole chair. Either way, they will only take back a chair in the original packaging. If they make an exception you have to find a box that fits exact dimensions. I along with a couple of coworkers spent a couple of hours trying to find the box, and we couldn't. As a last ditch effort I tried to order another chair from them and told them I ordered one to get a box. THEY CANCELLED THE ORDER!!! This is the most unethical, and sleazy company I have dealt with a long time.

I recently bought a SteelCase think chair. The description of the chair says that the castors are compatable with carpets. They are not, as they cause the piston of the chair to drag on the carpet and bottom out. I reached out to there service department and their response was, "To bad, you can buy new wheels on ebay or amazon"

I'm updating a previous negative review I left for Madison Seating to say that despite my initial bad impression, when I was mailed a broken chair and left with it for a month, as of today, Sara from Madison Seating reached out, she was very apologetic and kind, and said this never should have happened. She is now not only sending me the replacement parts I needed, but also a second chair at no cost, as an apology. I feel much better about Madison Seating's customer service after this, and the company as a whole. It appears that I simply dealt with one very rude customer service rep the entire time, and I'm hopeful now that this experience was the exception, not the rule. The positive experience of having them go above and beyond to correct their mistake is worth more to me than the initial bad impression they left.

We ordered 7 Leap chairs from Madison Seating. Upon delivery we found three were broken. We sent an email with photos to customer service and received a response and satisfactory resolution within the day. We would definitely order from them again based on their excellent customer service.

I recently purchased a Steelcase Leap V2 from Madisonseating. The chair was damaged when I received. I contacted the customer service. They responded very quickly and offered a new replacement. Very happy with the purchase and service. Will definitely come back and strongly recommend the company.

I bought the Ergo Elite Office Chair in May of 2017. Love it! After about 2 years, it started creaking a bit and slowly increased over the next year until it was quite loud. I emailed Madison and asked for a manual on how to open the seat casing and lubricate the springs. In less than a week, I had a replacement seat sent to me! I just had to take the back, arms, and cylinder/legs off and put on the new seat. It was amazing! I expected a manual and got a new seat instead! This is by far the best customer service I've ever received on a product and the speed in which they took care of me - less than a week from my email until the replacement seat was at my door - is stunning! Madison Seating is now the only place I will shop for future purchases and will gladly refer to anyone.

So, my daughter had asked for a table that with every order we placed with about 5 different stores/companies we found out that it was discontinued/out of stock. I found Madison Seating on the internet and gave them a try as their service department advised me that they were expecting to receive it from the manufacturer. They kept me advised of the status of the order and shipped it as soon as it was received in the warehouse. The table itself was a breeze to put together and looks lovely.

First off, I have wanted a Herman Miller chair for several years. I first sat in the Aeron in 2010 when the company I worked for purchased them for the office. I looked at Madison Seating since I couldn't justify the cost (over $1100) to get one of the new Aeron v2 chairs. I found that Madison Seating were selling chairs on Amazon, but I didn't see the newer Aeron listed so I decided to order directly from Madison Seating. I was very apprehensive since I read a lot of mixed reviews on Madison Seating, and doing a search online revealed a lot of negativity including a lawsuit against them. I have seen that Herman Miller and Madison have now settled this. I ordered just after the holidays on January 3rd, and did have to contact them to get updates on my order. I think their website says it usually ships 10-14 days, so on the 14th day I contacted them again. Each time they responded to me the same day, usually within an hour or so, and apologized for the delay. In all honestly, I am not expecting Amazon delivery times, especially on a large item like this. I see a lot of other negative reviews due to slow delivery times, but I wouldn't say they deserve 1 star because of that. My chair arrived today (Jan 23rd), so 20 days since placing the order. It was very well packaged in a Madison Seating branded box, but I decided to take photos just in case. Again, I was nervous after seeing all of the negative reviews. Once I opened it up, the Aeron v2 chair was in two parts; the back and the base. It came supplied with an allen key in a small bag attached to the chair, and the back attached easily with 4 bolts. Again, being skeptical of the purchase I checked a few things to make sure the chair was genuine. If you run your fingers behind the back rest (at the top), you will feel dots which signify the size. I ordered a size B, and indeed there were two dots I could feel. The base (that you sit on) also has B imprinted underneath. Also at the back of the back-rest is the Herman Miller logo. The older Aeron's seem to have 'Herman Miller' where mine just has the H logo, but I checked this online and this also appears to be genuine. To satisfy my curiosity I took apart the boxed unit that is located under the seat, where the tension knob comes from. It simply un-clips, and I wanted to see the mechanism inside to see if it was full of dust or dirt. Mine looks brand new. Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones, but I am very happy with my chair. It cost $699, saving a considerable amount compared to a new one. It looks, smells, and feels brand new. The arm rests show absolutely no signs of wear, and there is no damage at all. Time will tell if this lasts, but being a Herman Miller I have been told that this will be a chair for life. As for Madison Seating, perhaps the lawsuit and past issues have taught them some valuable lessons. All I'd say is read their terms and conditions, and know what to expect with their 'open box' products, which is what mine is. Don't expect to have it for 3 weeks, and if it arrives earlier then you won't be disappointed. Their communication with me was fast, so I can't really complain. Unfortunately it is human nature to complain and get angry when something doesn't go our way, which is why I think people leave more negative reviews than good ones. My experience with them was good, and let's hope they continue this with all of their future customers. If there was one thing they could do better, then I'd say that's have faster shipping times. Also, if they offered free returns (no $50 re-stock fee) with their 30 day no hassle guarantee, then this will probably entice more people to buy from them.

We ordered two chairs and when one of them wasn't available, someone from MadisonSeating reached out and offered a replacement. Once the matter was resolved, they arrived in just a few days. One of our chairs needed a replacement part and our inquiry email was answered quickly and promptly with a solution.

After a little mix-up with the billing info not allowing them to bill me, I got a phone call apologizing and ensuring the order would be going out with only a couple extra day delay. That personal touch of a person call was a nice touch. Suggestion for Madison Seating: provide the Tracking ID or an update on when we as customers can expect to get the tracking ID.

I purchased a Herman Miller Aeron chair that was supposed to ship in 10-14 business days. This is slow, but I was willing to wait because the price was very good. After 14 business days passed with no updates, I contacted customer service. They stated that the chair I ordered was out-of-stock. I never received a notification of it being out-of-stock during the three weeks I waited, nor did their website indicate this. Although they offered to substitute a different chair size after I reached out, I was told this would take another 10-14 business days. They then cancelled my order without my permission. Better online retailers would usually offer an apology, explanation, or maybe even an incentive to keep my business, but nothing here. Just to test it, I found I was still able to put my original order into my cart on the site with no indication it was out-of-stock, despite being told it was out-of-stock. I asked them why I would still be able to order something that was not in-stock, but they replied they are updating their site. I understand that this is a difficult period for businesses, but in the current year, there is no reason why a customer should not be able to be informed something is out-of-stock when it is ordered. Having someone wait for three weeks for nothing is absurd. And why is domestic shipping even that slow for an in-stock item? With a little searching I found some other retailers with similar prices and better reviews. I took my business elsewhere and suggest you do the same.

Buyer Beware! Pls read the 1-star reviews before your purchase. This company has a very unscrupulous business model, whereby they ship a defective chair, ask for a false positive review in exchange for shipping a "free" replacement which turns out to be a different model. Then they want the customer to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee for their discrepant shipment. Madison Seating clearly does not stand behind their "100% Customer Satisfaction" claim. Thankfully, my credit card company agreed with the facts and credited me for the entire purchase. It was an exhaustive experience that I don't wish upon anyone.

I placed my Zody (by Haworth) for $299 in the middle of Pandemic.I received an email confirmation about the shipment delay about 14 days due to Covid-19 quarantine. I have received a shipped confirmation notice in 10 days and ground shipment arrived in a nice package. It was great price for Zody chair which I use in office for 5 years. I noticed back support was not straight and it was not supporting forward tilt. I sent an email regarding the issue then the have asked to send pictures. Customer server has given two options whether the replacement or refund. Customer service was genuinely handled the concern.

Absolutely ridiculous customer service. I was quoted 10-14 business days to delivery. At around 10 business days, I reached out asking for an update, because the status was still "open" and not "shipped", and received a canned response about waiting the full 14 business days. Well, here we are, reached back out, and was now told up to an additional 3 weeks. There are reviews about this issue going well before Covid-19 restrictions. Completely inexcusable and unprofessional.

I purchased a Herman Miller chair from Madison seating a few years ago. Within 2 years the armrest material (?leather) began to crack and look awful. Madison seating sent me a complimentary replacement pair which I installed myself. 3 years later, new armrests are cracking again! When I called today I was told they won't replace these and that I should go to eBay to get a replacement set. Even though the manufacturer (Herman Miller) warranties the arm rests for 12 years, the reseller (Madison seating) refuses to do so. For me it's all about customer service and this represents poor service.

I received my a Steel Case Leap V1 and put it together just to find out that the chair wobbled side to side. Besides that, the chair is in good condition. So, I reached out to the customer service and got a quick courteous response. They offered to replace the chair at no cost to me if I wrote this review.

I had purchased a chair from Madison seating last month. During the assembly of the chair, the cylinder got stuck and was not coming out due to which the seat height could not be adjusted. This is the time of of Covid isolation and it's difficult to get help to get things fixed. The customer service at Madison seating was patient and helpful though. They responded to all my queries, sent me helpful links, and tried their best in assisting me. When it looked like it could be repaired by me, they offered me a new chair at no additional cost. I really appreciate the gesture and the service provided to me

Purchased a Herman Miller Aeron chair on their website 12/27. Here I am 12 days later and it still has not shipped. When I contact the company they tell me they can't cancel an order over the phone. When I email them, they dispute the date the order was placed. Tell me I 'agreed to 10-14 day shipping'. They also insist that I agree to a 5% order cancellation fee. At no point do they apologize or make any effort to make sure I am going to remain a customer. Just a lot of finger jabbing at the customer and snotty tone. Stay far away from this company. You can find similar prices elsewhere.
